Chapter 296: The Shadow Cast By The Flames Of Divinity

  • Next Chapter

The dragons felt true terror, the stars they thought they were shielded from were raining down on them, their forces devastated as the bombardment raged on, finding out to their horror that the energy behind this attack was beyond what any of them could handle.

How could a mere human wield such power? The dragons wondered, their hearts quivering with both anger and fear.

The plains rocked, as the dragons braced trying their all to survive, with their vanguard force bearing the raw brunt of Aurora’s Fury.

The illusion of furious astral showers faded as the might of a divine skill revealed the damage, obvious to all, to think just one individual from the enemy side dealt such heavy damage.

And the worst part? They all knew that this was merely a start.

"Nowwwwwwww!" a voice echoed through the horizon, chants ringing out from all sides...

The dragon leader sitting at the heart of the core let out a sinister growl, quaking his surroundings as he sensed the danger bearing in on his forces.

Its golden pupils glared, staring directly through the void, spectating the scale of the damage of the enemy’s very first attack, its heart shook.

In the end he was right to gather his full forces to defend the core, but it seemed even doing that wasn’t enough, who exactly were these guys?

What did they want with the flame dragon race, how did they locate the Genesis Nest? And more importantly why now?

The dragon kin found it hard to believe these were just ordinary human forces. It knew humans, it ate humans a lot, they were too weak to pose such a threat, even if the origin might have descended their status as prey shouldn’t have changed so much.

So why?

Its pupils glistened with a simmering cadence of fury looming from their depths, watching through the veil of void as his vanguard forces were decimated by what clearly seemed to be human forces.

The dragons, still shaken and frightened by the earlier attack, were suddenly swarmed by the enemy forces scaling distance at an unreasonable degree, the dragons were besieged before they could even fully recover.

Lethal attacks rained down on the dragons, their scales torn and pierced, letting out roars of pain as their beastly nature slowly swallowed whatever was left of the intelligence they had cultivated.

Their eyes bled crimson, their roars turning into freak snarls, as the humans tore through their frames, finding this side of the dragons easier to hunt.

Because as their minds were being driven by pure instincts, their moves became even easier to both anticipate and discern, picking off the berserk dragons was countless times easier.

Simply to say the evolvers of division one never expected their enemies to be this easy to overcome, like these were dragons at the mid to advanced stages of the awakened rank.

While all the human soldiers could only qualify as low-stage awakened, they were comparable to mid-stage or even advanced-stage fighters depending on what grade they were looking at.

And despite this ridiculous power gap between them and their opponents, the humans slaughtered through the dragons like scissors through paper.

The dragons could barely put up a fight smothered beneath the stifling presence of lingering divine energy, their reaction speed became sluggish, their attacks sloppy.

And within minutes the entire force of the dragons guarding the outer region of the core were slaughtered, with the human forces launching a brutal massacre from various fronts and the initial attack that specifically defied the logic of space-time, targeting even dragons located at other fronts.

It was safe to say the dragon vanguard forces stood a zero chance...

Descending from the sky like a falling star, Seth collided weakly with the blistering-hot surface of the earth. A pang of pain banging against the sides of his skull.

He let out a hiss of pain as he collected himself rising from the earth, his frame billowing with steam, as his essence pathways glowed like veins of gold visible from even beneath his flesh.

As the aftermath of the divine energy flow lingered in his system, his muscles quivering from exhaustion as sweat pooled beneath his frame.

It seemed despite his small advancements he still wasn’t strong enough to handle the full force of divine energy.

Even though it was just for a moment of tapping into that stream of godly force, the backlash left his muscles screaming and his veins stinging with visceral pain almost as though a stream of lava flowed through them instead of blood.

He let out a shallow cough, patting on the side of his glowing helm, his genetic battle suit revving back with life, while also inducing a quick stamina and vitality restoration protocols.

With how hard it was to recover essence down here, Seth refused to use his genetic or even class skill again unless it was absolutely necessary, especially now that he had just spent large amounts of essence units, converted to divine essence, allowing him to launch the earlier attack.

Prompts flashed through his helmet’s interface as units from other fronts sent a signal to relay their success in the first clash of battle.

Seth activated the transmission and broadcast, his voice ringing into the ears of all evolvers under his command, "We will follow the same plan for the next assault, we move now, we can’t give the enemy time to adapt."

With that his voice cut, the evolvers with serious expressions nodded to themselves, their eyes glowing with enthusiasm, as they readied to continue their march forward.

Their boss was mighty! The victory of this round had to be attributed entirely to him, at this point if they could revere him beyond deification they would have.

Because the feats he kept pulling off never stopped getting ridiculous. One had to understand the units were attacking from fronts hundreds of miles to even thousands apart.

Yet their boss was able to deal such lethal damage despite such distance that could only be the working of a god!

Lara’s eyes glowed with fervent light as she led her team forward. Even as a fellow descendant of one of the big three she had to admit her inferiority before Seth.

This guy’s capabilities were so ridiculous, trying to compare would only bring despair, but even then she saw Seth as a possible potential all human could harness if given the chance.

A chance she hungered for, and she would create one if she had such power, she wouldn’t be satisfied until she could wield it too. She did not bear any malicious intent towards Seth, but that didn’t stop her from tagging him as her goal.

Recovering as he slowly led his unit deeper into the core regions, he braced himself, ready to activate the divine weapon again.

His body was battered, having been damaged just from a one-time usage, but he still had a mission to accomplish, one he would complete regardless of the means.
