Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 437: Safe Landing, Awakening a Profession
Chapter 437: Chapter 437: Safe Landing, Awakening a Profession
In the heat of the moment, Seraphina Sullivan quickly activated her [Anesthetic] Skill. She moved with lightning speed, using it on Sharon Lynn. Already on the verge of a complete breakdown from sheer terror, Sharon Lynn succumbed instantly to the Anesthetic. Her body went limp, her eyes fluttered shut, and she fell into a deep coma.
Seraphina Sullivan caught the unconscious Sharon Lynn, and with a single thought—
[Scavenger’s Farm]
A nearly imperceptible spatial vortex appeared silently beneath Sharon Lynn, swallowing her in an instant and making her vanish amidst the chaos of the cabin.
As long as Sharon Lynn remained unconscious inside the farm Space, she wouldn’t notice anything was wrong.
’This way, my identity as a Player won’t be exposed.’
’And Sharon Lynn will be safe from the impending crash.’
Seraphina felt a wave of relief.
’Now that Sharon isn’t weighing me down, I can finally act without restraint!’
’I’m not about to stay on this crashing plane and wait for death.’
She glanced around. The cabin was severely damaged. A fierce wind howled through it, and countless pieces of debris and human figures floated and collided in zero gravity.
’Now’s my chance!’
She took a deep breath, mustering all her Power. As the plane made another violent roll, bringing her close to the massive hole torn open by the bird strike and explosion, she kicked off. Like an agile fish, she used the chaotic airflow and centrifugal force to shoot out of the opening!
The icy wind instantly enveloped her. Her ears were filled with the piercing shriek of the wind and the final death wail of the plane’s engines in the distance.
Her body was yanked by an immense force, plummeting downwards!
’Fall from several thousand meters up?’
’I’d be turned into a shapeless pile of pulp.’
Seraphina Sullivan wasn’t the least bit flustered.
With another thought, she retrieved a special item from her Scavenger’s Farm—one she had collected from the Divine Kingdom of Sweet Dreams.
It was one of the soft, fluffy [Floating White Clouds] that looked like giant cotton candy!
[Floating White Clouds]
[Effect: Can carry objects and float for a short period of time.]
As soon as the cloud appeared, it seemed to sense its surroundings and her intent, instantly expanding and unfurling until it was several times larger than an RV.
It wasn’t a solid object, yet it emitted a soft white glow and possessed a strange buoyancy.
Seraphina landed precisely in the center of the cloud.
The cloud felt soft yet resilient, like the most comfortable bed, and it instantly caught her falling body.
Her descent slowed visibly, eventually becoming as steady and gentle as a parachute ride.
Seraphina lay on the cloud and looked down.
Below, the military transport plane, laden with despair and death, trailed thick smoke and Flame. Like a great steel bird with a broken wing, it carved a tragic arc through the sky before crashing violently into a forest!
"BOOM—!!!"
The earth-shattering explosion was clearly audible even from her high altitude. A massive Fireball and a plume of thick smoke billowed into the sky, signaling the end for most of the lives aboard.
Seraphina watched this scene with a blank expression.
’The system’s mission never asked me to be a savior.’
’All I have to do is complete my mission and survive.’ ℯℯ𝑙.
The cloud carried her like an immortal’s chariot, descending slowly to a safe landing on a relatively flat, sparsely vegetated patch of hills several kilometers from the crash site.
She looked around. The area was desolate and silent. In the distance, she could vaguely make out twisted trees and strange terrain.
The air was filled with dust and a faint, burnt smell.
The [Monster Apocalypse] instance, a true journey of wilderness survival and escort, was only just beginning.
And her first objective was to find the right direction and take Sharon Lynn to "Inland Shelter Number Three," however far away that might be.
Seraphina stepped lightly onto the ground.
After confirming her immediate surroundings were safe, she quickly found a hidden crevice between some rocks to use as a temporary foothold.
First, she brought the unconscious Sharon Lynn out from the Scavenger’s Farm, carefully placing her on an emergency blanket she had laid out.
The girl’s breathing was steady. She was still fast asleep, completely unaware of what had just happened.
Immediately after, with another thought, Seraphina summoned Flora Sullivan from the farm as well.
Although the farm was a better place for Flora Sullivan to tend to her plants, in the current situation, having another reliable helper—especially one like Flora, who possessed various combat and Control abilities—was crucial.
Flora was still a little dazed when she appeared, rubbing her eyes. Her attention was immediately drawn to the unfamiliar surroundings and the little girl lying on the ground.
"Boss, where are we? And this little sister is...?" Flora asked curiously, but her eyes quickly grew wary as she scanned the area.
"This is the Monster Apocalypse instance.
This girl is Sharon Lynn. She’s our main protection target for this mission."
Seraphina explained succinctly, "Your job is to help me protect her and pretend to be another survivor from the plane crash to avoid suspicion."
Flora’s eyes lit up. She immediately puffed out her small chest and patted it, promising, "No problem!
Leave it to me! I’ll definitely protect this little sister!"
"Good," Seraphina nodded, but then added a serious warning.
"But remember, try not to reveal our Extraordinary Abilities in front of her.
She’s one of this world’s Native People. We need to blend in as much as possible to avoid unnecessary trouble."
"Understood! I’ll just pretend to be a regular big sister who’s a little stronger than average!" Flora replied with a grin, catching on immediately.
Satisfied, Seraphina nodded and took out a set of equipment suitable for Flora from her Storage Space.
A few light but powerful submachine guns, several magazines, a few high-explosive grenades and flashbangs, and even a multi-function military dagger.
"Here, use these firearms for now," Seraphina said, handing the equipment to Flora.
"Use these first if we run into ordinary dangers or a small number of monsters.
Only use your Ability when facing a lethal threat or when you’re certain there are no other witnesses around."
Flora took the heavy weapons, fiddling with them with a hint of novelty before giving an "OK" sign. "Don’t worry, I know the drill!"
Seraphina, on the other hand, wasn’t too worried about exposing herself.
She had the [Universal Sniper Rifle] Profession Skill. As long as she didn’t run into any particularly knowledgeable Native People, she could explain away a "strangely shaped" sniper rifle as a "special modification" or "salvaged military equipment."
It was far more discreet than Flora conjuring vines out of thin air.
After settling the "roles" for Flora and Sharon Lynn, Seraphina finally had a moment to deal with her own affairs.
’A plane crash right after entering the instance... I almost forgot what’s important. I still haven’t chosen my Profession for this instance.’
She calmed her mind and connected with the Profession-awakening mechanism that originated from her [Worker] Talent.
Deep in her consciousness, light flowed and swirled, and two clear Profession options emerged.
