Chapter 436: Chapter 436: Monstrous Bird Attack, Danger of a Crash

As they drew closer, the true forms of those black dots became clear.

They were giant, monstrous birds with wingspans exceeding five meters, their bodies covered in feathers as black as iron.

Their heads resembled those of hawks, but they possessed sharp, hooked beaks like a scorpion’s stinger, and their talons glinted with a cold, deadly light!

They flew in flocks, their eyes filled with malevolence. Their movements were agile and erratic, their target clearly locked on the massive transport plane!

Though they lacked the sky-blotting size of the Lord of the Ocean,

these strange avian monsters were numerous, incredibly fast, and were clearly formidable aerial predators!

To a poorly defended transport plane packed with civilians, they were a lethal threat!

’As expected! This plane is in danger!’

Seraphina Sullivan’s heart sank.

’How could the main quest of a Level 4 instance let you finish it with a comfortable plane ride?’

’The real test is only just beginning!’

The cabin instantly descended into chaos.

The passengers were terrified. A cacophony of screams, prayers, and curses filled the air.

Some tried to unbuckle their seatbelts and rush toward the cockpit, a completely futile effort.

Some huddled in their seats, trembling uncontrollably, while others clung to each other in despair.

"Are we going to die? I... I’ve seen them before! The beaks on these birds can easily pierce a plane’s fuselage and even car armor!

They’ll drag us all out and eat us!"

"Mommy! Mommy! I’m scared! I don’t want to die! Waaaaah..."

"Help! Is anyone going to save us!"

Overwhelming fear spread like a plague.

Amidst the chorus of hysterical sobs, Sharon Lynn, who was sitting next to Seraphina Sullivan, felt her last line of psychological defense crumble.

She gripped Seraphina Sullivan’s arm tightly, her small face deathly pale. Tears streamed down her cheeks as her voice trembled uncontrollably. "Miss... miss... are we... are we really... going to die? A-are they... are they going to tear the plane apart?"

Seraphina Sullivan could feel the little girl’s violent trembling and her bone-deep terror.

She squeezed Sharon Lynn’s cold little hand firmly. Her voice was calm and steady, as if imbued with some kind of Magic Power that could soothe the soul. "Look at me, little one. Don’t be afraid. I’m here.

We are not going to die.

I promised that I would protect you and take you somewhere safe.

Trust me, okay?"

Seraphina Sullivan’s gaze was firm, without the slightest trace of panic.

This strange composure acted like a shot of adrenaline, allowing the near-hysterical Sharon Lynn to regain a sliver of her senses. She sobbed and nodded vigorously. Though tears still streamed down her face, at least she didn’t start screaming uncontrollably again.

As Seraphina Sullivan comforted Sharon Lynn, her mind was racing.

’If these birds surround the plane, a crash is practically inevitable.’

’There’s no way I can reach the Shelter on this plane now.’

’I have to get off this plane, now!’

Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes sharpened.

’I have the Scavenger’s Farm, an independent Space that can serve as an emergency shelter.’

’The question is, how do I disappear with Sharon Lynn in plain sight?’

’If there’s anyone with sharp senses around, they might notice.’

’Besides, just disappearing would save our lives, but it would also turn me and Sharon Lynn into "missing persons." Figuring out how to "logically" reappear later and get to the Shelter would be another headache.’

’I need to create a plausible accident or some chaos...’

Seraphina Sullivan’s gaze swept across the chaotic cabin before turning to the window. The flock of monstrous birds was drawing ever closer, their piercing shrieks now audible.

’There isn’t much time!’

Just then, the transport plane gave a sudden, violent lurch.

The pilot was clearly attempting an emergency evasive maneuver!

The cabin lights flickered as a piercing alarm blared.

Several of the fastest birds had already caught up, their sharp beaks and talons slamming viciously against the fuselage and wings, producing the gut-wrenching screech of tearing metal!

BANG! CRUNCH—!

The heart-stopping sound of tearing metal was accompanied by the sharp crack of shattering glass.

A monstrous bird’s sharp, hooked beak brutally gouged a washbasin-sized hole in the fuselage near one of the windows!

Furious, hurricane-force winds instantly found an outlet and flooded madly into the cabin!

"AHHH—!!!"

The passengers closest to the hole had no time to react before they were sucked out by the sudden, terrifying depressurization.

Their screams vanished instantly into the howling wind and the vast distance to the ground below.

Jagged metal edges and glass shards flew through the cabin like the Reaper’s scythe, slashing and piercing the bodies of more passengers.

But this was only the beginning!

More monstrous birds, like a black tide of death, crashed into and tore at the transport plane, which was already losing its balance.

Windows shattered one after another. The sturdy fuselage proved as fragile as paper under the monsters’ talons and beaks!

SQUELCH!

A monstrous bird thrust its long, sharp beak forward like a horrific spear, precisely piercing the skull of a mother in the row ahead of Seraphina Sullivan, who had been trying to shield her child!

A spray of red and white matter splattered everywhere, staining the adjacent seat and the child’s small face, which was twisted in terror.

The child’s mouth hung wide open, unable to even scream, before they fainted dead away.

Meanwhile, in front of Seraphina Sullivan and Sharon Lynn, another, slightly smaller bird with an even more vicious look in its eyes had locked its cold, faintly glowing compound eyes onto them.

Its hooked beak, dripping with blood and gore, adjusted its angle slightly, aiming for the spot between Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes. It looked as if in the next instant, it would skewer both her and Sharon Lynn’s heads in a single thrust!

Sharon Lynn was completely frozen by the hellish scene before her. Her pupils were dilated to their maximum, her small mouth hung open without a sound, and her body was as stiff as an ice sculpture. Only tears continued to stream uncontrollably down her face.

Inside the cabin, desperate wails, crazed curses, and the death rattles of the mortally wounded mixed with the howling wind, the sound of impacts, and the blaring alarms to compose a symphony of apocalyptic death.

"Aaaah! Help me!"

"We’re going to die! We’re all going to die!"

"Damn you, monsters! I’ll take you with me!"

"Die! You bastards!"

In the chaos, a soldier on the verge of a complete breakdown, his eyes bloodshot, roared as he pulled out a high-explosive grenade. He pulled the pin and, without a second thought, hurled it at the flock of birds swarming into the cabin!

BOOM—!!!

A massive explosion rocked the rear of the cabin!

The fireball engulfed several birds, but it also tore an even larger, terrifying hole in the already battered fuselage!

More passengers were either thrown by the shock wave or blown to pieces outright.

The transport plane groaned under the strain, lost all control, and began to spiral, plummeting toward the earth below at an ever-increasing speed!

The sensation of weightlessness instantly enveloped everyone!

Amidst this ultimate chaos, terror, and the weightlessness of the fall, Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes remained terrifyingly calm.

’This was the chance she had been waiting for!’

’Everyone’s attention was completely consumed by the explosion, the crash, and the fear of death. No one would notice her subtle movements.’
