Chapter 59: Chapter 59: I Will Die

A wave of calmness washed over Derrick as the skill assimilated with him.

’I am really liking you more and more, system.’ Seeing the mission reward and the note, Derrick’s lips curled up faintly before he took out his phone and dialed a number.

The phone connected, and a gruff voice came from the other side, "What is it, my Dany disciple?"

"Teacher... I need your help." For the first time, Derrick did not shoot back at her for the insult and solemnly asked for help.

"What happened?" Keira’s casualness vanished hearing the tone of his voice.

...

Cutting the call, Derrick walked out of the shop.

The reason why he was able to kill the man before was because of the skill he had learned today.

It was during the time he was still under the effects of the Enlightenment Pill.

[Veiled Presence (Intermediate level): A rare stealth technique that allows the user to conceal their presence by suppressing their aura, footsteps, breathing, and even the subtle fluctuations of their energy.

The user becomes exceedingly difficult to detect through ordinary senses, perception skills, or mana detection.

The stronger the user’s control over their body and surroundings, the more perfectly their presence can be erased.

This skill was perfectly made for him, especially combined with Body Coordination Technique.

During the battle he relied a lot on the skill to find and kill monsters. Which was why he managed to raise its mastery to the intermediate level.

In one day, he had completed all the three missions because of one mission and even 1 of the 3 new missions he had gotten.

...

Creak!

Beth Silverheart was having a hard time fighting. She was riddled with bruises and cuts; her dress was torn from several places.

Yet, the fighting spirit in her eyes never diminished.

Even without looking around, she could feel a crowd was gathering at the edge of the road.

People, looking at her fight so desperately and muttering to themselves.

"Isn’t that the girl from the flower shop on Third?" a woman whispered, tugging her scarf tighter around her neck. She looked away whenever Beth was slashed with the edge of the crowbar.

"Beth, something. Silverheart, I think." The man beside her shook his head slowly. "Poor thing."

Beth staggered back another step, forearm raised to block a blow that never fully landed.

Instead, the man attacking her pulled back just enough to laugh.

"Come on, you little shit, I won’t let you or that cunt die so easily," he sneered, circling her like she was nothing more than a stray dog cornered in an alley. "Who knows if he is not already killed or something?"

The small crowd gathered near the edges of the street, kept their distance, phones tucked away, and none of them dared to pull one out and film.

Why? Because they all feared the gang the man and his accomplice belonged to.

"She really shouldn’t have taken that loan from the Bloody Scythe Gang," someone muttered.

"Everyone knows what happens once you’re in with them." Another voice, low, resigned. "But what could she even do? You know her family situation. She had no choice."

"Doesn’t mean she deserves this."

"Then why don’t you go ahead and step in to help her?" Someone asked.

...

Silence followed. That one line shut every mouth.

Nobody dared to move.

Beth spat blood onto the cracked pavement, one eye already swelling shut, dress torn along the shoulder where someone had grabbed her earlier and shoved her hard enough to leave a bruise blooming dark beneath her collarbone.

Don’t fall. Don’t you dare fall.

"I will finish this—" The Bearded man grinned maliciously and stepped forward when a sound of footsteps echoed throughout the street.

Crack!

Tap!

Everyone, including Beth and the attacker, turned their eyes to the shop, where they saw a silhouette walking out.

Unlike what the bearded man had expected, it was Derrick who walked out.

His cold, serene eyes were directly at the wounds on Beth’s body. He stepped forward again and walked out of the shop.

One step and his body disappeared.

He reappeared beside Beth, making the eyes of the bearded man narrow. "Where is Daisan?"

"No, he would lose to someone as weak as you." The fact that he could follow Derrick’s movements gave him the confidence that he was right.

"Why don’t you go inside and ask his corpse?" Derrick uttered coldly, looking at the man like an insignificant creature. "He thought the same before I drove a knife in his heart."

"I will... Kill you."

Derrick raised the bloody blade in his hands and took a stance while whispering to Beth, "you should rest now; I will take care of the rest."

"Are you sure?" Beth was unsure. She had no idea how he had killed the man inside the shop, but she could feel Derrick was not stronger than her.

She doubted he could even win against a man like the one they were facing.

"Don’t worry, I won’t be facing him." As if on cue, the sound of a loud horn blaring almost made every normal human in the area go deaf.

BEEEPPP!!!

BOooom!

The streak of black light rushed through the sky and landed behind Derrick, shaking the ground.

The bearded man’s expression tightened as he saw the black jeep landing behind Derrick.

A faint smirk appeared on Derrick’s face as he looked over his shoulder and said, "She will."

Everyone saw a beautiful black-violet-haired woman stepping out of the vehicle wearing black shades that gave her appearance an unrestrained touch.

Unlike before when she met him, Keira was wearing a formal white shirt under a two-piece black suit that looked absolutely stunning on her.

"What an unruly disciple I have." Keira mocked Derrick with a faint smirk on her face. "Making troubles for me already?"

She slowly took her glasses down and casually walked forward, ignoring the bearded gangster.

"I am beginning to think you are after my body. Using me as you please."

Derrick’s lips twitched as he could feel Beth’s stare from the side.

"I apologize for disturbing you, teacher."

Seeing him seriously apologizing, Keira clicked her tongue; the smirk on her face died. "It’s not funny when you get all serious."

She walked up to the boy and looked ahead, "was it you who dared to attack me, student? I wonder what the authorities of this place are even established for. They are not even here after such a big incident happened."

The bearded man gulped nervously; he could sense it from this woman.

Eminent death that awaited him.

From the moment that car landed, he was unable to utter a single word.
