Chapter 195: 195 | Legitimate Access°

Lin Tian rose from the rest platform, crossed the small room in three steps, and pressed his palm against the door panel. The formation lock released. The door slid open.

Elder Liu slipped inside with the practiced silence of a woman who had spent decades moving through sealed chambers without disturbing a single flame. Her formal emerald robes were gone. In their place she wore a thin dark silk inner garment that clung loosely to her frame, hair half-loose over one shoulder, face bare of any public composure.

The fabric caught the dim chamber light. Thin enough that the soft curve of her collarbone and the upper swell beneath it showed through faintly. Her skin carried a flushed glow, still holding the day’s heat.

Lin Tian’s gaze dropped to her collarbone, stayed there for one breath, then lifted to her face.

Elder Liu exhaled slowly, as if she had been holding her breath since the elder deck.

Lin Tian stepped forward, One stride, enough to close the space between them. His hand rose and caught her wrist, fingers wrapping around the thin fabric covering her pulse. He felt her heartbeat beneath it. Fast. Faster than a Core Formation cultivator’s resting rhythm should be.

"You crossed two decks," he said, his voice low. "Counted patrol gaps. Compressed your aura until it nearly vanished. All to stand here."

"Yes."

His other hand slid to her waist, pulling her forward until her body pressed against his. The thin garment offered almost no barrier. He felt the heat of her skin through it, the softness of her frame, the quick rise and fall of her breathing against his chest.

Elder Liu’s breath caught. Her hands rose to his shoulders, fingers curling into the fabric of his robe.

"I missed you," she whispered. The words came out rough, stripped of every layer of rank. "Not the urgency. Not the need. Just you. Your hands. Your voice. The way you look at me when you think I am not watching."

Lin Tian’s grip on her waist hardened.

"Good." His lips pressed against her temple.

"Remember how it feels. So that after the tournament, you never accept that distance again."

She tilted her face up. Their eyes met. The chamber light caught the faint sheen of moisture along her lower lashes.

"Kiss me," she said. "Before I forget how to ask."

His mouth covered hers with slow, deliberate pressure. The first contact was firm, claiming, the kind of kiss that answered every hour of forced distance with a single undeniable statement. Elder Liu’s fingers tightened in his robe, and her body pressed closer against his as if the kiss itself had loosened something.

She answered him. Her lips parted slowly, and the kiss deepened with the steady certainty of a woman who had crossed two decks and waited forty-seven breaths for this single moment. Her tongue met his, slow and heated, tasting him with the quiet hunger of someone who had gone too long without.

Lin Tian’s hand slid from her waist to the back of her neck, fingers threading into her loose hair. He drew her closer until her forehead rested against his, their breathing mingling in the narrow space between them.

"You smell like warm herbs and skin," he murmured against her lips. His thumb traced her lower lip. "Like something I have been starving for."

He kissed her again, slower this time. His lips traced the corner of her mouth, then the line of her jaw, then the warm hollow beneath her ear. Elder Liu’s breath hitched. Her hands slid from his shoulders to his chest, palms flattening against the fabric as if anchoring herself to the steadiness of his heartbeat.

"You are so warm," he said against her throat, his voice dropping into something rougher. "All day I sat in that chamber thinking about this. About having you here. About feeling your skin against mine."

Elder Liu shivered. Her fingers curled tighter into his robe.

"Then stop thinking," she whispered. "And feel me properly."

His mouth found the pulse point beneath her ear. His teeth grazed the skin there, light, deliberate, just enough to make her gasp.

"You like that," he murmured against her throat. "I can feel your heartbeat racing."

"Because you are torturing me." Her voice was barely a whisper.

Elder Liu’s breath caught. Her fingers dragged through his hair, pulling him closer.

"I will feel it," she said. "I want to feel you all day. And I hate that I cannot touch you."

"Your robe is too thin," he said, his mouth still against her throat. His thumb traced the edge of the garment at her collarbone, pressing the fabric slightly lower. The skin beneath was hot, flushed, alive.

"I dressed in a hurry." Her voice was barely a whisper. "I wanted to get here before the second patrol."

"I can feel your heartbeat through it." His fingers slid beneath the edge of the silk, tracing warm skin.

Lin Tian’s breath deepened. His fingers moved along her bare shoulder, slow and deliberate.

"Then let me make every step worth it."

He undid the single clasp at her shoulder slowly, letting the garment loosen and slide down one arm. The fabric pooled at her elbow, revealing the smooth curve of her shoulder and the upper swell of her chest beneath. The chamber light traced the line of her collarbone in soft gold.

She did not look away. Her gaze stayed locked on his, steady and open, carrying the quiet defiance of a woman who chose to be seen.

Lin Tian’s thumb dragged slowly along her bare shoulder. The heat of her skin seeped into his fingertip.

"Beautiful," he said. The word came out rough, unpolished, nothing like the calculated tone he used everywhere else.

Elder Liu’s lips curved. "Say it again."

"You are beautiful. And you are mine. And every debt I intend to collect after the tournament."

A soft sound escaped her. Almost a laugh, almost a sob. She pressed closer, her body fitting against his as if the space between them had been carved for exactly this shape.

He pulled her fully against him. One arm locked around her waist, the other spread across her bare back. Elder Liu melted into the contact with a soft exhale, her forehead dropping to his collarbone, her arms wrapping around his neck.

They stood like that, breathing together. His robes. Her half-fallen garment. The ship humming beneath them. The patrol still twelve minutes away.

"Stay," she murmured against his skin. "Just for a while. Hold me like I belong here."

"You belong here. In this room. In my arms. Nowhere else."

Her lips pressed once against his throat. "Say my name."

"Ying."

"Again."

"Ying." His mouth found her ear. "You are mine tonight. Every breath you take in this room belongs to me."

She shivered against him. "Yours."

The patrol chime sounded outside.

Elder Liu’s body tensed at once. Her head lifted from his shoulder, and her hands tightened briefly around him before releasing.

"The patrol passes in twelve breaths," she said, already pulling the garment back over her shoulder. "If the detection layer catches residual Core Formation Qi in this corridor, it will flag the steward’s log."

Lin Tian reached out and caught her wrist before she could step away. He pulled her back, pressed his lips to her forehead, and held them there for three breaths.

"Come back tomorrow night," he said.

"I will."

He released her wrist. His fingers trailed down her arm as she stepped back, the last point of contact breaking only when her hand reached the door panel.

"Sleep well, Master," she whispered.

She turned and slipped through the door. The privacy formation resealed with a soft pulse. Her footsteps faded into the corridor, lighter than breath, moving toward the stair platform and the forty-seven-breath gap between patrols.

Lin Tian stood alone in the quiet chamber.

The faint scent of warm herbs lingered in the air where she had stood. The heat on his collar where her lips had pressed was already fading, but the steadiness in his chest remained, a slow, even pulse of something that had nothing to do with cultivation and everything to do with the woman who had crossed two decks just to be held.

He sat back down on the rest platform and closed his eyes.

Outside, the Flying Spiritual Ship continued through the dark route. The patrol footsteps passed his door in perfect rhythm, detecting nothing, recording nothing.

Two days remained.

And somewhere on the elder deck, behind sealed formation walls, a Core Formation Matriarch was pressing her back against her chamber door, breathing slowly, letting the last heat of his arms settle into her bones before the morning.

---

Dawn arrived with the ship’s bronze bell.

Lin Tian stepped out of rest chamber seventeen into the ordinary noise of the lower spirit deck. Stewards distributed morning water rations. Instructor Qing stood at the central stair platform, already reviewing the day’s schedule with two record jades in hand.

Elder Liu was visible on the upper walkway, crossing between sealed platforms with her two Alchemy Peak assistants. Formal emerald robes. Public face intact. Her gaze swept past the lower deck with measured indifference, offering nothing another person could use.

Lin Tian watched her disappear behind the elder barrier and turned toward the supply corridor.

The recovery station would open by midday. The summons would come through official channels.
