Chapter 582: Chapter 579: Amorphous Black Ball

If an observer believed these black spheres would become giants, they would become giants. If they believed the spheres would become terrifying Wall Builders, they would become Wall Builders.

Furthermore, the black spheres would even incorporate the observer’s specific intentions:

"The giants can’t get back up; they’ll freeze up when trying to chase scattered enemies."

"Its body will wield the power of an Elder."

"..."

Whatever an observer said they were, that’s what they became. If an observer believed they would attack, they would attack. If an observer believed these black spheres would put them in danger, the spheres would, in complete accordance with the observer’s will, create a massive crisis.

What one faced was entirely dependent on their perception of the black spheres.

And all of these changes would vanish the moment one stopped observing.

Mo Ling was suddenly reminded of the shifting black walls he’d seen in the maze.

’Because I was thinking that as long as I observed the black walls, they wouldn’t change, they did exactly as I thought and stopped changing. If I had thought they would transform into something else, they would have.’

He had always assumed the black walls remained static because he was constantly "staring" at them. He never imagined that this "static state" was, itself, a form of "change."

...

A short while ago, the instant Mo Ling saw the giant mass of light at the center of the maze, he entered this space.

He had experienced the same thing as the healers. He thought giants would surely sprout from the black earth, and so they did. As his thoughts multiplied, the land descended into a chaotic frenzy of monsters.

Only when Mo Ling withdrew his observation did it all vanish in an instant.

It was then that he fully understood the nature of the black spheres.

Just as Mo Ling was about to study the spheres’ transformations more closely, he saw a commotion erupt on the land in the distance.

Mo Ling had spotted the healers in crisis the moment he arrived, which was why he immediately told them to "shut down their perception."

...

Mo Ling slowly descended from the sky, looking down at the group of stiff, motionless healers.

’I forgot to tell them to turn their perception back on after a while...’

Mo Ling gently pinched Xi’s arm, but there was no reaction. It seemed his perception was shut down completely.

"Hey!" Mo Ling shouted, but the healers remained frozen on the spot, completely motionless.

"..."

Mo Ling was out of ideas. He reached his hand directly into Xi’s sphere of light and waved it around inside.

"Senior, what are you doing?"

Xi’s sudden voice startled Mo Ling, who immediately yanked his hand out of the sphere of light.

"Er, I saw you’d all shut down your perception and was trying to wake you up."

Mo Ling rubbed his hands, a little embarrassed. It seemed sticking a hand into a healer’s sphere of light really worked.

And so, he reached for the other healers’ spheres of light.

But Xi suddenly grabbed Mo Ling’s wrist and said, a little shyly, "Senior, let me do it..."

Mo Ling froze. If he wasn’t mistaken, that was definitely ’shyness’ he was sensing.

’Huh? Could it be that sticking your hand into a sphere of light is something that makes a healer feel shy?’

Mo Ling gently withdrew his hand. Xi said nothing, simply walking over to the other healers.

Xi’s sphere of light flickered as if creating a resonance. The spheres of light on the other healers’ heads began to flicker at the same frequency. Then, all the surrounding healers woke up.

Mo Ling watched in astonishment from the side. "There’s a method like that?"

After waking, the healers all looked around. They were stunned to see the vast, peaceful black landscape.

"Have the black spheres all been eliminated?"

"Did Senior do all this?"

"So strong! Can Senior even use his powers here?"

The healers all turned to Mo Ling in unison and gathered around him. At first, they had been skeptical of the "Senior" Xi had mentioned, but now, what they had just witnessed had completely won them over.

Taking the opportunity, Mo Ling explained the nature of the black spheres to them.

"The recent transformations of the black spheres were all caused by your own observation... The moment you stop observing, it all vanishes."

After hearing Mo Ling’s explanation, understanding dawned on the healers.

"No wonder! No wonder it felt like whatever we thought of would happen, as if they were listening in on our thoughts."

Now that they knew the nature of the black spheres, the healers weren’t as worried.

"So as long as we don’t imagine things, the black spheres won’t change at will?"

"But you can’t control your thoughts," a healer said gravely. "When we see these black spheres, we’ll inevitably think of the black giants, and of the black walls that trapped us. As soon as those thoughts rise up, the spheres will quickly begin to change. Even though we know how they work, we can only delay the inevitable. The changes will still happen."

Mo Ling nodded in agreement.

He had already confirmed this for himself. Even though he knew the spheres’ changes stemmed from observation, whenever he thought of them, his mind would automatically associate them with the giants and black walls, and these thoughts would cause the spheres to transform.

The only ways to stop the transformation were to cease observation immediately, or to suppress the association with a much stronger thought.

However, on this vast black plain, it was nearly impossible not to think about what the black spheres could become.

As the group continued their discussion, the ground around them began to writhe once more.

"Just by talking about them, we can’t help but think about them. And as soon as we think about them, they start to change..."

The healers tried desperately to banish the images of the black sphere amalgamations from their minds, but the writhing of the ground only quickened. Unformed black masses began to sprout from the earth again, twisting into unknown shapes.

"Senior, where exactly are we? How are we supposed to find the Elders?" Xi asked urgently.

Mo Ling didn’t know, of course. This black expanse seemed endless. Since the moment he’d arrived, he had seen nothing but a pure white sky and the boundless black earth.

He and this group of healers were the only living things in this entire land.

As for the masters of this space—the Elders—their whereabouts were an even greater mystery.

’Where else could they possibly be?’

Mo Ling was lost in thought. Gazing at the writhing black amalgamations on the ground, he suddenly had a bold idea.

"Do you think the Elders know about the nature of these black spheres?" he asked abruptly.

"If we’re talking about the Elders, they would have figured it out almost immediately," Xi replied with conviction. "They’re all incredibly perceptive. Given enough time, they would certainly have noticed."

"Then once the Elders understood the nature of the black spheres, what would they do?" Mo Ling pressed.

Hearing Mo Ling’s question, Xi sank into thought. A moment later, his eyes lit up in realization.

"I get it!"

"The Elders... they would want to heal the black spheres!"
