I'm Trapped in the Block
Chapter 583 - 580: The Elders’ Location
Chapter 583: Chapter 580: The Elders’ Location
And that was indeed Mo Ling’s guess...
The Elders had created this Healing Space to cure these strange black spheres. They probably already knew about the spheres’ properties.
However, Mo Ling still wasn’t sure of their specific healing methods.
"Xi, I think I know where the Elders are."
Mo Ling looked up at the sky. To heal these black spheres, one would have to keep them "fixed" in place. And to do that, one would need to find a suitable "observation point."
And that position was...
"Xi, I’m going up into the sky to check. You guys protect yourselves, and remember to shut off your senses when you need to."
"Senior, be careful," Xi said worriedly, reaching out her hand.
"Okay," Mo Ling replied, then shot up into the sky without a backward glance.
He flew farther and farther from the black earth. Soon, the figures of the healers below grew smaller and smaller, until they disappeared from sight.
’As long as I fly high enough, I should be able to see all the black spheres.’
This was precisely Mo Ling’s thought. The Elders must have gone somewhere very high up. This pure white sky wasn’t empty; the Elders were probably hiding somewhere within it.
However, Mo Ling flew for a long time, until everything below had become a blur, yet he still saw no sign of the Elders.
’Could I have been wrong?’
Mo Ling turned and looked. The black land was laid out before him, unobstructed.
The black spheres were not endless. They seemed to be stuck to a giant planet, and the land he’d just been on was merely a plain on its surface.
’They’re actually trying to heal an entire planet?’
Mo Ling was stunned by the Elders’ plan. They had actually designated an entire planet as their patient.
’Do they want to heal all the black spheres on this planet?’
’What do they intend to change the black spheres into?’
Just as Mo Ling was marveling at the Elders’ incredible undertaking, a gentle voice suddenly spoke beside him.
Mo Ling immediately turned to look. A gaunt figure was floating next to him. Above its body was a ball of light that emanated a terrifying aura, a light brighter than that of any healer Mo Ling had ever seen.
The dazzling ball of light was like a blazing star, so bright it felt as if one’s very gaze would be swallowed by its radiance.
"Are you here to help us?" the voice asked softly, yet the pressure it carried was terrifying.
"Are you healing this planet?" Mo Ling asked cautiously.
"No, we are healing the patients on it." The Mysterious Healer, with his terrifying aura, reached out and pointed to the dark planet.
"Are the black spheres the patients?" Mo Ling pressed.
"Yes, but the disease is not in them. The disease is somewhere else. We didn’t know this at first and wasted too much time. We must find the source of the disease to truly heal them."
"Where is the disease?" Mo Ling asked hurriedly.
"In the past," the Mysterious Healer answered faintly.
"The past?"
"Yes, the very distant past..."
As the Mysterious Healer spoke, he gently took Mo Ling’s hand.
Suddenly, a dazzling light engulfed Mo Ling, and a terrifying energy wrapped around him.
Mo Ling felt his surroundings flicker. The distant black planet seemed to be changing rapidly, and the pure white sky blinked on and off, as if someone were repeatedly flicking a room’s light switch.
Before he could realize what was happening, the lights stopped, stuck in the "off" position.
The white space vanished, replaced by a dark void.
In the void, the black planet blended completely into the background. It was impossible to see clearly without looking very closely.
The gaunt healer slowly released his hand and said, "We have arrived. This is the source of the disease."
Mo Ling was stunned. "Isn’t this the same place? It’s just... dark now..."
Suddenly, he recalled the Mysterious Healer’s earlier words and quickly asked, "Is this the past?"
"Yes. The past of this planet. The disease began here." The healer’s gaunt finger pointed toward the pitch-black planet. Only then did Mo Ling notice flickers of silver light on its surface.
Looking closely, he saw they were liquid-like ships, resembling mercury. At that moment, the ships were continuously attacking the black planet.
"Are those mercury ships the disease?"
"Yes, but not entirely."
The light from the Mysterious Healer’s head flashed again, enveloping Mo Ling. When he came to his senses, he was inside one of the ships.
The creature inside the ship looked like a puddle of writhing mercury Slime. It extended long tentacles to different places, multitasking as it controlled the vessel.
...
"Attack! The Black Scourge is already after us!"
"I don’t see them making a move yet?"
"Don’t hesitate! If we wait for them to get here, we’re finished! If we can’t stop the Black Scourge, they might come to our home planet and wipe out our entire race!"
These Mercury Creatures spoke a strange language, but Mo Ling could understand it. He could also feel that they were filled with terror.
’Why are they terrified? Are they afraid of these black spheres?’
’They call the black spheres the "Black Scourge"? What does that mean?’
’A black calamity?’
Mo Ling’s mind was full of questions, but the gaunt healer beside him simply watched everything in silence, as if he wanted Mo Ling to see it all unfold...
"Attack!"
Countless silver ships launched a mercury-like liquid that fell onto the black planet. After landing on the planet’s surface, the liquid spread out like a spiderweb, then rapidly contracted, releasing intense heat that instantly vaporized everything around it.
In an instant, white smoke began to rise from the black planet.
However, from within the smoke, a gigantic tentacle suddenly shot out. It was formed from countless black spheres. The tentacle pierced through the smoke, extended out from the planet, and lashed viciously at the silver ships.
"Get back! Get back!" the Mercury Creature shouted anxiously.
But the whip-like tentacle was incredibly fast, smashing several silver ships to pieces.
"We can’t dodge it!"
The Mercury Creatures’ terror intensified. The giant tentacle extending from the planet showed no sign of stopping; on the contrary, it became even more ferocious.
Countless spikes began to sprout from the tentacle, piercing through the surrounding silver ships. The Mercury Creatures inside didn’t even have time to cry for help before they fell into the void and burst apart.
"Don’t kill me!" The remaining silver ships tried to flee, but they were utterly obliterated by spikes launched from the tentacle.
The silver fleet, so full of fighting spirit just moments ago, was nearly wiped out in a single exchange by the terrifying, giant tentacle.
Only the ship carrying Mo Ling and the Mysterious Healer remained. Because it was farther away, it had escaped the tentacle’s pursuit, but the vessel was still pierced by a spike.
The spike passed straight through the ship, leaving a massive hole.
Fortunately, the Mercury Creature managed to adjust the ship’s orientation in time, narrowly escaping the pursuit. It piloted the faltering ship in a rapid retreat, pulling away from the giant tentacle.
The battlefield was now filled with the wreckage of ships. The Mercury Creature hid behind the debris, quietly slipping away from the most dangerous area.
"Run! Run! Run!"
The Mercury Creature on this ship had only one thought left—
Run!
