Chapter 566 -563: High Wall Maze

“Have you noticed? The path is getting wider and wider.”

After they had walked for some time, Xi finally noticed.

The distance between the black walls seemed to grow, forming one open square after another.

“That’s right. The deeper we go, the wider the path gets.”

The rabbit Li Luo was holding kept kicking its legs, as if trying to rush deeper in, but she held it firmly in her grasp.

“It’s not just that…” Xi gently tapped the black wall. “The medicinal smell is getting stronger too.”

“Is it coming from the depths of the maze?” Li Luo asked.

“I’m not sure… It’s very strong, and it feels like it’s coming from multiple sources.”

Xi couldn’t pinpoint the source of the scent either. He only felt the medicinal aroma growing stranger and murkier. His own healing power was being heavily interfered with and suppressed.

“Let’s keep going. I have a feeling we’re close to finding the source of that smell.”

“Alright.”

Li Luo, still holding the rabbit, passed through another gap and into a new square. The moment she entered and saw what was inside, she froze.

In the center of the square lay a giant, white ball of flesh. A single, half-open eye grew from its surface, staring blankly at the ground as murky tears streamed from its corner.

When the white ball of flesh saw them, its eye snapped open. It immediately began to tremble with fear, its whole body quivering as it tried to roll away.

But as it rolled, Li Luo saw that its underside was bound by black chains. The chains were connected to the surrounding black walls, and the creature’s struggle made the walls themselves tremble.

“UUH!”

The chains bit into its flesh, and the ball of flesh let out a pained whimper. It didn’t dare move again, remaining helplessly in place as murky tears once more streamed from its eye.

Xi, standing nearby, seemed to recognize the creature. He quickly rushed over and began stroking the ball of flesh, comforting it gently. “Don’t be afraid… don’t be afraid…”

The creature’s eye stared at Xi, then glanced fearfully at the rabbit in Li Luo’s hands before shrinking away.

Xi stroked the ball of flesh gently, as if soothing an infant, and it gradually calmed down.

“How did you… end up like this?”

“WHIMPER~ WHIMPER…” The ball of flesh whined continuously, as if telling Xi about its suffering.

“Don’t worry, I’ll get you out of this.” Xi patted the ball of flesh. The orb of light above his head suddenly flared.

Seeing the brilliant light, the ball of flesh began to tremble in fear again.

“It’s okay… Don’t be afraid…” Xi continued to soothe it while desperately unleashing his healing power, enveloping the creature before him.

The heavy medicinal scent in the air coiled around him, constantly interfering with his healing. But Xi pushed through in one go, breaking through the blockade of power and entering his Healing Space.

However, when he arrived inside the Healing Space, he found his senior already standing beside the ball of flesh. He had his hands on his hips and seemed to be inspecting its injuries.

“Senior? When did you get here?” Xi asked hurriedly.

“Just now. A moment ago…”

Then, Mo Ling suddenly asked Xi, “Look around you. Is this normal?”

‘Around me?’

Xi turned to look around his Healing Space and saw strange fragments floating everywhere. The fragments would appear and disappear, their shapes and materials constantly shifting. Sometimes they were stone, sometimes dirt, sometimes sparkling gems. At one point, they even took the form of those aggregates made of black spheres…

Moreover, the texture of these fragments was incredibly realistic, a stark contrast to the somewhat coarse scenery of the rest of the space.

The moment he saw these fragments, Xi understood where they came from:

“It’s the medicine. The medicine from outside has seeped into my space…”

Hearing Xi’s explanation, Mo Ling asked with concern, “Will this affect you?”

“It will interfere with my healing and throw my power into chaos,” Xi answered honestly.

“I see.” Mo Ling nodded. This was exactly as he had guessed.

A healer’s Healing Space was a manifestation of their power. There was no doubt these fragments would affect Xi.

“Let me clear them out for you,” Mo Ling said suddenly.

Before Xi could even react, he saw the surrounding fragments vanish one by one. In moments, his Healing Space was clear and calm again.

“Done.”

“They’re really gone…” Xi looked around, discovering that all the floating fragments had vanished without a trace. Not even a speck remained.

“Senior, you’re incredible,” Xi couldn’t help but praise.

Mo Ling waved a hand at Xi. “Don’t be so quick to praise me. Come take a look at this. Why did it end up like this?”

Puzzled, Xi walked over to the ball of flesh.

“Do you see? Here… and here…”

Following Mo Ling’s gesture, Xi saw that the creature’s body was covered in strange patches, as if the fragments from before had been forcibly nailed onto its skin.

“Substance abuse!” Seeing the abnormalities on the creature’s body, Xi blurted out. “This is definitely a case of substance abuse. The power was used incorrectly! Senior, look here. This is a cut. The prescription for that is cleansing, sterilization, suturing, and regeneration…”

“But what they used here was proliferation, mutation, transcendence…”

Xi’s finger gently touched the patch.

“And here. This is clearly a stomach ailment caused by starvation. The required prescription is replenishment, balancing, and nourishment…”

“But…” Xi’s hand was trembling as he gently touched the mismatched patch.

The edges of the patch were constantly expanding, only to slowly crack and dissipate, like a puzzle piece that would never fit.

“The prescriptions here are all wrong! This is gluttony, symbiosis, fission… How could they treat it like this? This is complete chaos!” Xi’s voice was agitated, as if he were looking at something unforgivable.

Mo Ling didn’t quite understand and was about to ask for clarification, but Xi continued explaining on his own.

“This might cure the stomach ailment, but it’s fundamentally wrong!”

“It creates multiple polyphagic stomachs and increases the efficiency of nutrient absorption, but it completely changes the patient’s nature! Who treats a patient like that?!” Xi said furiously.

“No! This isn’t treatment at all! This is transformation—twisting the patient into what *they* think is ‘healthy’…”

“The arrogance! The sheer arrogance!”

Furious, Xi tried to rip off the mismatched patches, but his power couldn’t affect the already-formed medicine. The fragments had solidified, sticking to the creature’s body like an irremovable poultice.

“Let me try.” Just as Xi was at a loss, Mo Ling spoke up. “I’ll take care of removing the incorrect medicine. You apply the correct medicine as I do. Can you handle that?”

“I can! Of course I can, Senior!”
