I'm Trapped in the Block
Chapter 339 - 336: Encirclement by Black Shadows
Chapter 339: Chapter 336: Encirclement by Black Shadows
"Xiaozhi! Come back!"
At Li Luo’s shout, Xiaozhi made another sharp turn and returned to Li Luo’s wrist.
Looking at the purple cord bracelet on his wrist, Li Luo sighed.
He had thought Xiaozhi was finally obeying his command, but it turned out it still wanted to attack the Block.
Fortunately, the crisis was averted for now.
He never expected the Inheritor’s sword strike to have such power. It had even sliced the safe house clean in two.
Beside him, Jin Lou trembled. "He’s never used that move before! The Prophet must have done something to him!"
In the distance, the Prophet was still controlling the mass of air. The number of figures around it was growing, and some even appeared taller than the Inheritor.
Jin Lou’s mechanical arm began to tremble uncontrollably as it looked at those figures.
"It’s over, it’s over. I’ve never seen these identities before. Not even the safe house can protect us now."
The ground began to shake. A massive pillar suddenly slammed down beside the swirling mass of air.
The two looked up at the sky in shock, only to realize it was another figure.
It was like a towering Giant God, holding up the heavens. It carried a black building on its shoulder. The figure’s face was wreathed in black smoke, its features obscured, but they could still tell it was staring intently at the damaged safe house.
"What is that thing?" Li Luo asked in astonishment.
"I don’t know! I don’t know!" Jin Lou was completely stunned. It had never seen anything like this before.
"How can something like this exist on Hell Island?" A crossbow deployed from Jin Lou’s arm and fired at the tall figure, but the Crossbow Arrow it fired simply vanished into the blackness without a sound.
"We can’t beat it! Run!" Jin Lou said to Li Luo decisively.
It called to Li Luo, and they fled through the fissure carved out by the sonic sword wave, heading for the other side of the Fire Thief Studio.
But then they discovered that the other side was also filled with figures shrouded in black mist.
"We’re surrounded..." Jin Lou said in despair.
In the pitch-black night, rows of figures of varying heights stood there. Some were human, others were from different races. They stood packed together, advancing on the center with intense craving, drawing closer and closer.
Seeing this, Jin Lou gave up the struggle and stiffly returned to the crumbling safe house.
"Do you have any other ideas?" Jin Lou looked helplessly at Li Luo, then turned its gaze to the Block in the air and asked seriously:
"What about you? Mr. Block? Or Ms. Block? Do you have a solution?"
Hearing Jin Lou’s earnest question, Mo Ling was taken aback for a moment.
’Maybe this is just how a robot’s mind works.’ This was the first time someone other than Li Luo had spoken directly to the Block, and so politely at that.
Mo Ling hadn’t made a move yet because he was still carefully observing the Prophet—or rather, he was trying to pinpoint her true body.
Li Luo and Jin Lou couldn’t see it clearly, but Mo Ling could.
Inside the body shrouded by black smoke, there was nothing.
Her torso, her arms—they were all just facsimiles formed from condensed black smoke, not solid matter at all.
The "Lin Nian" that had knocked on the door earlier was also just a mimicry of black smoke, which was why it had looked so blurry.
The Prophet’s real body wasn’t here. It was hiding somewhere far away.
’Where is it?’
Mo Ling searched anxiously, so focused he couldn’t spare the thought to block the Inheritor’s attack. He knew the Prophet was the source of it all. If he couldn’t stop her, even more powerful figures than the Inheritor would surely appear.
And now, Mo Ling had found it.
It was in a place he had consistently overlooked—inside the wall.
Or rather, inside the circuitry within the wall.
It was a black current, constantly leaping through the circuits around the safe house. Occasionally, it would create a nearly invisible spark. If Mo Ling hadn’t happened to see the current jump from one circuit to another, he never would have noticed such a hidden phenomenon. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ
Mo Ling didn’t know if this was the Prophet’s true body, but he had to try.
Seizing the moment the current jumped, Mo Ling teleported the adjacent section of wall and its circuits into the Block.
The black wall and circuits slowly flaked away. The current, now without a medium, was left floating inside the Block. The previously active current suddenly went still and rapidly shrank.
Until it became a ball.
It was a ball of pure black lightning, floating gently in the air.
But the transformation didn’t seem to be over. The ball lightning’s exterior continued to shrink, and profound patterns began to appear on its surface.
The patterns gradually deepened, forming overlapping folds and fissures. The sphere’s shape changed with the appearance of these fissures, slowly taking on the appearance of a walnut.
A large fissure cut through the center of the sphere, just like the sundered safe house.
Finally, a floating black brain appeared before him.
Mo Ling looked at the slightly illusory brain, somewhat surprised.
"A brain?"
Mo Ling had considered that the Prophet’s true body might be a black object, like the memory components from before, but he had never expected it to be an actual black brain.
Fine black fragments were flaking off the brain, suspended in the air, creating a very eerie sight.
Mo Ling initially intended to touch the brain to access the Prophet’s memories, but then he suddenly remembered: this brain had formed from electricity. It could inflict unknown harm.
So, he found an empty tin can inside the Block and carefully tossed it at the brain.
The empty can struck the brain, bounced off, and fell to the ground. Nothing happened.
There were no sudden sparks of electricity, and the can was completely undamaged. The brain, however, shed many more black fragments from the impact, which drifted down.
’It’s become solid?’
It seemed the brain had indeed lost its electrical properties and had completely transformed into a harmless, "fleshy" substance.
After much hesitation, Mo Ling finally stepped forward and gently placed his hand on it.
Soft.
Mo Ling felt as if he were stroking a soft piece of jelly. With just a slight push, his hand could sink into it. Besides that, he also felt a tingling numbness, as if gentle feathers were tickling his palm. It was a very strange sensation.
’Is this electricity?’
Mo Ling didn’t know if it was electricity. He only felt his palm gradually becoming very comfortable, as if some kind of massage device were gently caressing every part of it.
Suddenly, a gentle question sounded beside Mo Ling.
"Feels pretty good, doesn’t it?"
Hearing this voice, Mo Ling whipped his head around and saw a researcher in a white lab coat standing beside him, looking at him expectantly.
"Don’t just stand there gawking. Tell me how it feels. What do you think?"
Mo Ling was stunned. What was happening? He had unknowingly entered a memory.
The strangest part was that he could actually control the actions of the memory’s owner.
This "I"... was actually conscious?
