I'm the Only Magus in This Witch World
Chapter 208: Emils, the Cute Little Shadow
"No, no, no! Why is this happening?" Bellatrix muttered helplessly as she watched an endless stream of creatures pouring through the door and falling into her world.
They all looked strange, with no 2 creatures resembling each other.
She watched a giant book with 6 human arms extending from its sides fall directly onto the Tower’s roof, its arms crushed beneath its own weight and reduced to a bloody red paste.
Then she spotted another creature with bat wings, but its body was nothing more than a single-story stone house. Its wings couldn’t support its weight, and it crashed into the lake with an enormous splash.
There was even a giant spider with table legs instead of its usual limbs and a large, old grandfather clock where its head should have been, currently showing 2 minutes past noon.
They all looked like creatures born from strange, twisted nightmares, bizarre and equally terrifying.
The only good thing was that none of them appeared to pose a serious threat, as most were already dying from the fall, their bodies breaking apart upon impact.
Still, even that was enough to cause damage to the surrounding area, so Bellatrix raised her hands and began chanting.
"O Vein of the Living World, River that has flowed since before the First Dawn, Silent Mother of Rain and Sea."
She quickly chanted only the honorific names, without even making a sound herself to form the spell pattern.
Instead, her voice carrying the chant spread throughout the surroundings at a high pitch, almost like a scream, bouncing off the Tower’s tall stone walls and the enormous lake beneath it. As the sound vibrations returned to her, her mana pattern instantly formed inside her body.
This was how she cast her spells. She used the sounds around her to shape her spell patterns rather than having to produce every sound herself.
The next moment, the enormous lake began to ripple, and dozens of massive columns of water rose toward the sky, each several kilometers tall and several meters wide.
They immediately took the shape of countless snakes and, moving as though they had minds of their own, began swallowing the creatures that continued to fall from above.
Bellatrix didn’t wait for her water snakes to finish devouring them. Instead, she cast another spell.
In the distance, the trees forming a green ring around the enormous lake suddenly came to life, their trunks expanding and growing.
Within seconds, they had grown to an enormous size, each tree towering high into the sky.
Their enormous branches then shot toward the sky like ropes, reaching directly for the gap in the massive door. Each branch pressed against it like a pillar, trying to force it shut.
Bellatrix watched tensely to see if they could close the door, but unfortunately, it refused to budge.
At least it had stopped opening any further. Only a small gap remained, with smaller creatures continuing to fall through.
She let out a sigh of relief. At least she had stopped it from opening further, as she couldn’t even begin to imagine what kinds of beings might emerge if it opened completely.
"I just spent half my mana on this." She floated down toward the Tower and landed on its roof, looking exhausted.
Her water snakes were still moving around, continuing to devour the falling creatures. At least none of them were landing on the Tower anymore.
But simply keeping the snakes active was also draining her remaining mana reserves.
"Emils," she called tiredly.
The shadow behind her trembled slightly as a small puddle of mud rose from the ground.
It quickly took the shape of a mud slime, with 2 eyes on its body looking up at her in the most innocent and adorable way possible.
Seeing it, Bellatrix couldn’t help but smile despite her gloomy mood. She immediately bent down and picked it up with both hands.
She hugged it tightly, not caring about the mud getting all over her clothes, looking like she was seeking some emotional support.
Of course, emotional support wasn’t its only ability.
"Emils, look." Bellatrix pointed toward the enormous door in the sky, specifically at the gap where the creatures were still coming through. "Do you think you can close that gap?"
The small mud slime raised its eyes toward the door, and their shape changed, giving it an expression of confidence and determination.
"Nice!" Bellatrix exclaimed happily, hopping in place.
She then held the mud slime in one hand and began stretching her arm back. "On the count of 3."
Her extended arm suddenly began to swell, muscles appearing where there hadn’t been the slightest sign of them before.
They kept growing larger and larger until her arm was almost as big as the rest of her body. Yet she didn’t lose her balance as she began counting down.
When she reached 1, she threw the mud slime toward the sky with all her strength, sending the little fellow shooting from her hand like a missile.
Its determined eyes remained fixed on the enormous door above as its body began expanding rapidly during its ascent.
It continued growing wider and larger until it became an enormous mass of mud, finally striking the door with a loud splat that echoed throughout the surroundings.
Bellatrix, whose arm had already returned to its normal size, watched with satisfaction. "Heh, I still haven’t lost my aim."
As she watched, the enormous mass of mud stuck to the door continued to grow and move.
It began spreading toward the opening, gradually covering the entire gap from one end to the other with a thick layer of mud.
It took some time because of the door’s enormous size, but once it was finished, the entire opening was completely sealed with mud, and no more creatures could come through.
"Good job, Emils! Just hang in there for a while until we find a way to close it completely!" Bellatrix shouted toward the sky, cupping her hands around her mouth.
Now that the crisis had been stopped, at least temporarily, she was about to return inside the Tower when she spotted a Black Wyvern approaching from the horizon.
Triss and Arthas had finally returned to help.
