I'm the Only Magus in This Witch World
Chapter 209: Meow
The Wyvern flapped its wings as its dark body descended like a shadow, landing on the Tower’s roof.
Triss and Arthas quickly climbed down from its back.
"What’s happening? What’s that giant door up there?" Triss’s eyes remained fixed on the enormous door hanging horizontally above them.
As soon as she received the message, they had returned from the Underworld and headed straight to the Witch World. The report had only mentioned that the entrance to the Realm of Giants had broken and a Green Dragon had passed through it.
But upon arriving, she felt the entire world trembling and saw the massive door in the sky, which had been visible even from far away. She immediately understood that the situation was far worse than the report had suggested.
"The entrances to the realms have suddenly started breaking. The Fairy Hive, the Realm of Giants... And that door is probably the entrance to the unknown realm," Bellatrix answered, sounding rather discouraged.
Triss could hardly believe what she was hearing. "How?"
She could understand if the entrance to a single realm had broken open. Perhaps its seal had weakened, or some external force had caused it. But all the entrances suddenly opening into the Witch World at the same time was something that definitely shouldn’t happen.
"What about the Underworld? You were there, right?" Bellatrix asked, thinking it shouldn’t be any different.
Fortunately, Triss shook her head. "That realm seems fine. The seal was still intact when we left."
As she spoke, her honey-colored eyes suddenly widened.
"Wait..." She turned toward Arthas. "Do you think this could be connected to him?"
It was obvious who she meant, and although Arthas found the possibility hard to believe, he agreed.
"Who are you talking about?" Bellatrix, completely unaware of what had happened, couldn’t understand their conversation.
Triss quickly began explaining everything to her, starting with the timeline she had seen inside the pool chamber and continuing all the way to Magna opening the rock with a spell, leaving out none of the important details.
"Whoaaa..." Bellatrix’s eyes grew wider as she listened, shining with excitement and amazement. "So he’s really a God from a completely different realm?"
Unlike Triss, she didn’t look particularly shaken by the revelation. Quite the opposite, she was so excited that she had momentarily forgotten the crisis their world was facing.
She usually only got this excited when discovering a new spell or something cute, and this revelation was no different.
Learning that another, much greater universe existed out there meant there could be entirely new concepts of magic and spells as well as creatures for her to discover and learn. Her entire world and perspective had suddenly expanded.
"Calm down." Triss found her excitement rather irritating. She had at least expected Bellatrix to be as shaken as she had been. "We’re still not sure who he is. We don’t even know whether his arrival in our realm is a good or bad thing."
"Oh... right." Bellatrix finally remembered the seriousness of their situation and raised her green eyes toward the sky.
The bad consequences had already begun to show themselves.
"What do we do now? Do you think you can close that door?"
Emils blocking the door wasn’t a permanent solution. It could only hold it for a week at most before needing to return to its original small mud slime form to rest.
Triss studied the enormous door for a while. "Maybe, with Bastet’s help. But I’ll need a lot of mana, and that’s assuming she even agrees to help."
As soon as she mentioned the name, her shadow trembled, and an animal emerged from it.
"Meow."
Bastet sat there with her fluffy, snow-white fur and bright sky-blue eyes.
"Awww, so cute!" Bellatrix couldn’t contain herself and immediately rushed toward the cat, bending down to give her a big hug.
But she quickly had to pull back with 3 scratch marks across her face.
"Why are you so mean?" She held her cheek, her eyes watering.
Triss completely ignored her and bent down in front of the cat, speaking in a surprisingly gentle voice.
"Hey, we have a problem. Would you mind helping us?"
She was being unusually kind and accommodating, especially considering she was speaking to her own Shadow.
Bastet was the most unique Shadow, even among those belonging to the Grand Witches.
For one thing, she belonged to a species they had never encountered in any realm. Triss had found her completely by chance one day when the cat had appeared out of nowhere.
Another reason was her behavior. Despite being connected to Triss through the Shadow Witch contract, Bastet rarely cared about the orders she received and always did whatever she wanted. Most of the time, Triss had to practically beg her whenever she needed something.
She also had no physical strength, or at least nobody had ever seen her display any. She looked like an ordinary, defenseless animal that spent most of its time sleeping or idling around.
But she possessed one ability that made her the most special of all Shadows.
She could amplify any spell several times over, with the highest amplification Triss had experienced so far reaching 100x.
With that kind of support, Triss would actually have a chance to close the enormous door in the sky, perhaps even seal it completely with a single spell.
Unfortunately, Bastet showed no interest in helping. She simply began licking her paw, completely ignoring the request.
"Please?" Triss tried again, making her voice even gentler as she lowered herself onto her knees to meet the cat at eye level, practically begging her.
Unfortunately, that didn’t help in the slightest. After finishing cleaning her paw, Bastet apparently lost whatever little interest she had left and simply returned to the shadows, disappearing without a care.
Watching the entire exchange, Arthas couldn’t help but admire the cat in his mind.
She was probably the only Shadow in the entire world who could make a Grand Witch get down on her knees and beg, only to walk away and leave her there in the end.
