I Write Novels in a Zerg Prison

Chapter 338: The God Belongs to Him Alone: [Does My Pregnancy Sac Look Good?]

  • Next Chapter

An Ruo and Ulysses boarded the starship and headed for the Ninth Military Region.

As for what identity and excuse he would use to enter the Military Region, An Ruo no longer cared. He left everything to Ulysses.

Only belatedly did he remember that Ulysses was the Federation Marshal.

With Ulysses’s control and authority over the Federation, An Ruo’s current political status as the Marshal’s spouse was actually somewhat like that of a “First Lady.”

First Male Lord?

It was perfectly normal for him to accompany Ulysses to any military or political occasion. There was no need to deliberately come up with some special reason.

It was only that Zerg society had absolutely no expectations when it came to Male Zergs working. No one expected Male Zergs to shoulder any responsibilities.

Otherwise, An Ruo would probably have to accompany Ulysses to various events quite often.

He did not know whether that counted as a good thing or a bad thing......

An Ruo was not actually opposed to attending events with Ulysses. He could treat it as keeping Ulysses company and going out to have fun with him.

But because of his homebody nature, if it happened too frequently, he would still find it exhausting.

Ulysses clearly understood him very well too.

He had never deliberately arranged anything for An Ruo to do.

Their current frequency of going out was just right.

An Ruo had no political ambitions.

Even though Ulysses had awarded him the rank of Lieutenant General, and judging by Ulysses’s intentions, he even planned to promote him to General based on his contributions in Psychic Soothing......

To An Ruo, those things felt more like honorary decorations.

Like a pretty ornament pinned to a set of clothes he rarely wore.

They were not his goals.

He had his own life and his own profession that he loved.

Writing novels and staying hidden behind the scenes like this suited him perfectly.

So many readers liked his books and looked forward to his updates.

That was his world.

Ulysses was also his world.

So even though An Ruo was such a homebody, he still looked forward to going out with him.

......

“It’ll take another day to reach the Ninth Military Region. The trip might be a little boring. Do you want to sleep for a while?” Ulysses asked gently.

A day.

That already included the time spent on hyperspace jumps.

The Zerg Federation’s territory was far too vast.

To travel from the central Capital Star to the Ninth Military Region on the frontier, they had no choice but to use spatial jumps multiple times.

For a Male Zerg with sensitive Psychic Power who rarely experienced jumps, there might be some mild discomfort.

The best options were either to do something that distracted his attention or to sleep through it.

An Ruo had not originally planned to sleep.

But Ulysses’s soft, slow voice sounded beside his ear, sending a tingling sensation through him and making the tips of his ears heat up.

An Ruo raised a hand to touch his ear, then secretly glanced at the handsome Ulysses.

All right.

He supposed he did feel a little sleepy.

By the time he woke again, he could no longer tell what time it was.

An Ruo lay on the bed in the starship’s rest cabin and blinked blankly.

Ulysses was asleep beside him.

His handsome profile rested among strands of hair, black interwoven with platinum. His faint breaths brushed An Ruo’s neck, making it a little itchy.

An Ruo’s lashes trembled.

He endured the sensation and did not move.

A Male Zerg’s pheromones could relax a Female Zerg’s body and mind and let him sleep soundly.

But Ulysses was simply too sensitive.

After only a short while, An Ruo noticed his breathing change and his mental fluctuations quicken as he shifted from deep sleep into light sleep.

Seeing that Ulysses was about to wake, An Ruo hurriedly spread out his Psychic Power with a soothing intent, coaxing him back to sleep for a while longer.

Pregnant Female Zergs needed plenty of sleep.

An Ruo actually had serious doubts about whether Ulysses slept enough every day.

He hoped Ulysses could rest a little more.

Only when Ulysses’s breathing became slow and even again did An Ruo finally relax.

A pregnant Female Zerg......

Thinking of that again, An Ruo subconsciously looked downward.

His gaze seemed to pass straight through the blanket toward Ulysses’s abdomen, where he was carrying their egg.

Even though An Ruo had already come to the Zerg world, seen Zerg eggs, and seen pregnant Female Zergs like Cyril, the thought of Ulysses being pregnant still made him feel amazed and dazed.

It was unbelievably strange.

It was like watching a setting from a novel become reality right in front of his eyes.

There was a sense of unreality to it, yet at the same time it made him want to investigate.

Female Zergs could get pregnant.

They could lay eggs.

That was a setting in the novel, and it was also one of the fundamental rules and natural laws of this world.

Ulysses was a Female Zerg.

Of course he could lay eggs too.

If this had been An Ruo several months ago, he absolutely would not have been able to imagine Ulysses carrying and laying an egg.

This was the great villain who had beaten down everything in the book.

He stood at the very peak of the universe.

He was the eternal shadow hanging over the protagonists’ heads, the mountain every Zerg looked up to.

Something like carrying an egg simply had nothing whatsoever to do with him.

It was as unrelated as a fish and a bicycle.

And now, the fish was pregnant with the bicycle.

No.

That was wrong.

Ulysses was pregnant with their egg.

An Ruo found it unbelievably novel.

Propping his chin on his hand, he stared at the area through the blanket.

His Psychic Power climbed over it.

Still feeling that was not enough, he carefully reached out and touched it.

His fingers met Ulysses’s abdominal muscles without any obstruction.

The warm texture and sharply defined lines were especially stirring.

An Ruo remembered some of the things they had done before sleeping.

His face heated slightly.

He hurriedly opened the medical mode on his terminal and scanned Ulysses, checking his condition.

Even though he already knew Zerg eggs were very resilient and would not simply fall apart after being shaken around, sometimes when things became too intense, An Ruo still worried that something might go wrong.

He always had to personally confirm everything afterward before he could feel at ease.

The scan results quickly appeared on the light screen.

Ulysses was fine.

The egg was fine too.

Both were perfectly healthy.

Only then did An Ruo breathe a sigh of relief.

After reading the written description, he shifted his gaze toward the scan image at the side.

He located the egg and confirmed it once again.

Only one day had passed since the last examination.

The egg had barely changed at all.

There was no visible difference.

In any case, it was safe and healthy.

That was enough.

An Ruo was just about to look away when something inside Ulysses’s pregnancy sac caught his attention.

In the black-and-white scan image, some areas showed a different shade of gray from the surrounding tissue.

He stared at it for a while.

For some reason, it seemed different from before.

Confused, he wondered what it was.

Was Ulysses sick?

But the examination results clearly showed that Ulysses was extremely healthy.

Strong enough to beat a cosmic beast.

After quite a while, An Ruo finally realized belatedly what it was.

Something he had left behind.

His pheromones.

An Ruo’s entire face instantly turned scarlet.

Even the tips of his ears burned.

He did not dare look anymore and hurriedly shut off the light screen, so embarrassed he could barely stand it.

He knew a Female Zerg’s body would absorb those things very quickly.

But this......

This was still......

Way too......

Embarrassing.

An Ruo raised a hand to touch his burning face and waited for the heat to subside.

Then he suddenly sensed someone watching him.

He stiffly raised his head.

His eyes met Ulysses’s focused gaze.

Those silver-gray eyes were completely awake.

There was no telling how long he had been watching.

So......

Ulysses had seen that scan image too?

An Ruo’s expression froze.

For the first time in his life, he desperately wished he could dig a hole with his toes and crawl into it.

“Did it look good?” Ulysses asked.

His voice still carried the low, slightly hoarse quality of someone who had just woken from a long sleep, making An Ruo’s ears tingle.

“W-what?” An Ruo asked sluggishly, his eyes moving around blankly.

Was he asking about the egg?

An egg was just an egg.

Could eggs even differ in attractiveness?

Even with his Male Father filter firmly in place, An Ruo could only praise the egg for being round, cute, especially healthy, and lively.

An Ruo began organizing his words, preparing to properly praise it in front of Ulysses, the Female Father.

Then, from Ulysses’s active mental fluctuations, he caught a thought.

[Pregnancy sac shape.]

[Does my pregnancy sac look good?]

An Ruo abruptly froze.

Everything he had been about to say jammed in his throat.

His face burned scarlet with embarrassment.

At the same time, he instinctively reached out to cover Ulysses’s mouth.

With both hands.

As though terrified Ulysses might say something even more earth-shattering.

Ulysses was obviously such a proper Zerg.

How......

How could he ask such a strange question?

An Ruo felt as if his entire worldview had collapsed.

The sky was falling.

The earth was splitting apart.

How was he supposed to answer that?!

What was he supposed to do?!

This was far too embarrassing!

Then he saw Ulysses look down at his hands in confusion before looking back at him again, a trace of inquiry in his silver eyes.

Only then did An Ruo realize that Ulysses had not actually said anything at all.

Covering his mouth was useless.

That had merely been a mental fluctuation An Ruo happened to catch.

It counted as Ulysses’s inner voice.

An Ruo could perceive it because his Psychic Power was strong and because the two of them were so close, connected by an intimate mental bond.

An inner thought was still different from something spoken aloud.

He could not judge a Zerg because of a fleeting thought that happened to cross his mind.

If one judged only the heart, no Zerg in existence would be flawless.

All right.

Ulysses was still a very proper Zerg.

At least on the surface.

An Ruo hesitantly lowered his hands from Ulysses’s mouth.

He wondered whether he should answer the question or pretend he knew nothing about it.

In the end, under Ulysses’s focused gaze, An Ruo still could not hold out.

He cleared his throat and said,

“It looks good.”

Very good.

Very cute.

Perfect.

There was nowhere on Ulysses that was not perfect.

Ulysses paused.

His searching gaze landed on An Ruo’s slightly unnatural expression, as though trying to find something there.

A moment later, the corners of his lips curved faintly.

He leaned closer and kissed An Ruo on the cheek.

Then he wrapped an arm around him and murmured beside his ear,

“Since you like it, then in the future you should put more...... mm?”

He let the rest of the sentence fade away vaguely and soundlessly.

But An Ruo understood exactly what he meant.

Fine.

He would put in more......

But there was already a lot!

He went in a lot.

And he looked at it a lot too.

He checked it every single day!

An Ruo pressed a hand against Ulysses’s chest and gave him a light push.

He shifted his gaze away, changing the subject at the same time.

“We should get up.”

If Ulysses kept holding him like this, pressing him down and keeping their bodies tightly against each other, they were not going to get out of bed today.

An Ruo had only just seen an image of that place.

He did not want to immediately pay it another visit.

The embarrassment would kill him.

Ulysses did not insist.

He obediently got up and let him go.

There were only two star-hours left before they reached the Ninth Military Region.

There would be no more hyperspace jumps during the remainder of the journey, so there was no longer any need to distract the Male Zerg or coax him to sleep.

Although Ulysses felt slightly regretful about that, this was their date.

They had plenty of time together.

As long as he could be with An, it did not really matter what they did.

Even if they did nothing at all and merely stayed in the same space together, it was enough to fill a Zerg’s heart with satisfaction and joy.

Ulysses followed An Ruo into the dressing room and began combing his hair.

Platinum strands slid between his fingers like flowing moonlight, making him reluctant to let go.

He had long since received the moonlight’s radiance.

The god’s favor.

In this empty sea of stars around them, there was only him and his Male Zerg.

There were no protagonists.

No fanatical readers desperately waiting for updates.

No military Female Zergs who had once been treated by him.

There was only the two of them, keeping each other company.

Ulysses felt immeasurably satisfied.

At this moment, the god belonged to him alone.

Through the mirror, An Ruo saw the look in Ulysses’s eyes as he combed his hair.

It was so affectionate that it almost made his scalp tingle.

An Ruo could not help sighing inwardly.

He had always known Ulysses liked his hair.

But wasn’t this a little too much?

Resting his chin on one hand, An Ruo wondered whether he should cut off a small lock of hair and give it to Ulysses.

Ulysses would probably like that, right?

Binding hair together also carried such a lovely meaning.

But if his hair had been cut, would that make it flawed?

Would it affect the image Ulysses had of him or lower his affection?

It seemed he would have to choose a spot that would not affect the overall hairstyle.

Preferably somewhere that made it impossible to tell anything had been cut at all.

That required some skill.

Both of them had their own thoughts.

This was their first honeymoon trip after getting married.

Both cared deeply about what the other thought and wanted to leave the best possible impression and experience.
