Chapter 66: Chapter 67: Acceptance

Time passed in a flash, and soon it was May 8th.

After getting off in Yangcheng, they transferred to Shanmei City without a moment’s rest. Soon, Jiang Miao and his party, carrying bags big and small, arrived back at the headquarters in Magong Town.

Fortunately, they had prepared for this before the business trip to Jiang City. Jiang Miao had previously used his father’s name to purchase a dozen or so privately-built homes in Nanhu Village.

That’s why Jiang Miao bought the rural houses and urban storefronts with his own legitimate, post-tax income. He then registered them in his parents’ names, and they, in turn, leased them to the company.

The houses currently used as employee dormitories had a total area of about 5,800 square meters, with an annual rent of 120 yuan per square meter. The urban storefronts had an area of 1,750 square meters, with an annual rent of 720 yuan per square meter.

Together, these rental expenses came to about 1.95 million yuan.

Of course, this method of tax avoidance was small potatoes. The company’s primary method was purchasing raw gold materials through its gold shop. The shop bought large quantities of gold every month, and had so far accumulated 65 million yuan worth of raw gold.

Li Zixuan crossed his arms, smiled, and nodded. He added, "Your offices are across the street."

Li Zixuan pointed out the window. "That whole row of steel-frame buildings over there is the laboratory and the offices for your R&D department."

Zhang Chengdong followed Li Zixuan’s gesture and gazed into the distance. He saw that the complex of steel buildings was quite large, which put his mind at ease.

Li Zixuan watched from the side for a bit. Seeing that no one had any issues, he left the HR department office.

About an hour later, the 15 new employees had completed their onboarding procedures.

Shi Yingsha, the deputy HR manager who had a rather tomboyish demeanor, clapped her hands to get everyone’s attention. "First, I’d like to welcome you all to the company," she said with a smile. "You’ll be starting at grade D3, which is the entry level for technicians. To learn about promotions, you can refer to the *Employee Promotion Handbook*."

She handed each of them a small booklet.

Actually, Zhang Chengdong and the others had already heard Li Zixuan explain it on the high-speed train on the way over, but they still took the booklets for future reference.

Next, Shi Yingsha produced a thick stack of papers—the applications for physical exams and ID photocopies that Zhang Chengdong’s group had just signed. Kong Guocai arrived with two logistics department employees in tow. He looked over the group. "So these are the new employees?"

"All in a day’s work." Kong Guocai turned and instructed, "Ah Kai, go get the minibus."

"Got it."

By the time the group reached the entrance, Ah Kai had already pulled up in a minibus. The company had purchased it recently to help some employees with their commute.

Quickly, Zhang Chengdong and the others boarded the minibus with their suitcases.

"Manager Kong, are the dorms very far?" a girl with short hair asked curiously.

Kong Guocai shook his head. "It’s less than a kilometer away, just in the village to the east."

"In the village?"

"Don’t worry. The company’s farm is right next to it, and many of the residents of Nanhu Village are also company employees."

Kong Guocai’s explanation helped to somewhat allay the group’s concerns.

The minibus left the main gate of the headquarters and drove for just a few minutes before stopping.

"We’re here."

Kong Guocai pointed to a row of small villas on the south side of the village road. "Those are the homes of the boss and his relatives."

Then he pointed northeast toward the reservoir. "See that? That large cluster of greenhouses over there is Nanhu Farm."
