Chapter 65: Campus Recruitment

Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Campus Recruitment

Over the course of the meal, Jiang Miao chatted enthusiastically with the teachers, further strengthening their relationship.

At three o’clock that afternoon, Teacher Li gathered some of this year’s graduating students into a large, tiered lecture hall.

A considerable number of graduating students showed up. It wasn’t just students from the Department of Biological Engineering; there were also students from a wide range of majors within the College of Agriculture.

For example, there were students from Applied Biological Sciences, the major Shuya herself had studied as an undergraduate.

Then there were Agronomy, Seed Science and Engineering, Protected Agriculture Science and Engineering, Plant Science and Technology, Aquarium Science and Technology, Aquaculture, Food Engineering, etc.

These were all majors Jiang Miao had asked Teacher Li to notify in advance.

On the lecture platform, Teacher Li said with a smile, "Everyone, today we are fortunate to have our outstanding alumnus, Jiang Miao, visiting our school. Jiang Miao is the founder of Hailufeng Agricultural Technology Company and the developer of the commercial artificial eel breeding technology. Let’s take this opportunity to have him offer some words of advice for your graduation. Please give him a warm round of applause!"

CLAP CLAP CLAP...

Smiling and waving to the crowd, Jiang Miao walked onto the platform and took the microphone from Teacher Li.

"The reason I can stand here today is, first and foremost, thanks to the dedicated guidance of my alma mater and all my teachers. I’m also grateful for the support my alma mater has shown our company."

"My fellow juniors, you’re all approaching graduation. As someone who’s been in your shoes, let me offer a few words. For those of us in the agricultural field, finding a job is relatively easy. Finding one that’s both easy and lucrative, however, is much harder."

"You absolutely cannot miss this year’s summer recruitment season. I missed it, and as a result, I had to go home and deliver food on the side while I researched eels. My success had a large element of luck. Without perseverance, patience, a supportive family, and a decent amount of capital, it’s best not to stubbornly go off and start a business on your own."

The students in the lecture hall had a mix of reactions. Some looked thoughtful, others seemed unimpressed. Some were brimming with confidence, while still others looked worried.

"All of you chose majors related to agriculture. If you plan to continue developing your career in this field, you need to be prepared for years of tireless work. Many of the teachers here have extensive experience in breeding and cultivation, and they all understand that finding a superior, commercially viable variety is incredibly difficult without long-term experimentation and a bit of luck."

Jiang Miao took a sip of mineral water and continued, "Even though I had a very clear plan for my research into artificial eel breeding, it still took me nearly four years to succeed. So, if you want to pursue a career in agricultural R&D, you must be mentally prepared."

"That said, I wish all of you a bright and prosperous future. May you find your ideal jobs, develop outstanding agricultural products, and succeed in your own ventures. And finally, if you’ll indulge me, I’d like to shamelessly plug my own company."

"Although Hailufeng Company is a private enterprise, our projected annual revenue for this year is over one billion yuan. We have also established a seed lab and an edible fungus lab. Our main businesses are eel fry breeding, fruit cultivation, and canned eel, and we are planning to enter the feed industry next. I sincerely invite any of you who are interested to join us. Thank you!"

CLAP CLAP CLAP... Thunderous applause erupted.

At the same time, many of the students began whispering to one another; clearly, some of them were interested.

After all, this was a company with an annual revenue of over one billion yuan that had been founded less than two years ago. Plus, the available positions were a perfect match for their majors.

As Jiang Miao came off the platform, Teacher Li walked over to him.

"Jiang Miao, let me introduce you. These are a few of the more outstanding students from this year’s graduating class."

"This is Zhang Chengdong. He’s also in Biological Engineering..."

"This is Jiang Xinhe. She shares your surname and is also a Biological Engineering major..."

Jiang Miao nodded and said with a smile, "If any of you are interested, you can give your résumé directly to my secretary. We’ll begin interviews in one hour."

"Okay, Senior Brother."

"Senior Brother, let’s take a group photo!"

"No problem."

Surrounded by a crowd of enthusiastic students, Jiang Miao posed for photos and signed autographs.

Meanwhile, Li Zixuan, Shuya, An Ning, and Ke Yong collected a large pile of résumés.

In fact, Teacher Li had already sent a message to the class group chat before the May Day holiday, telling any interested students to prepare their résumés in advance.

So, the résumés they were collecting now were mostly from people who were genuinely interested in joining Hailufeng Company. Anyone who wasn’t interested had already made up their mind over the past few days.

An hour passed quickly.

Teacher Li had specially arranged for a small classroom next to the lecture hall to be used as a temporary interview room.

Jiang Miao and Shuya acted as the interviewers, Li Zixuan as the note-taker, Ke Yong helped maintain order, and An Ning was in charge of calling in the candidates.

The first student who came in for an interview was none other than Zhang Chengdong.

Jiang Miao asked with a smile, "Junior Brother Zhang, tell us why you hope to join our company. You can be honest, there’s no need to be nervous."

"Okay. My reasons are actually very simple. It’s close to home, your company offers decent pay, and it has good prospects for growth."

From the résumé, Jiang Miao already knew that Zhang Chengdong was from Zijin County, which was indeed very close to Hailufeng.

Shuya then asked, "Zhang Tongxue, you’re applying for the Transgenic Technician position. Do you have experience operating the relevant equipment?"

"I’ve done some experiments in the school lab, though not with transgenics. They were traditional mutation breeding experiments using chemical agents," Zhang Chengdong answered honestly.

Shuya nodded.

Jiang Miao then asked, "Tell me about the chemical-induced breeding process. What chemicals are used, what are their advantages and disadvantages, and what precautions need to be taken during the experiment?"

"’Chemical-induced breeding...’" Although Zhang Chengdong was nervous, his fundamental knowledge was solid. While his answers weren’t perfectly fluent, they were more or less accurate.

Following that, Jiang Miao and Shuya asked some more questions about career planning and special company confidentiality requirements.

"Alright, Junior Brother Zhang, that will be all. If your application is successful, we will notify you by email before noon tomorrow. Could you please ask Libo to come in on your way out?"

"Okay." Zhang Chengdong nodded with a smile.

After he left the room, Jiang Miao wrote "pending" on his résumé.

He had just observed him through the appraisal panel and found that Zhang Chengdong wasn’t lying. The student’s reaction was completely normal, especially when Jiang Miao had asked if he had a criminal record or had ever been involved in any shady dealings.

’Unless he’s had long-term, professional spy training, it’s nearly impossible to escape my discerning eyes.’

「An afternoon passed.」

They interviewed a total of 15 people, with 7 preliminarily shortlisted.

The recruitment continued the next day.

This campus recruitment drive lasted for three days. A total of 124 people were interviewed, and 32 were selected.

The breakdown of the 32 selected candidates was as follows: 8 research assistants for the seed lab, 5 research assistants for the edible fungus lab, 8 technicians for the tissue culture workshop, 3 research assistants for the feed mill’s affiliated lab, 3 research assistants for the farm’s breeding experimental field, 2 farm technicians, 2 eel farm technicians, and 1 food engineering technician for the cannery.

All of these were technical positions, starting at a D3 Level compensation package.

Many students who had already handled their university affairs packed their luggage and personal belongings, preparing to head south to Lingnan with Jiang Miao and the others.

As for the rest, Jiang Miao told them to handle their school matters as soon as possible and report to the company before June.

With that, the campus job fair came to a successful conclusion.

That evening, they invited the teachers out for dinner again.

Early on the morning of the fourth day, after bidding farewell to the teachers, Jiang Miao and his team took the high-speed rail back to Yangcheng, where they would then transfer for the trip back to Hailufeng.
