Chapter 743: Chapter 743: Boys Can’t Be Spoiled

On Election Day, Ethan Kingsley forfeited his chance to give a speech, causing him to lose a portion of undecided supporters. Ultimately, Adrian Quincy defeated him with over half the votes, securing a landslide victory.

After the election, former President Arthur Lockwood took the stage at Sovereign Plaza to announce Adrian Quincy as the winner and president-elect. The inauguration ceremony was scheduled for the following day.

That night, Ethan Kingsley posted a message on Weibo that sent shockwaves across the country—

[I hereby announce that effective immediately, I am canceling my engagement to Corinne Linden. I will be dedicating myself to business permanently and will not pursue any other profession. I ask the Astoria Daily to publish this statement as official confirmation.]

On the day of the inauguration ceremony, the Astoria Daily dedicated an entire section to publishing Ethan Kingsley’s statement. The rest of the paper was filled with coverage of the inauguration itself.

The entire nation celebrated Adrian Quincy’s election as president, and every television station broadcast the inauguration ceremony live.

Unfortunately, Claire Sinclair was still in the hospital recovering from childbirth, so she could only watch the live broadcast on TV.

After watching the live broadcast, Claire Sinclair posted a message on her Weibo: Missing person here, just checking in. Also, congratulations to the new king on his ascension. May love and justice prevail!

The post immediately started receiving comments from her fans.

[Ah, the missing person is back!]

[It’s been half a year! Where have you been?!]

[We haven’t seen any PDA from you two. Are you and Young Master Quincy still together?]

[To the commenter above, don’t call him Young Master Quincy anymore. It’s His Excellency, the President.]

[Claire Sinclair, are you still dating His Excellency, the President?]

[You guys are overthinking this. If His Excellency were still dating her, why would there be no news for six months? They obviously broke up ages ago.]

[I’d advise you to stop being delusional. Young Master Quincy is the president now, and you’re not even a reporter anymore. What makes you think you’re worthy of His Excellency, the President?]

...

Claire Sinclair gave a helpless smile. ’Netizens never change. There are always trolls no matter where you go.’

She put down her phone and was about to pick up the baby for a feeding.

Just then, she heard footsteps outside her hospital room. Someone was here.

Claire’s heart leaped. ’Could it be him?’

She craned her neck, trying to see who it was.

The door to her room finally opened. A noble, commanding figure walked in, carrying with him an almost kingly aura. The presence was so strong it instantly woke the baby in the crib.

"WAAAH..." As the baby cried, Claire had to pull her gaze away and turn to pick him up.

"Sweetie, Mommy’s here. Don’t cry," she cooed, her gaze softening with maternal love.

Adrian Quincy’s cool eyes narrowed. He walked up to her and glanced down at the crumpled-looking baby boy. In a deep voice, he said, "A girl would have been prettier."

Claire rolled her eyes at him. "You really have it in for your own son, don’t you?"

Adrian Quincy casually reached out and gently pinched the baby’s cheek. "I call it being strict," he said, his tone softening. "You can’t spoil a boy."

Claire was at a loss. "Mr. Quincy, your son is only two days old! Please just love him and stop being so harsh!"

Adrian Quincy’s brows furrowed. "You haven’t looked at me once since I came in."

Claire shot him another eye-roll. "I did too."

"Claire..." Adrian Quincy’s voice was full of grievance, a wounded look in his eyes.

Claire sighed in exasperation. "You’re already jealous of him, and he’s just a baby. What will you be like when he’s older? I don’t even know what to do with you."

Afraid of upsetting her further, Adrian Quincy quickly changed the subject. "There’s a state banquet tonight that my mother and I will be attending. I don’t feel right leaving you here at the hospital alone, so I’ve come to take you home."
