Chapter 709: Chapter 709: Looking Like Me Doesn’t Necessarily Mean It’s a Boy

After Claire Sinclair lay down, the doctor began to apply the coupling gel.

Claire Sinclair couldn’t see the ultrasound screen, so she could only watch her husband’s expression. "Adrian, how is it? Can you see clearly?"

Adrian Quincy stared at the screen, at the little person whose facial features were strikingly similar to his own. Though the exact appearance was unclear, the basic features were already quite distinct.

The more he looked, the more he felt the resemblance, and he couldn’t help but frown.

’Why do I get the feeling it’s a boy?’

Deep down, he still held his original opinion: he didn’t really want a boy who would compete with him for Claire’s love.

Seeing his solemn expression, Claire Sinclair grew anxious. "Why aren’t you saying anything?"

The doctor looked at Adrian Quincy’s face. Seeing his dark expression and how he seemed to want to speak but held back, she didn’t dare say what she was really thinking and just kept quiet.

Adrian Quincy was silent for a long time before suddenly turning to the doctor. "How is my baby?"

The doctor immediately replied, "The arms and legs are developing normally, there’s no cleft lip, and we haven’t found any other issues!"

Claire Sinclair breathed a sigh of relief, then complained, "Why didn’t you say anything?"

Adrian Quincy said in a deep voice, "I think he looks like me. It might be a boy."

’No wonder he looked so grim. He’d said he didn’t like boys even before I was pregnant!’

Claire Sinclair said irritably, "From your expression, I thought the baby was missing an arm or a leg!"

Adrian Quincy frowned. "The doctor said there aren’t any of those problems."

Claire Sinclair gritted her teeth. "I can see you just don’t like the idea of a baby boy!"

Adrian Quincy said, "Looking like me doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a boy."

Afraid they would start arguing, the doctor interjected, "Young Master Quincy is right. You can’t tell the gender just by looking at the baby’s facial features. You’ll know for sure after the baby is born."

Then she timidly asked, "Would you two like to know the gender?"

The couple said in unison, "Has your hospital determined a baby’s gender for people before?"

The doctor’s heart skipped a beat in fright, and she quickly shook her head. "No, we never do that!"

Adrian Quincy said impassively, "Then don’t make an exception for us. I have no need for it."

Claire Sinclair added, "I don’t either."

"I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I misspoke," the doctor apologized profusely.

Adrian Quincy interrupted, "What’s next?"

The doctor quickly said, "If you don’t need a recording of the 4D ultrasound, then you’re free to go."

Adrian Quincy immediately looked down at his wife’s face. "Claire, do you want to have it recorded?"

Claire Sinclair thought for a moment, then shook her head. "No, it’s fine. The baby isn’t fully formed yet, so he wouldn’t be able to make sense of it even if we showed it to him later. It doesn’t seem very meaningful."

"Then we won’t record it. You can get up now."

"Mhm!" Claire Sinclair wiped the coupling gel off her belly and slowly sat up.

Adrian Quincy helped his wife out of the ultrasound room. Just as they were reaching the door, his phone vibrated.

Seeing that he was about to take the call, Claire Sinclair stood outside the door and waited for him.

She only heard him say one word: "Move."

Then his expression grew tense. It was the first time she had ever seen such a look on his face... though it wasn’t the first time he had worn that expression for her sake.

Back when the fake Mrs. Quincy had slapped her, causing her to go into cardiac arrest, he had been just as tense, terrified of losing his closest loved one. It was just that Claire Sinclair hadn’t seen it then.

He just stood there holding his phone, neither hanging up nor speaking.

After what felt like an eternity, a triumphant report came from the other end of the line: "Young Master Quincy, all kidnappers have been eliminated. We have no casualties on our side. Mrs. Quincy is safe and sound. Awaiting your orders."

"Bring Mother back immediately."

"Yes, sir!"
