Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Reporting In

After getting up, Shu Yao made a simple breakfast—one portion for Shu Xin, and one for Xiao Juzi. She didn’t have much of an appetite, so she just drank a bottle of nutrient solution.

"Yaoyao, your eldest uncle has already arranged your school. Get ready, and I’ll take you to go register."

Shu Xin was dressed elegantly and appropriately, but she didn’t demand that her daughter wear anything specific for the outing.

She knew her daughter had grown accustomed to freedom during her years away and didn’t want to go against her nature by restricting her. Even the new clothes she’d bought were chosen to match Shu Yao’s usual style.

In the Interstellar Federation, education from kindergarten to university was compulsory.

Shu Yao had gotten lost at age seven and had never attended elementary, middle, or high school. But she couldn’t possibly start from the beginning; after all, her age was a factor.

To spare her from any academic pressure or burden, the Shu Family had arranged everything.

Shu Yao just needed to go to Imperial High School to register, get her student status certified, score any random grade on the unified examination in June, and then use her second uncle’s connections to get into Imperial University’s Mystical Academy.

Everything was smooth sailing, all perfectly arranged.

Shu Yao knew the Shu Family was trying their best to make it up to her, so she chose to accept the arrangement silently.

But she also knew that once the Shu Family used their connections, it would inevitably become a source of gossip.

After all, the Shu Family was no ordinary family.

As Shu Yao was getting ready to leave, she instructed Xiao Juzi.

"Be a good boy and stay home with Grandma. Mommy is just going out for a bit and will be right back."

Xiao Juzi wouldn’t have it.

Shu Xin was taken aback.

Shu Yao, who was putting on her shoes, had her back to them.

"Mom, I can go by myself."

"Wherever Mommy goes, I go!" Xiao Juzi clung to her.

Shu Yao put on a stern, somewhat fierce expression and deliberately told him in a very serious tone, "If you don’t make your grandma happy today, just you wait and see if I don’t give you a spanking when I get back!"

Xiao Juzi pouted and backed away, wringing his little hands. His obsidian-like eyes grew misty, a mixture of fear and grievance.

Shu Xin wanted to speak but stopped herself.

She suddenly realized that her daughter seemed to be creating an opportunity for her and her little grandson to be alone and bond.

Seeing her daughter to the main gate, Shu Xin gave a few special instructions: "Your eldest uncle has already spoken with Principal Xu at the high school. Someone will be there to meet you at the school gate. If anyone gives you a hard time, you tell me and your eldest uncle..."

"Mom, don’t worry."

Watching Shu Yao board the Flying Machine and fly away, an uneasy expression crossed Shu Xin’s face.

’She’s just going to register at school. Nothing should go wrong...’

「Imperial High School.」

At that moment, a stuffy-looking middle-aged woman, from her features to her attire, was waiting impatiently at the school gate.

’As the best high school in the entire Federation, Imperial High School sends many talented students to various universities every year and had never set a precedent for letting someone in through the back door. I have no idea what Principal Xu was thinking, putting a girl who never even attended elementary or middle school into a graduating high school class. I heard she’s a plebeian from the Lower Star District! Had a relationship with some questionable man at seventeen, and gave birth at eighteen! In the entire history of Imperial High School, there has never been such an indecent student!’

When she saw Shu Yao stepping down from the Flying Machine, the middle-aged woman was momentarily stunned.

’In all her years as an educator, she had seen countless students, but never had one struck her as so stunning.’

Shu Yao was beautiful, her dark, shining eyes especially captivating. The natural radiance about her seemed to make everything else pale in comparison.

Her cheap white sweater had several snags and holes in it, with broken threads sticking out brazenly.

This casual, yet untamed, style didn’t look out of place on her in the slightest, despite her serene demeanor.

Seeing the "tattered" clothes she was wearing, a flicker of disgust and contempt showed in the middle-aged woman’s eyes.

"You’re Shu Yao, right? Follow me," she said, her tone less than friendly.

Shu Yao nodded politely.

The middle-aged woman didn’t see the gesture. The moment the words left her mouth, she had already turned and walked through the school gates.

Shu Yao followed nonchalantly, taking in the sights of the Imperial High School campus while making sure not to fall behind.
