Chapter 194: It’s Time For Final Lesson

Chapter 194: It’s Time For Final Lesson

"Since you insist on doing this, don’t blame me either. I will make sure to take you down with me, even if that’s the last thing I do, The Divine Blood Empress!!!"

The Black Dragon King’s body convulsed violently, power radiating off his body, and then something inside him seemed to snap entirely.

Black veins of pure destruction split open across his scales like cracks running through glass, spreading faster and faster until his entire body had become a walking fracture in reality itself.

Where his flesh should have been, there was only a hollow, screaming void, tearing apart the air around him with every passing second. Even the ground beneath his shattered form began to unravel, disappearing into nothing as if existence itself refused to acknowledge his shape anymore.

"Aunt Ruby!!" Raiden shouted, his voice cracking. "What is he doing?!"

"He’s givingg up on survivingg," Ruby answered calmly, though for the first time, a flicker of caution crossed her ancient eyes. "This is a suicidee technique. He’s turningg his own bodyy into a weapon of puree destruction."

The King let out one final, ragged roar, and then hurled himself directly at her. The world started to disintegrate everywhere he passed; his power of the law of destruction was going haywire.

He did not attack with claws or breath this time. He simply became the attack, his entire hollowed, disintegrating body crashing into her coils like a bomb. The moment of impact tore a hole through the sky itself, a soundless white flash that swallowed the clouds for kilometres in every direction.

BOOOOOOM!!!

The shockwave alone flattened what remained of the battlefield, sending debris and broken earth flying for miles. Raiden was thrown backwards despite the shield still wrapped around him, his ears ringing painfully as he clawed his way back up, desperate to see what had happened.

Ruby was still there.

Her massive crimson body had wrapped even tighter around the King’s disintegrating form, holding him in place with a grip that refused to loosen even as chunks of her own scales boiled away from the destructive backlash.

She was not fighting him off anymore. She was containing him, absorbing an explosion that should have levelled a continent, refusing to let a single fragment of it escape toward the humans behind her.

"AAAAARGH!!!" the King screamed, his voice distorted and inhuman now, barely resembling speech. "If I die, you die with me!!"

Ruby didn’t just stand there taking the hits. She summoned two gigantic blood arms to hold him down as even more massive spear of blood formed in front of her, easily dwarfing him in true size.

"Go."

That spear launched with a sonic boom, tearing across the landscape as it hit its mark.

Seeing there was no way to dodge, he let out a destructive beam of Breath himself, meeting the attack head-on.

BANG!!!!!

But despite burning everything he had- his life, his energy, his very existence, he was not able to block that attack as the Crimson Blood Spear drew closer and closer.

Even after doing everything, he was just not her match.

Just as the large spear was about to pierce him, he forcefully turned his body to the side, managing to dodge the fatal strike at just the last moment.

But he wasn’t completely successful in avoiding the attack, as this spear hit his left side, vaporising the wing off completely.

"Do you really think you can win?!! I will make sure to take you down with me, even if that’s the last thing I do!!!!"

The Black Dragon moved again, using his own body as a weapon, crashing directly into the gigantic Crimson Python, detonating his tail.

BOOM!!

He detonated again.

And again.

Each explosion was worse than the last, each one aimed at tearing through Ruby’s body from the inside, using his own dissolving existence as fuel.

Raiden watched in horror as thin cracks began forming across Ruby’s scales, tiny at first, then spreading like old wounds reopening after years of healing.

In front of Raiden’s eyes, Ruby’s true body coughed violently, blood spilling from her lips onto the ground in front of her.

But none of them noticed that. None of them, but one person. All they could see was her crimson form trembling, ever so slightly, as she held the King in place through blast after blast.

"Aunt Ruby, that’s enough!! Let him go!!" Raiden screamed, panic clawing up his throat. "You’re hurt!! I can see it!! Please, stop!!"

"Rai Rai~," Ruby said, and for the first time since this entire fight began, her voice did not stretch playfully.

It was quiet and steady, almost tender. "Doo nott worryy aboutt mee. I have been livingg on a borrowedd timee."

A bad feeling started to well up inside Raiden’s chest as he heard her.

The King’s body convulsed one final time, gathering everything he had left, every last drop of unravelling destruction, into one last desperate detonation aimed directly at Ruby’s core.

Ruby did not try to dodge it.

She turned her head toward Raiden instead, her golden eyes soft in a way he had never seen from her before, not once in all the years she had watched over the farm.

"Takee caree off yourr sisterr," she said. "Noo matterr whatt happenss, protectt herr withh everythingg youu havee. Promisee mee thatt."

"W-what are you talking about?" Raiden’s voice trembled. "You’re going to be fine, right? Right, Aunt Ruby?! Don’t do this!!!"

She did not answer that.

The Black Dragon King grew even more rampant, fighting her.

"Watch how I tear your city apart!! Watch how you fail to protect your loved ones and how I will take them down with me. And you would not be able to do anything once again!!! Just like the last time. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

The Black Dragon King gathered all the remaining energy within himself.

"I have been veryy veryy proudd of personn you havee becomee, Rai Rai~ Your Mom would have been veryy proudd..."

"NO!!! Don’t do this, Aunt Ruby!!! DON’T LEAVE ME AND SYLVIA ALONE!! WE NEED YOU!!! AUNT RUBY!!!"

Her enormous body coiled one final time around the disintegrating King, tighter than before, pulling him fully into her embrace as the destructive light around him grew blinding.

"Itt’ss timee forr thee finall lessonn, Rai Rai~" she said softly. "Watchh closelyy."

"Aunt Ruby??...AUNT RUBY!!!"
