I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me
Chapter 148: The Next Method to Achieve Monetization
Just as Ophelia reached the bedroom door, she happened to overhear Laxus’s heartfelt confession. An indulgent smile graced her lips.
“Laxus has finally taken that step,” she thought.
Deciding not to enter the room and disturb their tender moment, she turned around and returned to her own bedroom. She planned to enter her spatial dimension to check the ingredients needed for the golden sore medicine and other healing salves. She wanted to use this free time to quickly plant the medicinal herbs.
The timing was perfect; another batch of castor and jute plants in the space had just ripened. After harvesting them, she flipped through the medical book rewarded by the system. She found the herbs required for the golden sore medicine and planted them. Since she needed them urgently, she bought a fertilizer acceleration pack. Within just a short hour, the medicinal herbs for the golden sore medicine were fully grown and harvested. Just in case, Ophelia also planted herbs for fever-reducing medicine and White Life-saving Pills.
To her great surprise, the medical book actually contained the prescription for White Life-saving Pills. After all, this was a highly classified formula. White Life-saving Pills were incredibly effective for treating external wounds and trauma. Initially, she had been a little worried that the medicines from her space wouldn’t be enough to cure Laxus. Now, with the White Life-saving Pills, she was completely at ease. Once the planting was done, Ophelia took the Life-saving Pill and headed to Laxus’s room.
Laxus had already fallen into a deep sleep. Ali sat by the edge of the bed, staring at him nervously. Seeing Ophelia walk in, Ali’s cheeks grew hot.
“Ophelia, I…”
“You don’t need to say anything, I know,” Ophelia teased with a smile. “Congratulations, Ali. You can finally become partners with the person you like. However, Laxus will still have to get Klein’s approval first.”
Ali turned her head to gaze at Laxus’s handsome face. “I believe he can definitely do it.”
She had already made up her mind. Even if her brother disagreed when the time came, she would throw a tantrum until he gave in. No one could stop her from becoming Laxus’s partner.
“Laxus, wake up.” Ophelia walked over and gently patted Laxus’s shoulder.
Ali looked worried. “Ophelia, he just fell asleep. Let him rest a little longer.”
“No, he must take this medicine as soon as possible. The longer we wait, the less effective it will be.”
Hearing this, Ali stopped trying to persuade her.
Males inherently possessed sensitive hearing, and Laxus had woken up at Ophelia’s very first call.
“Laxus, take this medicine and your injury will heal,” Ophelia said. “Ali, go pour a bowl of water.”
Ali obediently ran to the nearby table and poured a bowl of water. The two women then helped Laxus sit up in bed. Although their movements were gentle, they still aggravated the wound on Laxus’s leg. Fresh blood immediately oozed out, and Ali gasped in alarm.
“Ophelia, he’s bleeding!”
“Don’t worry, the bleeding will stop once I apply the medicine.”
After Laxus swallowed the pill, Ophelia unwrapped the bandages on his leg. Seeing the gruesome injury on his thigh again made her heart ache. Ali’s eyes immediately reddened.
“It’s all my fault. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have gotten hurt.”
Seeing both his sister and Ali looking so distressed, Laxus hurriedly comforted them. “It really doesn’t hurt. Males have strong regenerative abilities, so don’t worry. An injury like this will heal in just a few days.”
Ophelia fought back the sour prickle in her nose and sprinkled the golden sore medicine powder over Laxus’s wound. The bleeding stopped very quickly. Because of her intense concentration, a thin layer of sweat beaded on Ophelia’s forehead.
“I’ll go brew some medicine for you. Drinking it will help with the pain,” she said.
Laxus forced a smile on his pale lips. “Okay. Thank you.”
Ophelia shot him a reproachful glare. “We’re siblings, there’s no need to say thank you. Ali, stay here and continue taking care of Laxus. I’ll go brew the medicine. Come find me if you need anything.”
Ali gave a shy nod.
Thanks to Ophelia’s medicine, Laxus—who had been declared by the clan doctor as never being able to stand again—was back on his feet in just half a month, his strength completely unaffected.
When Laxus stood perfectly fine in front of everyone, they were all stunned. Everyone’s eyes fell on his injured thigh. Laxus’s legs were long and straight, but a chunk of flesh was visibly missing from his muscular thigh. It was a shocking sight, yet simultaneously astonishing. It was an absolute miracle that Laxus had recovered so well from such a severe injury.
Even the clan doctor of the Fuzu Tribe was incredibly surprised. “Laxus, did you use healing medicine? How much did you use?”
The clan doctor was shocked by Laxus’s apparent wealth; for his injury to heal to this extent, he must have used a massive amount of expensive medicine.
“I didn’t use that. I used the medicine Ophelia gave me. The effects are even better than the medicine you were talking about.”
“There’s actually such miraculous medicine in the Beast World?” The clan doctor was in utter disbelief. He turned to look at Ophelia. “Ophelia, where did you get this medicine? Is it very precious?”
“That’s right, Clan Leader, could you give us some of this medicine? We’ll trade you Crystal Stones for it!”
Seeing this, the other males present quickly chimed in. After all, as males, going out to hunt frequently meant that injuries were unavoidable. They could just grit their teeth and endure minor injuries, but severe ones could easily result in crippling disabilities or even death. If they could carry such medicine on them, it would provide an extra layer of security for their lives.
“I only have a little bit of this medicine left, and I’m running low on the herbs needed to make it,” Ophelia explained. “Wait until I forage a bit more. I’ll notify you all once I’ve gathered enough herbs.”
Seeing the males’ sheer enthusiasm for the healing medicine opened up a whole new world of possibilities for Ophelia. Now that her farming and breeding ventures had entered a stage of stable development, she needed to figure out another way to quickly monetize her resources and earn Crystal Stones. Based on today’s turnout, she had already solidified her next goal.
She was going to grow herbs and sell medicine.
After all, medical skills in the Beast World were currently very rudimentary. A simple fever or cold could cost someone their life. Because of this, medicine was incredibly precious, and the clan doctors would only use it on female cubs. When males got injured, they could only rely on their own regenerative abilities to tough it out.
Her medical book contained numerous prescriptions for treating colds, fevers, and more. These cold medicines and fever reducers were essential household items, which meant there would definitely be a massive market for them.
“Is that so? Then once you’ve made the medicine, you must notify us immediately.”
“Yes, please do!”
The males’ eyes were filled with a desperate yearning for survival. Suddenly entrusted with such a heavy responsibility, Ophelia felt a surge of emotion.
“Alright. However, I still have some medicine for colds and fevers. If you need it, you can come pick it up in three days.”
“You actually have medicine for colds and fevers too?”
“I want some! My little female has a weak constitution and gets sick easily. With this medicine, I won’t have to worry about her falling ill anymore.”
“But are the effects of this medicine really that good?” one male questioned.
Another male immediately stepped forward to vouch for Ophelia. “You newcomers don’t know, but during the epidemic fever last rainy season, it was Ophelia’s medicine that cured everyone.”
“That’s right! If Ophelia says it works, then it definitely works.”
Seeing the veteran members of the Fuzu Tribe speak with such certainty, the newly joined tribesmen were instantly reassured.
