I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me

Chapter 149: Medicine Selling Business

  • Next Chapter

Hearing that Ophelia had quite a bit of medicine on hand, the clan doctor’s eyes lit up. “Ophelia, how do you plan to trade them?”

Ophelia thought for a moment. “Medicine for colds and fevers will cost one Red Crystal Stone per dose.

“As for the White Life-saving Pills and golden sore medicine, they will be one Yellow Crystal Stone per bottle.”

“It’s that cheap?” The clan doctor found it a bit hard to believe. In some High-level Tribes, just a little bit of cold and fever medicine could sell for a Cyan Crystal Stone. The medicine Ophelia had was so effective, yet it only cost one Red Crystal Stone. It was an absolute bargain.

“If any of you want some, you can spend the next few days saving up Crystal Stones and come collect the medicine in three days,” she announced.

One Red Crystal Stone was equal to ten prey animals. Hearing this, the males were fired up. Gearing up for action, they dispersed and headed out of the tribe to hunt.

“Ophelia, what made you think of selling medicine?” Zerev asked. Ever since he learned about her mysterious space, he was no longer as surprised by the things she could produce.

“Well, the medical skills here are lacking. A simple illness can cost people their lives, and I want to change that,” Ophelia explained.

“Besides, medicine brings in better rewards. Since heaven has given me such a great opportunity, I should do something with it.

“When I take the medicine to sell at the shops by the city wall, it will definitely be a huge hit.

“Also, it’s been a few days since we checked on the corn outside. We have some free time today, so let’s go take a look.”

“Alright,” Zerev agreed.

Tyler had gone up the mountain to hunt today, so Zerev was accompanying Ophelia. Ophelia carried Wendy while Zerev carried the two little male cubs, and they headed toward the tribe’s shops. This was the three little ones’ first time leaving the tribe proper. Seeing so many people at the shops by the city wall, their eyes darted everywhere, overwhelmed by the novelty.

“Mother, Mother. That thing is bright and shiny, so pretty!” Wendy’s chubby little hand pointed toward a shop.

Displayed inside the shop were several fist-sized pearls, along with some sparkling Ice Crystal Stones. The shop’s owner was none other than their old acquaintance, Lam.

“Mother, Wendy wants it,” she pleaded.

The eldest, Kohen, glanced at the pearls. “They just look nice, but they aren’t practical.”

The second child, Dan’er, quickly chimed in. “Yeah, you can’t eat them or play with them. They’re boring.”

Shot down by both her older brothers in succession, Wendy’s little face puffed up in anger, her beautiful grape-like eyes filling with glittering tears.

Seeing his daughter wronged, Zerev shot a cold glare at the two male cubs in his arms. “If you don’t know how to speak properly, keep your mouths shut.” Under their father’s oppressive aura, both Kohen and Dan’er pressed their lips tightly together. Wendy hugged Ophelia’s neck, sniffling softly.

Ophelia found her daughter both delicate and adorable, so she planted a kiss on Wendy’s soft, fair cheek. “Don’t listen to your brothers. If you like it, Mother will take you to see it.”

Seeing that her parents weren’t angry with her for liking impractical things, Wendy’s mood instantly brightened. With a radiant smile, she cast a triumphant look at her two older brothers. Her gaze seemed to say that their father and mother loved her the most. The two boys knew they had spoken out of turn and made their sister cry, so they chose to silently endure Wendy’s provocation.

Ophelia carried Wendy over to the shop. As soon as Lam caught sight of her, he hurried over to greet them. “Ophelia, you’re here. Are Laxus’s injuries healing well?”

Ali’s recent arena tournament had been a massive spectacle, and Lam had naturally gone to watch the excitement. He had even dragged Sail along to sell nuts and sunflower seeds around the venue.

“Thank you for asking. He’s fine now,” Ophelia replied.

Lam winked at her. “I saw Ali and Laxus together the day before yesterday. They looked quite intimate. Are they…” He trailed off, but his meaning was clear enough.

Ophelia offered a faint smile. “We actually have you to thank for that.”

“Of course! I even took a beating from Laxus because of it. It hurt so much I had to rest for days.” Lam was never one to take a loss in silence; he immediately laid out his grievances.

Ophelia burst into laughter. “As compensation, I’ll place the medicine I make in your shop to sell. For every twenty doses sold, you’ll receive one Red Crystal Stone as a reward.” It was essentially a commission.

Lam’s eyes instantly gleamed, and he grinned broadly. “That sounds great.”

“Mother, bright and shiny.” Wendy was just a child, after all, and severely lacked patience. Seeing her mother continuously failing to bring up the bright and shiny things, she squirmed her little body and babbled loudly. Thus, the attention of everyone present fell entirely upon her.

Noticing Wendy’s little hand pointing at the pearls and Ice Crystal Stones, Lam tactfully picked up two pieces and placed them in her hands. “Here, take these to play with. But they aren’t for eating, just for playing.” Lam tapped Wendy’s little nose, a fond smile on his face.

Wendy’s mind was entirely consumed by the bright and shiny objects; she didn’t hear a word he said. The moment Lam finished speaking, her toothless mouth clamped down on a pearl. Without teeth, she could only gently gnaw on it with her gums.

“PTUI, PTUI, PTUI.” After gnawing on it for a while and tasting absolutely nothing, Wendy spat in disgust. “Mother, it tastes bad.”

Amused by her daughter’s disgusted reaction, Ophelia reached out and tapped the girl’s forehead with a chuckle. “Mr. Lam already told you, these aren’t for eating.”

“Okay.” Looking pitiful, Wendy nonetheless hugged the pearl and Ice Crystal Stone tighter to her chest. Seeing this, Ophelia knew her daughter truly liked them.

“How much to trade for these pearls and Ice Crystal Stones?” Ophelia asked.

Lam was utterly surprised that she could recognize them. He had traded for these items down by the southern seaside a long time ago. However, because they were pretty but useless, few people wanted them, so they had just been gathering dust. He only put them on display now to make his new shop look better stocked. Even so, very few males ever took a liking to them. Occasionally, a few young females would fancy them, but they always gave up on the idea once they heard the price was a Red Crystal Stone.

“No need for a trade. Take them for the little female cub to play with. Consider it a greeting gift,” Lam offered generously.

“Alright, then come to my stone house in three days to pick up the medicine.” Ophelia didn’t stand on ceremony with him and finalized the details of their medicine-selling arrangement.

Just as Ophelia was preparing to head back, she caught sight of an elderly male crouching under a large tree nearby. He had graying hair and a sallow complexion, and he looked somewhat familiar.

Ophelia turned back and asked, “Who is that?”

“His name is Fei Luo. He used to sell pottery at the trading market. He heard everyone was coming to the wall shops, so he followed suit and set up a stall here,” Lam explained, having already scouted out the old man’s background. “But people don’t really like pottery, so his business hasn’t been doing well.”

“So it’s him.” Talk about perfect timing. She had just been worrying about what to store her golden sore medicine powder and Life-saving Pills in. Pottery was the perfect solution—it was both heat-resistant and moisture-proof, allowing for long-term storage.

“Fei Luo, do you remember me?” Ophelia walked over with Wendy in her arms and initiated the greeting.

Fei Luo raised his cloudy eyes. It took him only a few seconds to recognize her. “Ah, it’s you, little female.”
