Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Laxus’s Heartfelt Confession

Seeing Laxus in this state, Ali was deeply moved.

A faint glimmer of hope sparked within her. She felt that Laxus must like her; otherwise, he wouldn’t have fought so hard for her that he ended up covered in injuries.

Laxus did not give up. He transformed into his Golden Dragon form and fiercely attacked Kosa. Kosa, in turn, shifted into a snow wolf, nimbly dodging Laxus’s strikes. But Laxus, even while covered in wounds, was determined to land a hit. Under such a reckless, desperate assault, several new gashes appeared on Kosa’s body.

Laxus’s desperate counterattack completely infuriated Kosa. A dark glint flashed in the wolf’s eyes as his gaze locked onto the Golden Dragon’s thigh. Clawing at the dirt with all four limbs, he lunged fiercely at the dragon’s leg.

The snow wolf’s sharp teeth sank into the Golden Dragon’s thigh, and blood quickly spilled out. The Golden Dragon hurriedly swatted at the snow wolf with his front claws, but the wolf refused to let go.

"Kosa, stop! I agree to be your mate. Just don’t hurt Laxus anymore!" Ali finally couldn’t help but cry out when she saw this.

Yet even after she said that, Kosa still had no intention of letting Laxus go.

Laxus breathed out a puff of dragon breath. "Ali, don’t beg him."

In the end, the snow wolf tore a chunk of flesh right off the Golden Dragon’s leg. Seizing the moment the wolf opened its jaws, the Golden Dragon struck its shoulder viciously with his sharp claws. The sheer force of the blow sent the snow wolf flying, crashing violently into a nearby tree.

The tree, as thick as a water barrel, snapped clean in half.

The snow wolf lay on the ground, letting out a painful howl. Immediately after, he shifted back into his human form.

With a violent cough, Kosa spat out a mouthful of blood.

"You’re ruthless, Laxus!" Kosa spat out the chunk of flesh in his mouth, his eyes filled with venomous resentment.

"You lose." Laxus also shifted back into his human form, his eyes bursting with a bright gleam. He had won. Ali wouldn’t have to become Kosa’s mate anymore.

"My strength wasn’t enough, and I admit my defeat. But I will be back." Kosa struggled to his feet. Clutching his wounded shoulder, he turned and limped toward the tribal gates.

Seeing that the show was over, the other males also took their leave one by one.

Once everyone was gone, Laxus’s body went limp, and he dropped to one knee.

"Laxus!"

"Laxus, how are you?" Ophelia and Ali rushed forward.

Tyler and Zerev also hurried over to support him.

"My leg can’t hold me up," he admitted weakly.

Laxus had been holding on purely by willpower. Now that the crowd was gone, his remaining strength completely vanished. Beads of sweat seeped from his forehead due to the intense pain, and his face was terrifyingly pale from the massive blood loss.

"Quick, carry Laxus back to the stone house," Ophelia ordered, quickly composing herself.

Tyler and Zerev carried Laxus and hurried back toward their home. Since the stone house already had rooms set aside for Rebecca and Leon, Laxus was immediately placed in a separate room.

A male from the Fu Clan who had been watching from the sidelines had also run off early to fetch the tribal doctor.

The tribal doctor examined the wounds on Laxus’s body and kept shaking his head.

"Laxus is wounded too deeply. There’s a chunk of flesh missing from his leg. I’m afraid he won’t be able to stand up in the future.

"Moreover, in his condition, he’ll need top-tier medicine to recover. That medicine isn’t cheap—even a tiny amount costs one Cyan Crystal Stone.

"And even if we use it, it might not be effective."

Hearing the doctor’s prognosis, everyone’s expressions changed.

Tears streamed down Rebecca’s face. "Then what should we do now? We can’t just leave him like this!"

"Doctor, stop Laxus’s bleeding first," Ophelia said calmly.

She had checked him just moments ago. Laxus hadn’t broken any bones; he was only missing a chunk of flesh. Since it was flesh from the thigh, it wasn’t overly critical. As long as the bleeding was stopped and some antiseptic medicine was applied, he would be fine.

The medical books she received as a reward from the System Space could cure all sorts of bizarre ailments. A physical trauma like this was nothing for those books. As long as the bleeding stopped, she could grow the necessary herbs according to the prescription and make the antiseptic medicine herself.

"Alright, that’s all I can do for now anyway." The tribal doctor took out some powder from his medicine box and sprinkled it over Laxus’s wounds.

Half an hour later, the doctor had treated both the injury on Laxus’s leg and the gashes on his body. The bleeding was finally stopped, and the wounds were tightly wrapped in Beast Skin Gauze. After finishing up, the tribal doctor left.

Seeing Rebecca sobbing uncontrollably, Ophelia gently coaxed her out of the room.

Only Ali was left. With red, puffy eyes, she stared at Laxus on the bed.

Seeing her worried expression, Laxus weakly waved her over. "Ali, come here." ℴℴ𝘮

Ali bit her lower lip and slowly walked to his bedside.

"Laxus, does it still hurt?" she asked, her voice choking with sobs.

Laxus smiled and shook his head. "It doesn’t hurt anymore. Don’t worry, these wounds will heal in no time."

Hearing Laxus comfort her despite his own critical condition, Ali couldn’t hold back anymore. She collapsed against the edge of the bed and burst into tears.

"You don’t have to lie to me! I saw a male who got hurt exactly like this before, and in the end, he couldn’t be cured and died.

"I don’t want you to die."

Seeing how heartbroken Ali was, Laxus gently stroked the top of her head. "I’m still waiting to become your mate. I won’t die."

At the word "mate," Ali blankly raised her head. "What did you say?"

Seeing Ali’s dazed expression, Laxus couldn’t help but chuckle. His chest heaved violently, pulling at his wounds. The sharp pain made him gasp. "Hiss..."

"Laxus, are you okay?" Ali panicked, suddenly flustered and unsure of what to do.

A second later, her wrist was caught by a burning-hot hand, and she was pulled right onto the bed. She tumbled into a warm embrace that smelled faintly of blood.

"I said, I like you. I want to become your mate."

Ali was absolutely stunned. "Wh—what did you just say?"

"Are you worried that if word of today’s incident gets out, it will ruin your reputation?" he continued gently. "Don’t worry. I’ll just tell everyone that I was the one who didn’t want you, so it’s not your fault."

Though Ali had always secretly hoped for this, she didn’t want Laxus to become her mate purely out of pity over what happened today.

"It’s not because of what happened today," Laxus added earnestly, seeing right through her. "I’ve always liked you. I just felt that I wasn’t good enough for you, which is why I never dared to confess my feelings."

"Then why are you saying it now? Is it because Kosa provoked you?"

Laxus’s voice grew thick with emotion. "You could say that. If Kosa of the Snow Wolf Clan can do it, why can’t I?"

"Do you really like me?" Ali wanted to confirm it one more time.

Seeing the lingering doubt in Ali’s eyes, Laxus tilted his head slightly and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

"Ali, I like you. I want to be your mate.

"When Klein gets here, I’ll do everything in my power to make him agree to let us become mates."

"I’ll become your mate even without my brother’s approval," Ali declared.

Now certain that their feelings were mutual, Ali finally cast aside her reservations. Reverting to her usual proud, little princess demeanor, she waved her hand grandly in a reassuring gesture.

"But I hope you can get your brother’s blessing," Laxus replied softly. "And I want to prove to him that I can bring you happiness."

A male who was typically a man of few words could always utter the most touching vows when facing his beloved.
