Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Fine, I’ll Fight You

Ali and Rebecca gazed at Laxus with expectant eyes.

Laxus knitted his brows tightly, seemingly deep in thought. After pondering for a long time, he still didn’t say a word. Seeing him like this, Kosa couldn’t help but feel even more smug.

"Then it looks like Ali’s first mate will definitely be me," Kosa declared.

Watching the arrogant expression on his face, Ali’s eyes reddened.

"Brother, what on earth are you thinking? What are you hesitating for?" Ophelia stomped her feet in anxiety as she watched from the sidelines.

Rebecca also spoke up, equally agitated. "That’s right, Laxus! Ali is such a wonderful young female. Even if you two become mates, you won’t be losing out at all."

Seeing Laxus’s indecision, Ali bit her lip and said resentfully, "You don’t need to say anymore, Rebecca. Worst comes to worst, I’ll just become mates with Kosa."

Seeing Ali compromise, Kosa nodded. "Then there’s no need for the rest of the competition. Just announce me as the winner."

Tyler pursed his lips. "Princess, not a single word out of Kosa’s mouth is true. We can’t let him become mates with Ali. If she mates with him, she’ll be ruined."

Kosa completely ignored the resistance from Tyler and the others. He stepped forward and reached out, trying to pull Ali into his arms. Ali dodged and hid behind Ophelia. However, Kosa refused to give up, still reaching out to drag her out from behind Ophelia.

"Kosa, she doesn’t want to be your mate. Why force it?" Ophelia said with a stern expression. "Even if you two get together, you won’t be happy."

Kosa sneered. "Even if we aren’t happy, she’s still the sister of the White Tiger King. Mating with her won’t be a loss for me. Once Ali and I are mates, my new brother-in-law will definitely support me."

He didn’t hide his intentions at all, directly stating his true goal.

"Don’t even think about it! I would never let Laxus help you," Ali said indignantly.

"You don’t get a say in this. With you in my hands, he won’t have a choice but to help me." Kosa’s words were incredibly blunt, even carrying a hint of a threat.

Zerev narrowed his eyes, a rare smile appearing on his usually calm face. Of course, he was laughing out of sheer anger. He had never seen someone so utterly shameless in his life, someone who would so openly display their greed and wickedness.

"Kosa, don’t push it too far." Ophelia’s eyes widened into a fierce glare. "We don’t even need to wait for Klein to arrive. I will absolutely never let Ali become mates with you."

"That’s not up to you, Ophelia," Kosa sneered. "As long as I win today, don’t even think about getting rid of me."

In reality, even if he didn’t win, he would never give up such a golden opportunity to latch onto the White Tiger King.

"Fine. I’ll fight you," Laxus suddenly declared. "I won’t give you the chance to mate with Ali."

"Laxus, don’t you dislike Ali? Why force yourself?" Kosa’s eyes were brimming with provocation.

"I don’t."

"What?" Kosa was completely baffled.

"I don’t dislike Ali, and I’m not forcing myself," Laxus stated, his face dead serious.

Seeing Laxus finally face his true feelings, Ophelia’s stifled frustration finally eased a little.

Crystal-clear tears streamed from Ali’s eyes. She could hardly believe it. She didn’t know if Laxus truly liked her, or if he was just saying that to resolve the current predicament. She lowered her head, unwilling to let anyone see her cry.

Then, a rough thumb gently wiped the tears from her cheeks. Laxus’s steady voice came from above her. "Don’t be afraid. I’m here."

"Mhm," Ali nodded, choking back her sobs.

"Fine. Since you insist, I’ll make you all give up completely." Kosa turned to look at the last remaining male in the arena. "Do you want to take a beating, or are you going to surrender?"

Stared down by those icy eyes, the male felt the pain from his existing injuries flare up even more. "N-no more," he stammered, his voice trembling. "I surrender."

"Then let’s begin." Kosa rolled his neck, cracked his knuckles, and flexed his muscles, clearly gearing up for a fierce battle.

Laxus also hurried to get into a combat-ready stance. Like a spark to dry tinder, the fight broke out instantly.

Laxus was a Dragon Beast, and his overall strength was far greater than Kosa’s. However, his opponent’s moves were bizarre and unpredictable, constantly catching him off guard. Kosa even launched rapid strikes at Laxus’s lower body, attacking so swiftly that Laxus was forced entirely onto the defensive.

The two engaged in a bitter melee for about an hour, and Laxus’s stamina was significantly depleted. Kosa’s forehead was also dripping with sweat.

As Laxus’s defensive movements slowed down, it wasn’t long before his arms and shoulders were covered in deep gashes from Kosa’s sharp claws.

"Laxus, be careful!" Ali watched from the sidelines, her heart in her throat.

Rebecca was equally frantic. "He’s hurt." Seeing her son injured, Rebecca’s eyes turned red. Yet, she also knew that this concerned Ali’s future happiness, and there could be no compromise.

Ophelia watched the fight with bated breath. She remained silent, her eyes locked unblinkingly onto Laxus.

Right at that moment, Kosa suddenly launched an attack at Laxus’s lower body from an incredibly tricky angle. Ophelia’s heart instantly leaped into her throat.

Laxus acutely caught sight of Kosa’s strike and narrowly dodged it. But because he evaded so violently, he twisted his ankle. A sharp pain shot up from his foot, slowing his speed even further.

The situation on the battlefield took a sharp turn for the worse as Kosa gained the upper hand.

From then on, Kosa wasn’t in any rush to strike Laxus down. Instead, he started to toy with him, leading him around in circles as if teasing a stray dog. Ophelia, of course, saw right through his intentions.

Laxus could only drag his injured foot, chasing after Kosa in a sorry state. During this relentless game of cat and mouse, the claw marks on Laxus’s body multiplied. Blood quickly dyed his upper body red, making him look absolutely terrifying.

Seeing Laxus like this, Ali couldn’t hold back the tears she had just suppressed, and they began to stream down her face once more.

"Laxus, stop! Don’t fight anymore! If you keep going, you’re going to die! I’ll just become mates with Kosa!"

Rebecca’s heart also ached terribly. "She’s right, Laxus, just stop! The mating matter can still be discussed later. You’re hurt too badly; you need to find the clan healer immediately."

Ophelia’s hands, hanging by her sides, clenched tightly into fists. Her eyes gleamed with a piercing, icy chill. "Tyler," she asked in a low voice, "what are the odds of you being able to kill Kosa?"

"His moves are tricky; they’re specialized killing techniques. I’m not entirely sure myself," Tyler replied.

"Plus, he doesn’t seem to fear pain at all," Zerev added, drawing this conclusion after observing the fight for a long time.

Ophelia looked at Kosa in surprise. She noticed that he had also sustained quite a few injuries, his blood flowing freely with his intense movements. Yet, the man didn’t seem to care in the slightest, as if he genuinely couldn’t feel any pain.

After pondering for a long while, Ophelia finally spoke. "Wait until Kosa leaves the Fuzu Tribe, then go and kill him."

Once he was dead, Ali wouldn’t have to mate with him anyway.

"Understood. I will make sure he doesn’t live to see tomorrow’s sun," Zerev stated solemnly.

Hearing Zerev’s guarantee, Ophelia felt much more at ease. She shouted to Laxus, who was still stubbornly fighting, "Laxus, stop fighting! Give it up!"

Hearing even Ophelia speak up, an arrogant and triumphant look spread across Kosa’s face. "That’s right. If you don’t want me to beat you to death, Laxus, then just surrender."

"No. I will not surrender." Laxus spat out a mouthful of blood, his gaze exceptionally resolute.
