I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me
Chapter 120: Loki is Causing Trouble
Chapter 120: Chapter 120: Loki is Causing Trouble
But what was destined to come would eventually arrive. Before long, another strange rustling sound came from the grass.
The males of Ten Thousand Beasts City looked vigilantly toward the source of the sound, only to see several figures emerging from the ground.
Catching their scent, one of the Ten Thousand Beasts City males who recognized them raised his voice. "Cole, this is bad! They’re Wandering Beasts."
Cole was the captain of the Ten Thousand Beasts City males, and he immediately noticed something was amiss. His expression shifted, but he calmly instructed the men beside him. "One of you, go find Laxus and bring him back. The rest of you, stay with me and guard the rice."
His orders instantly steadied their morale. Cole led the remaining dozen or so males to fend off the approaching Wandering Beasts.
However, the number of Wandering Beasts kept increasing, eventually reaching over thirty. Before long, Cole and several Ten Thousand Beasts City males had sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, Laxus, who was hunting elsewhere, suddenly spotted a familiar figure.
"Why is Tyler here?" he wondered.
Seeing Tyler’s pace grow increasingly hurried, Laxus felt suspicious and followed him. As he walked, he noticed that Tyler seemed to be chasing after someone.
Up ahead, Loki saw that they were a good distance away from the males’ campsite and finally stopped in his tracks.
Tyler also halted, scanning his surroundings, but he found no sign of Ophelia. His eyes grew cold. "Where exactly is the Princess?"
Seeing his tense demeanor, Loki descended into madness. "Of course she isn’t here, you idiot!"
Only then did Tyler realize he had fallen for a decoy tactic to lure him away from the camp. He turned around to leave, but Loki launched an attack at him.
"Tyler, don’t even think about leaving now that you’re here."
Armed with the resolve to die, Loki fought with reckless abandon. For a moment, Tyler actually found it somewhat difficult to fend him off.
Loki’s attacks seemed chaotic, but there was a method to his madness—he had a clear target. He specifically targeted Tyler’s chest, which was exactly where Ophelia’s Mate Beast Mark was located. As long as he slashed through the Mate Beast Mark there, Tyler would become a Wandering Beast. Once Tyler became a Wandering Beast, all of his love for Ophelia would vanish.
Ophelia had caused Miche’s death, so he was going to make her taste the agony of losing a lover.
Tyler also sensed Loki’s intentions, so he became constrained in his fighting, no longer daring to let the other man get close to his Mate Beast Mark. But because of his hesitation, Loki gained the upper hand and left several gashes on his body.
"Hahaha, to think you’d see this day, Tyler!" Loki laughed as he relentlessly attacked.
Sure enough, having a weakness changed a person; it made them hold back when taking action.
Tyler was beaten back step by step. At this point, Loki was no longer solely focused on the Mate Beast Mark; his sharp claws swiped toward Tyler’s neck as well.
In the nick of time, a golden figure burst out from the grass. It was a two-meter-long Golden Dragon. It opened its jaws and bit into Loki’s shoulder, tearing off a chunk of flesh before viciously slamming him onto the ground.
Loki crashed to the ground, coughing up blood as he clutched his injured shoulder. "Haha, it’s too late! Even if I die, you all will pay the price."
He had long learned from the members of the Fuzu Tribe that Ophelia had promised to deliver three thousand five hundred catties of grain to the White Tiger King within a year. Now, as long as the Wandering Beasts succeeded in snatching those five hundred catties of rice, Ophelia wouldn’t be able to make up the total. When that time came, the White Tiger King, Klein, would take his anger out on her.
For the majestic White Tiger King to deal with a nameless Fuzu Tribe would be as easy as flipping his hand. Thinking of the dire situation Ophelia would face in the future, Loki felt that even his death would be worth it.
Hearing Loki’s words, both Tyler and Laxus paled.
Tyler wanted to step forward but was stopped by Laxus. "The grain is more important. Let’s hurry back."
Tyler pursed his lips, cast one last glance at Loki, and turned to leave. Not long after they left, Loki stood up from the ground and headed in another direction.
Back at the campsite, Tyler and Laxus returned to find the two sides locked in a fierce, chaotic battle. Seeing the sheer number of Wandering Beasts, Tyler’s eyes darkened. "The White Tiger Clan is closest to here. Go find Klein for reinforcements."
Laxus shook his head. "If anyone’s going, it should be you. You’re faster."
Tyler shoved Laxus. "Stop wasting time and go! If we wait any longer, it really will be too late."
Laxus gritted his teeth, turned around, and sprinted toward the White Tiger Clan.
Loki watched his departing figure, then transformed into his dragon form and joined the battlefield.
Meanwhile, back in the three-story stone house at the Fuzu Tribe.
"No."
"Tyler!"
Zerev, who was sleeping on the floor, heard the commotion and quickly got up to light the fire in the room. Seeing Ophelia covered in sweat, he hastily took out an animal skin handkerchief to wipe her face. "Ophelia, wake up."
But Ophelia was trapped in a nightmare, unable to wake up no matter what. As if she had encountered something terrifying in her dream, her white teeth bit down on her lower lip so hard that traces of blood seeped out.
Zerev felt both heartbroken and anxious seeing her like this. He furrowed his brows, grasped Ophelia’s hand, and pressed his fingernail into the webbing between her thumb and index finger.
The pain jolted Ophelia awake from her nightmare. She opened her eyes, sat up, and threw her arms around Zerev, her voice choked with sobs. "Zerev, I dreamed that something terrible happened to Tyler."
Seeing her red, tearful eyes, Zerev held her tightly in his arms and softly comforted her. "Dreams are usually the opposite of reality. Tyler will be fine."
"But the dream felt so real." It was as if it had played out right in front of her eyes.
"Don’t worry. The Beast Servant has already gone after them. If anything happens, he will bring Tyler and Laxus back immediately," Zerev said helplessly, left with no choice but to soothe Ophelia over and over again.
Ophelia hugged Zerev’s robust waist tightly, sobbing softly.
Zerev raised a hand to wipe her tears. "Be good and get some sleep. Tyler might be back by the time you wake up.
"You aren’t allowed to cry anymore, or else I’ll get angry."
Hearing Zerev say this, Ophelia held back her tears and nodded.
Zerev kissed her forehead and walked toward his bed on the floor. Indeed, even though Zerev had moved to the Fu Clan, he had taken the initiative to suggest they sleep in separate beds to avoid any awkwardness. Seeing this, Ophelia felt too embarrassed to invite him up to sleep in her bed.
But she was truly terrified tonight, so she pursed her lips and whispered, "Zerev, sleep with me."
Hearing Ophelia’s words, Zerev, who had just lifted his blanket, looked back in shock. "Ophelia, what did you say?"
Ophelia’s face flushed red, and she turned her head away. "If you didn’t hear me, then forget it."
Seeing that Ophelia was about to fly into a rage out of humiliation, Zerev didn’t dare test the waters any further. A smile touched his face as he grabbed his blanket and climbed into her bed. "You can’t take back what you’ve already said.
"We have to set a good example for the children."
Ophelia gave him a reproachful glare, then turned around in a huff to lie down, wrapping herself tightly in the blanket.
Even though Ophelia had her back to him, a faint smile lingered on Zerev’s lips. He gazed at Ophelia’s slender back, his eyes brimming with deep affection. "Don’t be afraid. I’m here."
