Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Ingrate, Daughter is About to Go Offline
In the Snow Wolf Clan, Amy was squatting by the tribe’s lake, playing with the waterweeds. At that moment, two little female cubs walked over. They picked up a rock from the ground and threw it into the lake, sending up a large splash of water.
Amy was drenched and instantly furious. "What are you doing?" she demanded, turning around and glaring at the two little females.
"Amy, your father has been stripped of his position as Clan Leader. You are no longer the most noble little female in the tribe.
"Before, we only put up with your bullying because of your father’s status. Now, you’re just like us—you don’t have that lofty title anymore.
"From now on, we will exact our revenge for all the past grudges."
After all, which family’s little female wasn’t raised with immense love and pampering? In the past, Amy had relied on her identity as the former Clan Leader’s granddaughter to bully the other little beastmen in the tribe. Later, when Loki became the Clan Leader, Amy grew even more arrogant and bossy, often ordering other little beastmen around to do her bullying for her. The girls had swallowed their anger in silence back then. But now that they finally had the chance, they were determined to make her taste the suffering they had endured.
"What nonsense are you talking about? I don’t believe it!" When Amy heard that her father had been removed as Clan Leader, it was as if a thunderbolt had struck her mind. With red eyes, she shouted, "Just you wait!"
With that, Amy turned and ran off.
One of the little females looked a bit worried. "She won’t go complain to Loki, will she?"
The older little female scoffed coldly. "So what if she does? After what her father did, what face does he have left to settle scores with us?"
Ever since Loki had become the Clan Leader, he had stirred up no shortage of trouble, causing the tribespeople to grow deeply dissatisfied with him. Now that he was stripped of his position, many people were just waiting to kick him while he was down. She wasn’t scared in the least.
Meanwhile, Amy ran crying to Loki’s stone house and threw herself straight into his arms. "Father, they all say you’ve been stripped of your position and won’t be the Clan Leader anymore. Is it true?"
Loki’s face was deathly grim. Looking at Amy, he couldn’t help but think of Ophelia. He grabbed Amy’s shoulders with his large hands and shouted harshly, "It’s all your mother’s fault! She’s the one who made your grandfather strip me of my title!
"It’s all her doing!"
Amy was frightened by Loki’s crazed demeanor. "Fa—Father, you’re hurting me."
"Your mother is so ruthless. Not only did she cause Miche’s death, but she also ruined my chance to be Clan Leader!"
"What? Miche is dead?" Amidst her shock, a faint sliver of secret delight crept into Amy’s heart.
Over this period, she had realized that Miche was the true love of her father’s life. In her father’s eyes, she could never compete with Miche. But now that Miche was dead, her father would only dote on her from now on.
Loki noticed the subtle upward curve of Amy’s lips. His voice grew hoarse. "You probably don’t know yet, Amy. Your mother established her own tribe, and she is a Clan Leader now, too.
"If you go to her, you will still be the most noble little female in the tribe. No one will ever dare bully you again," Loki tempted her with honeyed words.
"M-Mother became a Clan Leader too?" A look of pleasant surprise lit up Amy’s eyes.
"Yes. Moreover, her tribe grows a lot of rice. If you go to the Fuzu Tribe, you’ll have endless rice to eat."
Thinking about how long it had been since she last ate rice, Amy couldn’t help but lick her lips. "But Mother doesn’t want me anymore."
Secretly, she felt a pang of regret. She never should have treated her mother that way back then. Otherwise, given how much her mother used to dote on her, she would have been given anything she wanted. It wouldn’t be like living with her father—where there was neither fruit nor rice to be had. She truly regretted it.
Seeing Amy waver, Loki’s eyes darkened. He fetched a small basket from the corner. Inside the basket were a few green fruits. "Amy, you are Ophelia’s daughter, after all. As long as you admit your mistakes and beg her nicely, she will forgive you.
"Father can no longer be a Clan Leader, and I can’t bear to see you suffer with me.
"Take these fruits to the Fu Clan. Find your mother and apologize to her. That way, you can live with her in the Fu Clan."
Amy’s green eyes darted around, clearly tempted by the idea. "Okay, I’ll try."
Once her mind was made up, Loki took Amy to a spot not far outside the Fuzu Tribe. He pointed toward the location of the Fu Clan’s gates. "That is your mother’s tribe. It’s not convenient for me to go there, so I can only escort you this far."
"Fa—Father, I’m scared." Recalling the cold look Ophelia had once given her, Amy felt a wave of apprehension. She wondered if her mother would really forgive her.
"Don’t worry. Father will wait right here and watch you go inside. If your mother refuses, I’ll take you back home."
Loki was about to say something else when he saw a tall figure walking toward them. He hastily fled, abandoning Amy right where she stood.
Zerev furrowed his brows as he looked at the petite little female on the ground. "Which tribe are you from? Why are you here?"
Ever since Zerev learned he was going to be a father, something had shifted in his heart. Whenever he saw little beastmen, he would pay them special attention.
Amy looked at Zerev and said timidly, "I-I am Ophelia’s daughter. I want to see her."
Ophelia’s daughter?
Zerev did indeed find some resemblance to Ophelia in Amy’s face, though not much. She looked much more like her father, Loki.
Amy tugged at Zerev’s sleeve. "Can you take me to see her?" Since this male had appeared outside the Fuzu Tribe, she figured he was definitely a member of the Fuzu Tribe too.
"Come with me."
Although Zerev had never heard Ophelia mention Amy, he agreed upon considering that she was Ophelia’s flesh and blood.
Outside the three-story stone house in the Fuzu Tribe, Ophelia was sitting under the porch eaves, soaking up the sun for some calcium.
"Ophelia, look who’s here." Zerev felt a surge of joy as he looked at Ophelia’s belly, which had grown even larger.
Ophelia opened her eyes, but her expression immediately changed when she saw the little female standing next to Zerev. "Why is she here? Kick her out!"
Zerev astutely noticed the fury on Ophelia’s face. His heart sank, realizing he had made a mistake. "Ophelia, don’t be angry. I’ll take her away right now."
Seeing that Ophelia was about to drive her away before she could even say a word, Amy grew frantic. "Mother, I know I was wrong. Please forgive me!"
Ophelia refused to listen or even look at her. She turned and went back inside the stone house.
Amy tried to follow, but Zerev grabbed her by the back of the neck. "Let’s go. I’m taking you out."
"No! Let me go! I want to find my mother!" Amy struggled stubbornly.
If Amy hadn’t been Ophelia’s daughter, Zerev would never have brought her inside in the first place. Now that he knew Ophelia disliked this daughter and that he had made a blunder, how could he allow the mistake to continue? Ignoring her struggles, he carried her by the scruff of her neck and unceremoniously tossed her out of the Fuzu Tribe. He also instructed the guards stationed outside to make sure Amy never got near the tribe again.
"Stupid mother! Bad mother! I’ll never acknowledge her again!" Amy spat resentfully as she glared in the direction of the Fuzu Tribe’s gates.
