Chapter 410 -385: Duodoli’s Assassin Hero

Duodoli instantly felt like he was back in control.

He had just received the first piece of intel from that assassin.

He now had a basic understanding of the other assassins’ situation.

In a situation like this, if those assassins could still get the better of him, then he would truly deserve to die.

In fact, the appearance of these assassins had given him a brilliant idea.

He could deflect all blame by claiming that the people he had killed were assassins too.

Those people with ulterior motives had always wanted to keep Myanmar in a state of turmoil.

That was why they were constantly trying to have him killed.

But he had never let them succeed.

Once he revealed the assassins’ identities, the evidence would be irrefutable, and the vast majority of people would surely take his side.

This made him feel even more grateful toward the assassin. ‘Now this is real skill. This man is a true hero of Myanmar!’

He really ought to thank the man properly.

Hadn’t the man said he didn’t know what to do with his life besides being an assassin?

After this was all over, he could give the man a clean slate and have him come work for the military…

That would be much better than him continuing as an assassin.

Besides, compared to those traitors, this assassin was far more trustworthy.

So Duodoli thought.

He turned to his secretary and ordered, “Make sure there are no surprises at the press conference. Have our men lie in wait and let those assassins with their little plots walk right into our trap.”

“Yes, Mr. Duodoli. I know what to do,” the secretary replied, nodding quickly.

‘Who would have thought that at such a critical moment, someone would actually help Mr. Duodoli turn the tables like this.’

‘As long as Mr. Duodoli stays in power, I get to keep my job as his secretary.’

The secretary also reported, “Mr. Duodoli, our men are in position around the conference venue. They’re all hidden. The moment those assassins dare to show their faces, we can attack and make sure it’s a one-way trip for them.”

Duodoli nodded. “Excellent. This time, I’ll leave all those traitors completely stunned.”

“They want to kill me, but they don’t have what it takes. When the time is right, I’ll show them what I’m capable of.”

News that Duodoli was holding a press conference quickly spread throughout Myanmar.

Everyone was incredulous.

No one could believe he would dare to show his face, let alone hold a press conference.

Didn’t he know his reputation was in the gutter because of the massacre? Absolutely no one wanted anything to do with him.

And yet, there was no doubt Duodoli’s conference had attracted a massive amount of attention.

The reporters, in particular, flocked to the event.

They wanted to see what kind of tricks Duodoli could possibly pull.

「Soon, the day of Duodoli’s press conference arrived.」

Duodoli took special care with his appearance that day.

They all wanted him dead, but he was determined to rise from the ashes.

When this was over, he would settle the score with them, one by one.

The press conference was to be held in a square not far from the central building.

The square was open and could accommodate a great many people.

Duodoli had chosen this location specifically for that reason.

A huge crowd was expected.

He needed enough people to believe the story he was about to spin: that the people he killed were assassins, and that he was being framed by the traitors.

After all, if the other assassins were dealt with on the spot and their identities revealed, people would have to believe him.

If his enemies could send assassins once, they could do it a second time. It would make perfect sense that the people he’d massacred before were also assassins.

As the start time for the conference drew near, more and more people gathered in the square.

Duodoli soon arrived at the press conference venue as well.

Just then, his cell phone rang.

Seeing the number, he immediately answered.

It was a call from his hero, the assassin.

As soon as the call connected, the assassin’s voice came through. “Mr. Duodoli, I’ve just sent you the latest intel. It contains their operational plan and routes.”

“Also, could you arrange a safe place for me? If I just show up alongside them, I might get caught in the crossfire.”

Duodoli replied at once, “Don’t worry. My men will pick you up and bring you to me. After this is all over, I’ll give you a clean slate. You won’t have to be an assassin anymore.”

A delighted voice came from the other end of the line. “Mr. Duodoli, if that’s possible, I would be eternally grateful.”

After talking for a little while, Duodoli was surprised to find they had a great deal in common and were really hitting it off.

The man’s views on Myanmar, in particular, were almost identical to his own.

For that reason alone, Duodoli wanted to recruit him.

So, after hanging up, he immediately gave an order to his secretary. “He’ll be showing up later. Send someone to pick him up and bring him to me.”

The secretary frowned. “Mr. Duodoli, isn’t that too risky? If he has other intentions, bringing him here would be giving him the perfect opportunity, wouldn’t it?”

Duodoli shook his head, his voice firm. “He doesn’t have any ulterior motives. I’ve been talking to him. I believe that, like me, he only wants what’s best for Myanmar.”

“Besides, we hit it off. Most importantly, if he meant me harm, there would have been no need to warn me about the other assassins. With so many of them coming, they could have easily killed me if I was unprepared.”

“The fact that he warned me makes their job harder, not easier. And the most important thing is, I won’t be without my bodyguards.”

“I don’t believe he could pull anything with all those guards around. So, stop worrying about him having ulterior motives.”

Hearing this, the secretary also felt relieved.

‘That’s true. Mr. Duodoli does have bodyguards.’

“Alright, it’s about time for the press conference to start. Time for me to make my appearance,” Duodoli said with a smile. He walked out of his office and headed straight for the conference stage.

As expected, many people had gathered around.

Besides reporters, there were even more ordinary citizens, many holding signs protesting against him.

Seeing this scene, he didn’t feel angry. Instead, he was waiting for the moment he completely turned the tables, when these people would come to their senses and turn to support him.

Now that would be a truly satisfying accomplishment.

Just then, atop a nearby skyscraper, a sniper rifle was already trained on Duodoli.

This assassin was in the primary position. If he could take care of Duodoli, the others wouldn’t need to act.

But that was easier said than done.

Because Duodoli had guards around him, and crucially, the distance was too great.

Therefore, the sniper’s job was simple: shoot something. Hitting anyone would do. Hitting Duodoli would be ideal. But even a miss would create the chaos needed to give the others an opening.

The assassin watched Duodoli through his scope. Just as he was about to squeeze the trigger, he suddenly pitched forward, a bloody hole appearing between his eyebrows.

He’d been shot in the head.

“Sniper at position one on the rooftop has been eliminated.”

Hearing the report from his earpiece, Duodoli smiled. ‘These assassins have no idea,’ he thought, ‘that I already know their entire plan.’

At the same time, a figure had arrived at the central building, entering with some trepidation.

He had received a message from the alliance: go inside, make a phone call, and someone would take him to Duodoli.

The whole thing was unbelievable.

After all, this was his first mission of this kind, and someone was literally going to escort him right to his target.
