Chapter 411 -386: Killed by His Own Hero

「At the press conference.」

Duodoli picked up the microphone and addressed the crowd. “Recently, there must have been many misunderstandings about me. People are saying I massacred civilians.”

“That’s all slander. The people I killed were assassins trying to destabilize Myanmar. And it’s not just them. Even now, those with ulterior motives have sent more assassins. They’re all around us, trying to kill me.”

His words caused a stir among the crowd.

Although Duodoli’s claims were far-fetched, some couldn’t help but wonder if they were true.

The public, after all, was full of people without independent thoughts, easily swayed.

And, as if on cue, the assassins seemed to cooperate with Duodoli. Hearing his words, they knew someone on their side must have been exposed, leaving them no choice but to act.

Instantly, the scene erupted in gunfire.

The assassins appeared and immediately began firing wildly at the surrounding guards.

Instantly, the crowd descended into chaos.

‘So there really are assassins!’

Seeing the assassins emerge, Duodoli retreated with a smile spreading across his face.

He didn’t really need to say much more at this press conference.

All he had to do was show his face, say what he’d said, and lure out the assassins. That would be the best proof.

Tomorrow, he could move on to the next phase of his plan and completely turn the tables.

“Report, target in Alley 2 eliminated!”

“Report, target at Position 3 eliminated.”

“Position 5 is secure.”

…

Hearing the reports coming through his earpiece, Duodoli’s lips curved into a wide smile.

‘None of these assassins will be leaving here alive.’

The assassins were panicking now too.

They knew they were exposed. Worse, the enemy seemed to know everything about their positions. Someone had betrayed them.

‘Damn it!’

They failed to notice that a few of their own had already vanished. This breakaway group was now outside the Myanmar Center Building, waiting for Duodoli’s return.

Once safely inside a building off the square, escorted by his guards, Duodoli pulled out his phone and called his secretary. “Have you picked them up?”

His secretary’s voice came back immediately. “Mr. Duodoli, we have them. I’ve put them in the multimedia conference room. You can see them as soon as you get back.”

“Good.” Duodoli hung up with a smile.

He was going to meet the hero who had helped him make this stunning comeback. As for the other assassins, he had already made the necessary arrangements. They were all as good as dead.

「Elsewhere.」

Piling was already in a conference room inside the Myanmar Center Building.

As a member of the Governor’s special forces, he had long possessed extraordinary abilities.

This mission wasn’t particularly difficult for him. After all, if a few of his fellow special soldiers acted together, they could eliminate Duodoli even if he was heavily guarded—they could take him down even if it meant sacrificing themselves.

For the Governor and the Xuanfeng Alliance, they were willing to sacrifice their lives.

But the plan required throwing Myanmar into chaos and making someone else take the blame, which was why everything had become so complicated.

Still, as long as he could get in front of Duodoli, he was confident he could kill him with a single strike.

Just as he was thinking this, someone walked in and said, “Mr. Assassin, Mr. Duodoli will see you.”

Piling recognized the man as Duodoli’s secretary.

What he hadn’t expected was that he was here to kill Duodoli, yet Duodoli actually wanted to meet him, practically delivering himself to his doorstep.

Most importantly, when he came in, Duodoli’s people acted as if they recognized him. It was bizarre.

He was certain he’d never crossed paths with any of them before.

‘It seems the Alliance made some truly incredible arrangements.’

He didn’t dwell on it. There was no need. His only job was to complete the mission.

Soon, Piling was brought before Duodoli.

‘So it really is him.’

Duodoli looked at him with what seemed to be admiration, and even a strange look in his eyes.

That look made him frown. ‘What’s going on here?’

Duodoli was beaming as he looked at Piling.

‘This is him, my hero assassin! If it weren’t for his tip-off, I’d never have been able to round up all those killers at once, and I wouldn’t have had this chance to turn everything around.’

Tomorrow, he would release the identities and supposed crimes of the captured assassins. Then, the civilians he had massacred could also be labeled as assassins.

Whether the outside world believed it didn’t matter. He now had a plausible story, and before long, the public would forget all about it.

As long as an issue wasn’t definitively proven one way or the other, but remained a “he said, she said” debate where it was impossible to distinguish right from wrong, this was always the outcome.

“Mr. Duodoli, all the assassins have been dealt with. As per your orders, we’re now letting the reporters photograph the bodies and are handing over their files.”

Another report came through his earpiece.

Hearing this, Duodoli beamed at Piling. “Thank you so much. With your help, I dealt with those assassins easily. Now, I’ll prove to you that I can make Myanmar a better place—even better than the Xuanfeng Alliance.”

“Tch!” Piling couldn’t help but scoff at his words.

The sound made Duodoli freeze, and he stared at Piling in surprise.

Piling looked awkward, realizing he had let his disdain slip and put the man on alert.

‘But could he be blamed?’

‘Doesn’t this guy have any idea what a mess Myanmar is? And he’s fantasizing about surpassing the Xuanfeng Alliance? The audacity!’

Seeing his chance was blown, he didn’t hesitate. A dagger materialized in his hand.

‘Might as well just kill this Duodoli now.’

The sight made Duodoli’s face drain of color, and his guards’ expressions changed drastically.

But to their horror, the assassin became a blur, appearing before Mr. Duodoli with impossible speed.

The dagger in his hand was already buried in Mr. Duodoli’s heart.

Duodoli couldn’t believe it was real. In the moment before death, he still hadn’t processed the man’s impossible speed.

Even more unbelievable was the fact that he was dying at the hands of his own hero.

The guards, enraged, opened fire on Piling, but he had already ducked behind the desk to take cover from the bullets.

The guards tried to advance, but a blur flashed past them. Before they could react, they felt a sharp blade slice across their necks. One by one, they collapsed, their faces pale.

The secretary was frozen in shock, unable to believe the guards he’d trusted had been killed so easily.

The secretary tried to run, but he didn’t make it two steps before a blade pierced him through the back. He fell to the ground, lifeless.

Piling impassively surveyed the scene, then took out his communicator to make his report.

「At almost the same time, in Wind Manor.」

A smile spread across Lu Feng’s face. Xiaozhi had just informed him, in real-time, that Duodoli was finished.

Xiaozhi continued, “Master, Duodoli is dead. We can now proceed with winning over the people of Myanmar.”

Lu Feng nodded. ‘Indeed, we can.’

Just then, Feisen arrived at Wind Manor, also bearing good news.

It was a double dose of good news!
