Chapter 116: Chapter 116: The Big Dogs

The stronger beasts started arriving.

Damon noticed almost immediately.

The beasts coming from the Frostveil Expanse were no longer ordinary B ranks. Their presence alone changed the battlefield, and the pressure around them was enough to make the weaker beasts move aside.

Damon smiled.

"Finally."

Freya looked at him.

"You sound happy."

"I am."

Sylphie gave a small pulse of wind from the bow in his hand.

Damon laughed.

"Don’t worry. I’m not asking you to do everything."

The arrival of the stronger beasts gave them more to think about, but it also gave Damon exactly what he had been waiting for.

Their cards.

From the beginning, he had never expected the enemy to keep throwing ordinary beasts at him forever.

He wanted them desperate.

He wanted them to believe that if they simply increased the tide enough, they could bury him.

And if that failed, they would have no choice but to reveal whatever else they had prepared.

Now they were doing exactly that.

A High B rank beast appeared in the distance.

Then another.

Then another.

The pressure across the battlefield rose.

Damon’s eyes narrowed.

"The big dogs are joining the party."

This was actually good.

The enemy had forgotten about the future.

They had bet almost everything on winning this battle.

But the Winterbourne family now knew how they operated. If Damon could force them to reveal everything here, there wouldn’t be much left for them to use later.

That had been his plan from the beginning.

And so far, it was working.

The first High B rank beast attacked.

A huge beam of ice shot across the battlefield.

Damon didn’t move.

"Shiro."

The Frost Qilin reacted instantly.

"Frost Barrier."

Ice erupted.

One wall.

Then another.

Then a third.

Boom!

The attack smashed into the first barrier and shattered it.

The second barrier cracked.

The third shook violently but remained standing.

The attack finally disappeared.

Damon didn’t even blink.

He had trusted Shiro completely.

The Qilin had already judged the strength of the attack and used exactly what was needed.

Not more.

Not less.

Damon smiled.

"Good."

Shiro looked pleased.

Damon didn’t waste the opening.

"Sylphie."

The bow appeared in his hand.

Wind immediately gathered around it.

Damon pulled the string.

The beast had barely recovered from its attack when Damon smiled.

"Let’s give it something huge to start with."

That was all the instruction Sylphie needed.

The wind around the bow suddenly became violent.

"Wind Sovereign’s Gale!"

Whoosh!

The arrow shot forward.

For a moment, there was only a thin streak of wind.

Then the battlefield exploded.

The attack expanded as it moved, turning into a massive spiral that tore through everything in its path.

The High B rank beast didn’t even have time to react.

The wind swallowed it.

Then it disappeared.

Not thrown away.

Not left wounded.

Gone.

The attack continued forward and tore through the beasts behind it.

Damon stared for a second.

"...Okay."

He looked at Sylphie.

"That was a little more than I expected."

Sylphie pulsed proudly.

Damon laughed.

"Yeah, yeah. I saw it."

The remaining beasts charged.

Shiro moved.

"Frostbound Sanctuary."

Frost spread across the battlefield.

The ground became covered in ice, but unlike before, Shiro wasn’t simply freezing everything.

He controlled the battlefield.

Some beasts slowed.

Others had their legs trapped.

Several were forced into narrow paths.

A few were completely sealed behind walls of ice.

And that was all Freya needed.

She disappeared.

Silver lightning flashed across the battlefield.

Boom!

One section of the tide vanished.

Another explosion followed.

Then another.

Freya’s nine tails spread behind her.

Silver lightning crawled across every one of them.

Damon couldn’t help but shiver.

He had seen Freya fight seriously before.

It still surprised him every time.

"Freya..."

She glanced back.

"What?"

"Nothing."

Damon looked at the battlefield.

"Just don’t scare me like that."

Her ears twitched.

Then she proudly raised her head.

Damon smiled.

She really was terrifying when she got serious.

For a brief moment, the image of Freya from her first evolution appeared in his mind.

The majestic nine tailed creature surrounded by silver lightning.

Something that didn’t look like an ordinary Spirit Elemental at all.

Something that could make people instinctively lower their heads.

And now that same presence was standing in the middle of a battlefield filled with B rank beasts.

The difference was even more obvious.

She wasn’t just powerful.

Her control had become frightening.

Freya’s lightning spread through the tide and erased an entire section.

The scouts watching from a distance couldn’t even speak.

But Sylphie wasn’t satisfied.

She had watched Freya.

She had seen what her elder sister could do.

And now she wanted more.

Damon felt the change.

"Sylphie?"

The bow vibrated in his hand.

He smiled.

"You want another one?"

The answer was immediate.

Damon laughed.

"Alright."

He pulled the string again.

This time, Sylphie’s wind didn’t gather into a single arrow.

It became a storm.

The air around Damon twisted.

The pressure rose.

Even the nearby beasts stopped for a moment.

Damon’s eyes narrowed.

"Let’s see what you’ve got."

He released.

The wind tore forward.

It didn’t simply strike the beasts.

It shredded through them.

The first row disappeared.

Then the second.

Then the third.

The attack continued forward, cutting a massive line through the beast tide.

Another High B rank beast rushed into its path.

It didn’t even slow the attack.

The wind swallowed it.

Pieces of ice and flesh were thrown into the air before being carried away by the storm.

Then silence.

A massive section of the tide was simply gone.

Damon stood there holding the bow.

His eyes widened slightly.

He looked at Sylphie.

"That one."

Sylphie pulsed excitedly.

"That one is staying."

He memorized the Art immediately.

Not only had it killed a High B rank beast in one strike, but it had continued through everything behind it.

There wasn’t even enough left of the beast to recover its core properly.

Damon whistled.

"That’s ridiculous."

But Sylphie didn’t care.

She just wanted to use it again.
