Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Standing In Between the Tide

Damon looked at her.

"Whatever form you choose, I’ll be happy."

Sylphie tilted her head.

"Seriously."

Damon laughed.

"Don’t overthink it."

She looked away.

Damon understood immediately.

"You’ve been thinking about it too much, haven’t you?"

Sylphie puffed herself up.

Freya crackled beside him. Damon looked at the spear.

"Even Freya agrees."

The spear shook.

Damon smiled.

"You heard her."

Sylphie finally looked back.

She had made her decision.

Damon’s eyes brightened.

"Then let’s see it."

The beasts soon arrived.

The scouts watched carefully.

They had expected Damon to struggle.

Instead, he stood there with his two Spirit Elementals.

One was beside him.

The other was in his hand.

Then Freya suddenly jumped from Damon’s grip.

Her spear form disappeared.

Silver lightning covered her body.

In an instant, she returned to her original form.

A beautiful nine tailed fox stood beside Damon.

Her silver fur reflected the lightning around her.

Her nine tails spread behind her.

Lightning crawled across every one of them.

The scouts froze.

"That..."

Freya hadn’t fought like this for a long time.

Her eyes were bright.

She looked almost excited.

Damon laughed.

"Feels nostalgic?"

Freya gave a sharp cry.

Then she stepped forward.

Her nine tails spread wider.

Silver lightning exploded from her body.

BOOM!

The entire battlefield lit up.

Lightning spread across the ground.

It didn’t move randomly.

It formed a massive area around Damon.

A domain of silver lightning.

The beasts entering it suddenly slowed.

Their bodies trembled.

The scouts stared.

"What is that?"

Damon remained in the center.

Completely untouched.

He looked at Freya.

"Go ahead."

Freya’s eyes flashed.

She used her Art.

"Silver Lightning Domain."

CRACK!

The lightning exploded.

Every beast inside the domain was struck at once.

D rank beasts died instantly.

C rank beasts barely had time to react.

Even the B rank beasts were caught.

Lightning tore through their bodies.

One collapsed.

Then another.

Then dozens.

The battlefield that had been filled with beasts only moments ago suddenly became silent.

Bodies fell across the frozen ground.

Some beasts didn’t even understand what had happened.

The scouts stood frozen.

Their confident expressions disappeared.

One of them slowly lowered his weapon.

"This Art..."

He couldn’t finish.

It had wiped out the entire area around Damon.

And Damon hadn’t even moved.

He simply stood there.

Watching.

Waiting.

Freya stood beside him, her nine tails still covered in silver lightning.

Damon looked toward the endless tide ahead.

Then he smiled.

"Sylphie."

A gust of wind passed beside him.

"Your turn will come soon."

Sylphie nodded.

Her body began glowing.

Damon stepped back.

He trusted her completely.

The Wind Sovereign Roc disappeared into his second core.

Now it was time.

The battle continued.

But this time, Damon wasn’t fighting.

He sat quietly in the middle of the battlefield.

Freya stood in front of him.

And Sylphie had already returned to his second core.

Damon closed his eyes.

The scouts watching from a distance almost thought they were seeing things.

"Is he..."

"He’s cultivating."

The scout beside him stared.

"Right now?"

The tide had just become larger.

More beasts were entering the battlefield.

The resonance formations were pulling everything toward Damon.

And he had chosen this moment to sit down.

The scout felt his eye twitch.

"He’s insane."

Another scout shook his head.

"No."

He looked at Freya.

"He’s confident."

That was what frightened them.

Damon wasn’t ignoring the danger.

He simply didn’t consider it enough of a threat to stop his cultivation.

Damon’s Aether Core slowly recovered.

He had been fighting continuously for a long time.

Even with his efficient use of Aether, he needed to replenish his reserves before the real battle began.

At the same time, his second core continued nurturing Sylphie.

The connection between them was stronger than ever.

He could feel the changes happening inside.

Her Aether was becoming denser.

Her form was taking shape.

Something was being born.

Damon smiled.

"Take your time."

He continued cultivating.

"I’ll handle this side."

A loud explosion answered him.

Damon opened one eye.

Freya was still fighting.

"Looks like she heard that."

Freya stood alone between Damon and the tide.

Her nine tails spread behind her.

Silver lightning covered her body.

The beasts came from every direction.

Freya didn’t retreat.

She raised her head.

Lightning flashed across her eyes.

Then she vanished.

BOOM!

A streak of silver crossed the battlefield.

A B rank beast fell.

Another beast attacked from the side.

Freya twisted in midair.

"Thunder Fang."

CRACK!

Lightning shaped itself around her jaws.

She bit into the beast’s neck.

The attack exploded.

The beast collapsed.

Three more charged at her.

Freya’s nine tails spread.

"Ninefold Lightning."

Nine streams of silver lightning shot outward.

Each one struck a different beast.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

The battlefield lit up.

The beasts died one after another.

But more immediately replaced them.

The tide kept moving.

Freya narrowed her eyes.

Fine.

If they wanted more...

She would give them more.

Her lightning expanded.

The area covered by her attacks became larger.

Instead of chasing the beasts, she brought the battlefield into her range.

Every time the tide advanced, another lightning art met it.

She was holding them back.

Not stopping them completely.

But making sure they didn’t reach Damon.

Then Freya split.

Nine afterimages appeared around the battlefield.

Each one looked almost identical to her.

They spread out.

One went left.

Another right.

Two moved behind Damon.

The others took positions farther ahead.

The scouts immediately noticed.

"What is that?"

"Her afterimages?"

"They’re fighting too!"

The nine Freyas attacked at the same time.

Lightning exploded across the battlefield.

Damon felt the Aether being consumed.

His expression became serious.

"Don’t use too much."

Freya glanced back.

Damon shook his head.

"We don’t know how long this will last."

She understood.

The current B ranks weren’t a problem.

Numbers were.

The tide was still growing.

Freya couldn’t afford to empty herself too early.

So she adjusted.

The afterimages became more selective.

They didn’t waste attacks.

Each one only struck when necessary.
