I Can Evolve Spirit Elementals
Chapter 108: Together Again
Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Together Again
Sylphie didn’t celebrate.
She looked toward the direction the beasts were heading.
Then she felt through her connection with Damon.
Her expression changed.
They weren’t retreating.
They were gathering somewhere else.
And that somewhere was Damon.
Cornelius noticed the same thing.
He looked across the battlefield.
"Their target changed."
One of the elders looked at him.
"What do you mean?"
Cornelius pointed toward the distant tide.
"They’ve stopped attacking us."
His expression became serious.
"Look at where they’re going."
The elder followed his gaze.
His face slowly changed.
"Damon..."
Cornelius nodded.
"They’ve given up on the mansion for now."
He could already feel the change in the Ice Aether.
The resonance formations were pulling the beasts in one direction.
Toward Damon.
"They’re putting everything into killing him."
Sylphie immediately contacted Damon through their bond.
"Damon."
Her voice carried worry.
Damon was now aware.
He stood in the middle of the battlefield, Freya in his hand.
The number of beasts around him had increased.
And it was still growing.
Damon looked around.
"So they finally stopped holding back."
Another group of B rank beasts charged.
Damon raised Freya.
"Lightning Break."
BOOM!
Silver lightning tore through the front of the group.
Several beasts were killed instantly.
Damon stepped through the opening.
His eyes remained calm.
"They’re going all in now."
Sylphie sent another worried feeling through their connection.
Damon laughed.
"Don’t worry."
He blocked a claw with Freya.
Clang!
"Actually..."
He pushed the beast away.
"This is better."
Damon had already realized something.
As long as the others stayed here, he would have to keep watching them.
The beasts were attacking from every direction now.
Protecting the young geniuses and elders while fighting would only slow him down.
He turned toward the people behind him.
"Leave."
They looked at him.
"What?"
"Take Caelia and the injured ones and get back to the mansion."
An elder shook his head.
"We can’t leave you alone."
Damon pointed toward the approaching beasts.
"You’ll only make me slower."
The elder fell silent.
Damon wasn’t insulting them.
He was simply stating the truth.
He couldn’t fight at his full strength while constantly worrying about attacks reaching them.
Another group of beasts charged.
Damon turned toward them.
"Go."
The young elemental users exchanged glances.
They understood.
They had already seen how he fought.
If they stayed, they would become something Damon had to protect.
One of the elders nodded.
"Let’s move."
They quickly gathered Caelia.
She was still unconscious.
A few other injured elemental users were carried along with her.
They had been resting earlier, so they still had enough strength to move.
Damon turned back toward the tide.
"Good."
He raised Freya.
"Now get out of here."
He threw the spear.
Freya shot through the air like a bolt of silver lightning.
BOOM!
An explosion erupted in the middle of the beasts.
Another.
Then another.
The formation of beasts broke apart.
"Now!"
The elemental users ran.
Damon recalled the spear.
It flew back into his hand.
A B rank beast tried to cut off the escaping group.
Damon didn’t even turn fully.
"Lightning Lance."
SHK!
A spear of lightning pierced through its body.
The beast collapsed.
The group disappeared into the distance.
Damon watched until they were far enough away.
Then he looked around.
There was no one left.
Just him.
Freya.
And the tide.
Damon smiled.
"Much better."
The scouts watching from a distance noticed it immediately.
"He let them leave."
"He knew."
Another scout looked confused.
"Knew what?"
"The whole plan."
The scout’s expression was serious.
"He understood what we were doing."
The others went quiet.
Damon stood alone in the center of the battlefield.
There were beasts everywhere.
Yet his expression had changed.
The relaxed smile was gone.
His eyes were calm.
Focused.
Serious.
One scout swallowed as he watched Damon.
"This won’t be easy."
No one answered him.
They already knew.
At the mansion, Sylphie suddenly stopped.
She looked toward Damon.
Then toward Cornelius.
Cornelius understood.
"You should go."
Sylphie looked at him.
He smiled slightly.
"Your master needs you more than we do now."
Sylphie didn’t wait.
Her wings spread.
WHOOSH!
She disappeared.
Cornelius’s eyes widened.
The speed was incredible.
There was almost no trace left behind.
"That fast..."
He looked toward the direction she had gone.
Then he smiled.
Damon felt Sylphie approaching.
At the same time, something inside his pocket began moving.
Pulse.
Pulse.
Pulse.
Damon reached inside.
The Frost Seed was glowing.
Its pulses were stronger than before.
Damon stared at it.
"You want to fight too?"
Pulse.
He laughed.
"Of course you do."
The Frost Seed had been saturated for a while.
It had refused more Ice essence.
Damon had already known that it needed something else.
Battle.
Pressure.
A chance to break through.
And now the entire Frostveil Expanse was giving it exactly that.
Damon placed his hand over the pocket.
"Not yet."
The Frost Seed pulsed again.
"I know."
Damon smiled.
"You’ll get your chance."
He could feel it.
It wasn’t ready yet.
But it was close. Very close.
Then a familiar presence arrived.
Damon looked up.
Sylphie descended from the sky.
She landed beside him.
Her breathing was steady despite the battle she had just fought.
Damon smiled.
"Welcome back."
Sylphie looked at the tide.
Then at Damon.
She seemed determined.
Damon reached into his storage space.
He took out a Wind Fruit.
"Here."
Sylphie’s eyes immediately brightened.
She took it.
The Wind Aether inside it quickly spread through her body.
Her aura became stronger.
Damon watched her carefully.
"You were already close before."
Sylphie nodded.
"But now..."
He could feel it.
She was even closer.
Sylphie looked at him.
Then she sent one clear thought through their bond.
Trust me.
Damon smiled.
"I do."
The tide was getting closer.
The ground shook with every step.
Damon looked at her.
"Whatever form you choose, I’ll be happy."
Sylphie tilted her head.
"Seriously."
Damon laughed.
"Don’t overthink it."
She looked away.
Damon understood immediately.
"You’ve been thinking about it too much, haven’t you?"
Sylphie puffed herself up.
