Chapter 107: Chapter 107: A Little More Fun II

Let’s try that one again."

Silver lightning began gathering around him.

The beasts came closer.

Closer.

Damon waited.

Then he thrust the spear into the ground.

"Thunderfield."

CRACK!

Lightning exploded across the ground.

The entire area became covered in silver currents.

The beasts were caught immediately.

Their movements slowed.

Some tried to leap away.

Damon raised his spear.

"Stay."

The lightning surged.

BOOM!

The beasts were blasted into the air.

Damon didn’t wait for them to fall.

He jumped.

The spear gathered even more silver lightning in his hands.

"Piercing Storm!"

SHK!

He pierced through the first beast.

The momentum carried him toward the second.

He twisted.

Another thrust.

The second fell.

He landed.

A third beast rushed toward him.

Damon turned.

Freya blocked its claws.

Clang!

Damon smiled.

"You really picked the wrong guy."

He kicked the beast away.

Then he vanished.

A flash of silver crossed the battlefield.

"Lightning Break."

BOOM!

The beast was destroyed.

Damon landed several meters away.

He looked at the empty space in front of him.

Then at the countless beasts still coming.

He sighed.

"Okay."

He raised Freya again.

"I take it back."

His smile returned.

"This is actually pretty fun."

The scouts watching from a distance were beginning to lose their composure.

The reports had been clear.

The Wind Sovereign Roc was clearing the C rank beasts far faster than expected.

At first, they had assumed the spirit had simply been holding back during the previous battle.

Now they were so sure.

Its speed.

Its control.

The range of its wind arts.

Everything about it was causing problems.

And then there was Damon.

One scout lowered his communication device.

"He’s still fighting."

The scout beside him looked pale.

"How many B ranks has he killed?"

"I stopped counting."

"That isn’t possible."

"I watched it happen."

The scout swallowed.

"He isn’t being pushed back."

That was the part that worried them most.

Damon wasn’t desperately trying to survive.

He wasn’t retreating.

He wasn’t even fighting like someone who had been caught in a trap.

He was pushing the tide backward.

Every few minutes, the line of beasts moved farther away from the mansion.

The plan had been to overwhelm him.

Instead, he was slowly overwhelming them.

Another report came in.

"More B rank beasts have entered his area."

The scout looked toward the battlefield.

Damon was already fighting them.

"He’s handling them."

The scout’s voice became quieter.

"They’re not enough."

The enemy leader listened to the reports in silence.

Another scout arrived.

"Sir."

The leader looked at him.

"Speak."

"The Wind Spirit has completely changed the situation at the mansion."

The scout took a breath.

"The Winterbourne defenses aren’t collapsing. The C rank beasts are being killed too quickly."

"And Damon?"

The scout hesitated.

"Still fighting."

"How is he doing?"

"He’s pushing them back."

The leader’s expression darkened.

"How many B ranks have reached him?"

"Enough to kill most Master rank elemental users."

"And?"

"He keeps killing them."

Silence.

The leader rubbed his forehead.

This was not how things were supposed to go.

They had separated Caelia.

They had drawn away her strongest group.

They had created the perfect battlefield for Damon to be overwhelmed.

Yet Damon was standing there alone.

And he wasn’t even under pressure.

The leader’s eyes narrowed.

"That Wind Spirit has caused more trouble than expected."

One scout nodded.

"The mansion won’t fall anytime soon."

The leader looked toward the battlefield again.

"And Damon is becoming more troublesome every minute."

Another report arrived.

"Damon has killed another group of B ranks."

The leader’s expression finally changed.

Enough.

There was no reason to keep following the original plan.

They had wanted to exhaust him.

They had wanted to force him into a desperate battle.

But if they kept sending beasts in small groups, Damon would simply continue killing them.

The leader stood.

"Change the formation."

The scouts immediately looked at him.

"Sir?"

"Increase the resonance formations."

The leader’s voice became cold.

"Forget the mansion for now."

One of the scouts hesitated.

"But Lady Caelia and the others..."

"They are already separated."

The leader looked toward the distant battlefield.

"That part of the plan has succeeded."

His gaze settled on Damon.

"Now we kill him."

The scouts straightened.

"Understood."

"Send every beast we can control toward his location."

The leader paused.

"Every one."

The scouts stared at him.

"Even the ones near the mansion?"

"Yes."

"The entire Frostveil Expanse?"

The leader’s eyes narrowed.

"Send them."

He pointed toward Damon’s battlefield.

"If Damon remains alive, he will continue interfering with everything we do."

His voice hardened.

"So stop trying to break him."

"Overwhelm him."

The scouts immediately turned.

Orders spread through the enemy forces.

Resonance formations began activating across the Frostveil Expanse.

One after another.

Then another. All leading to where Damon currently fought.

The Ice Aether in the surrounding region began to surge.

Far away, beasts that had been moving toward the Winterbourne mansion suddenly changed direction.

Their roars echoed across the frozen land.

More beasts began moving.

Then more.

The tide around Damon had already been enormous.

Now it was about to become something else entirely.

Damon didn’t know it yet.

But the battle he had been enjoying was about to get much bigger.

Meanwhile, Sylphie continued her assault.

She dove through another group of C rank beasts.

"Wind Cutter!"

SHING!

Several beasts were cut apart before they could even react.

Sylphie pulled up and looked down.

Something felt different.

The beasts were no longer moving toward the mansion.

They were turning.

One group changed direction.

Then another.

Soon, almost every beast that had been coming toward the Winterbourne mansion was moving away.

The elemental users noticed it too.

"They’re retreating?"

"We did it!"

"The tide is turning!"

Some of them couldn’t help but cheer.

After fighting for so long, seeing the pressure disappear was a huge relief.

But Sylphie didn’t celebrate.

She looked toward the direction the beasts were heading.

Her expression changed.

They weren’t retreating.

Instead, they were gathering somewhere else.

And that somewhere was Damon.
