I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents
Chapter 489: The Wold Of Eight Disasters II
"I knew taking a treasure was never going to be easy, but seriously?" Lian said without taking his eyes away from the opened golden eye.
The other seven eyes were still closed.
The Wolf of Eight Disasters was still lying on the floor of the hall, but simply opening that one eye was enough to make the pressure in the area several times stronger.
Dust was rising through the cracks in the stone and the black chains around its huge body were shaking with a quiet sound.
Even so, it was still imprisoned.
Chains as thick as tree trunks passed through its neck, chest, legs, and spine, keeping that fifteen-meter body inside a certain area.
Which meant that until it was fully awake, he had a few seconds.
And for someone like him, a few seconds was not a short amount of time.
He opened his own panel.
[Name: Lian Vorhelm.]
[Level: 24.]
[Strength: 1800.]
[Spirit: 1100.]
[Speed: 1200.]
[Mana: 1644.]
[Resistance: 1200.]
[Stats Points: 4709.]
Lian kept his eyes on the last number for a moment.
Four thousand seven hundred and nine points.
And a level forty monster was standing in front of him.
Not just a Fallen monster, but something that also had Unholy written in parentheses in front of it, he had some guesses about why it was like this but he was not sure.
His best guess was that this creature had once been a true Unholy, but it was no longer like that and it could have something to do with that crown.
Whatever the case, he had no interest in taking a risk.
Lian made his choices.
[Strength: 1800 → 3000.]
[Spirit: 1100 → 1900.]
[Speed: 1200 → 2400.]
[Mana: 1644 → 2353.]
[Resistance: 1200 → 2000.]
[4709 stats points consumed.]
[Free stats points remaining: 0.]
[Total Stats: 11,653.]
A strong heat spread from the center of his body.
For a few moments, all of his muscles tightened. His bones became heavier, his heartbeat became stronger and the flow of mana moved through the inner paths of his body several times faster.
But the thing he immediately felt was speed.
Doubling his base speed was not something that could be ignored.
Even the simple movement of his fingers had become lighter and the information his eyes received seemed to reach his brain with less delay.
And more interestingly, his total stats had gone above 10,000, he had guessed that his limit was not 10,000 and now he was sure.
Although he was not that surprised, even though he had monster-like stats for someone who had not even reached the second evolution yet, compared to the later evolutions, it was like a joke.
Someone who had passed the third evolution had a stat limit of 300,000 stats, compared to such power, he was like a joke.
The wolf’s golden eye narrowed and Lian noticed it.
The creature in front of him did not speak, but this small reaction was enough.
Even that monster had understood that the human standing in front of it a few seconds ago was no longer exactly the same human.
"Much better now."
He opened and closed his right fist.
At the same moment ....Boom!
The black network under the hall lit up and the first eye of the Wolf of Eight Disasters flashed for a moment.
A System notification appeared.
[Eight Disasters]
[Each eye carries one independent disaster transformation.]
[Active Disaster: 1/8.]
[First Disaster — Feast of the Dead.]
A strange sound came from under the floor, something similar to liquid flowing through thousands of pipes.
The young Vorhelm looked down.
[True Sequence]
The hidden paths under the stone became visible one after another.
Hundreds of strands.
Thousands of branches.
Some of them were kilometers away from this hall and at the end of many of them, there were corpses.
Huge piles of dead bodies had been stored in rooms, wells, and underground tunnels.
Humans.
Wolves.
Monsters.
Some were fresh and some were so old that only bones remained, but even those were not useless.
The black network passed through them and the remaining mana, blood, bone marrow, broken cores and anything else that could be used were extracted.
And all the paths ended in this hall and the black veins coming out of the wolf’s spine lit up.
The energy entered its body like a river flowing in reverse and the chain around the creature’s right leg moved.
Crack!
A thin crack appeared on the huge ring.
"So you were not collecting them for food." Lian stayed silent for a moment and then understood, all these were the corpses that the subordinates of this monster had collected for it.
The golden eye remained on him and the flow of energy became stronger.
"You were eating your prison with them." He kept his eyes on the cracked chain.
[Energy stored for complete freedom is insufficient.]
[Containment System Erosion: 43%.]
Forty-three percent was not enough to completely free that creature but it was completely enough for what happened next.
The wolf’s huge muscles tightened and one of its front claws slowly lifted from the ground and the chains were pulled.
Kaaaaang!
The floor of the hall broke under its claw.
Lian still did not move.
The wolf raised its head slightly and at that moment the second eye opened and a red pupil shone in the darkness.
[Second Disaster activated.]
[Blood Hunt Moon.]
The hall became red for a moment.
A black-red circle formed above the monster’s head, not a real moon, but a ring of concentrated mana that cast a blood-like light over the stones.
Then the wolf’s body changed, the muscles of its legs became longer, its rear joints changed their angle slightly, its claws became thinner and longer.
The young Vorhelm understood only one thing, speed, far too much speed, the speed of that thing was still impossible for him to understand.
The wolf disappeared from in front of his eyes!
Predator’s Instincts reacted before his eyes.
Left.
Lian raised his forearm.
Kaaaaang!
The black claw landed on the World-Devourer Bastion but the force of the impact pushed his body back more than ten meters.
His heels created two deep lines in the stone and his eyes narrowed slightly.
The wolf moved again and this time he saw its first path.
Forward.
The huge body came from the right and Lian prepared to block the attack but the monster stopped for a fraction of a second, a very small and unusual stop and then the second claw came up from below.
He only noticed the trick at the last moment and turned his body at full speed.
Sherrrk!
Three deep lines appeared across the chest plate of the armor.
If he had reacted one tenth of a second later, the attack would have landed directly in the middle of his chest.
Lian took two steps back.
The wolf prepared again and this time the same stop happened again.
"I understand." The young Vorhelm whispered.
The third movement began, the wolf jumped forward, stopped for a moment but this time when the real attack changed direction...its target was no longer there.
[Thunder Step]
Boom!
His body appeared beside the wolf’s neck.
[Glacial Reaper Claw]
A huge ice arc landed on the dark skin.
Shrrrrk!
Black blood splashed into the air and a deep wound appeared on the neck and the monster violently turned its head, its jaws closed but it was clear that it had become angry.
Lian moved back and at that exact moment two teeth passed only a few centimeters beside his face.
He barely dodged, if he had made the smallest mistake, it would have become the last mistake of his life.
That damn thing was too fast, so fast that it made no sense, how could it move this fast with that huge body?
Fortunately, his eyes could now follow its movements to some extent.
But at that moment the third eye opened.
[Third Disaster — Bone Mountain.]
The wolf made no sound, it simply slammed its front claw onto the ground.
Boooooom!
The floor of the hall cracked and the first bone pillar came out beside Lian’s foot.
Then the second.
The third ....
The tenth.
In less than three seconds, hundreds of huge bones grew from the ground, some as thick as a human body and some several meters wide.
The large hall turned into a white and black forest of bones.
At the same time, the wolf’s own body also changed, bone plates came out from its shoulders and longer ribs locked into place along its sides, the eight blades behind its skull became thicker.
Lian closed the distance and his fist, together with Thunder Calamity, struck the creature’s shoulder.
Kaaaabooooom!
Lightning spread through the entire bone armor but when the dust cleared, only a few cracks could be seen.
He slowly lowered his arm and a frown appeared on his face.
His direct attack had no effect, with this situation, he had to find its weak point.
[True Sequence]
The structure of the body in front of his mind opened, the plates were not thick but layered, they spread the impact between themselves, but there was a thin gap between every two layers.
And he saw it.
Lian opened his hand.
[Frost Dominion]
The cold did not pass through the surface of the armor but entered through the gaps, ice grew in the space between the plates.
The wolf noticed and moved its body ...but it was too late and the young Vorhelm closed his fingers.
[Thunder Calamity]
Krrrrrrrr!
Lightning entered the ice, this time it did not hit the armor from outside but was inside the structure and spread through it.
Booooom!
Three huge plates on the wolf’s shoulder exploded from the inside, pieces of bone flew through the air.
Lian moved through them and his elbow struck the same opened area.
Crack!
The wolf’s body was pushed several meters to the side for the first time, its eyes shone with even more anger as if it had realized that it was no longer facing an ordinary prey.
The fourth eye opened.
Predator’s Instincts screamed almost at the same moment.
Bad.
Lian understood even before seeing the notification.
Very bad.
[Fourth Disaster — Skyless Howl.]
The wolf raised its head and all the air in the hall was pulled toward its mouth.
Dust, pieces of bone, even the cold mist of Frost Dominion, everything was pulled toward its mouth.
He immediately activated Mountain Anchor and the armored feet locked onto the ground.
One second.
Two seconds.
Then—
Awooooooooooooooooo—!!!
The world shook.
This was no longer a howl, a huge sound wall came out of the wolf’s mouth ....
