I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents
Chapter 488: Wolf Of Eight Disasters
After that, he took his eyes away from the notifications, the wolves behind him were getting closer and he did not want to waste any more time.
He passed through the gate and at that exact moment, something strange happened.
The wolf monsters stopped.
He took a few more steps but there was truly no longer any sound of claws, he turned his head and saw dozens of wolves standing right behind the entrance of the fortress.
They showed their teeth, growled, and some had even lowered their bodies and it was clear that they wanted to attack.
But none of them stepped inside, not even the Gravehowl wolves.
The young Vorhelm looked at them for a few seconds, the pressure of his Fallen Talent was not the reason for this behavior, this fear came from somewhere else.
Whatever the reason was, it was behind him, inside the fortress, whatever was inside was so terrifying to these monsters that they did not dare to enter its territory because of their fear.
He slowly turned around and looked more carefully, he was still not sure whether there was an Unholy inside or not, but whatever it was, it was definitely not weak.
The inside of the fortress was much larger than what it looked like from outside.
The ceiling of the hall was almost fifty meters high.
Eight huge pillars stretched from the floor to the ceiling and on each one, there were worn carvings of a creature with eight eyes and eight arms.
Divine of Chaos.
But something had polluted these old remains, wolf bones were hanging from the walls and skulls were placed inside the cracks of the pillars.
Some spiral symbols had been scratched by claws and in the middle of the hall, a huge circle had been carved into the floor.
Eight stone paths reached it from eight different directions.
Lian raised his head, from inside the ceiling, the lower part of the same huge crown could be seen, the distance was much smaller now.
Black strands came down from the structure of the crown, a network of dark lines had entered the stone.
He activated True Sequence and the paths became clear.
The crown, the pillars, the eight paths, the central circle and then the strands connected to them all went down, underground and toward one point.
Whatever it was, it was down there.
The Heavenly Book of Treasures reacted inside the storage space, before Lian could even take it out....Boom!
The entire hall shook.
The same pulse, but this time it was so close that it entered directly into his bones from the floor.
A few pieces of dust fell from the ceiling and then a sound came from underground.
Breathing.
The sound of long, deep and heavy breathing.
"Hــــــــــــــah..."
His hunter instincts activated immediately but what they sent him was different from the warning given by the monsters outside.
It was as if they were warning him that whatever was there, it was a great hunter.
He looked toward the end of the hall, behind two broken pillars, a huge staircase went down.
He stood there for a few seconds and then moved, in any case, he did not care and was not that worried, he had seen things that had made him somewhat numb to almost anything.
With every step he went down, the pressure became stronger, the air was also heavy and the smell of a beast could be felt from it.
The walls of the stairs were covered with black chains and on every ring, the spiral symbol of the Divine of Chaos could be seen.
The farther down he went, the thicker the chains became.
Finally, the stairs ended.
Lian entered a hall that was even larger than the upper hall and stopped there.
Something was sleeping in the darkness, at first he only saw its size.
And then [Night Eyes] made the details clearer.
Its body was almost fifteen meters long.
It was a wolf.
But if someone used only this word to describe it, almost all of the truth would be lost.
The creature’s fur had probably once been black, but now it had changed between burned gray and dead black.
Parts of the skin on its sides and chest were completely missing and something like bone armor was coming out from under the flesh.
Its ribs were far too long.
Some of them had passed through the skin and grown like curved horns along its sides.
Each of its front claws was almost the size of a human body and its black nails had sunk several centimeters into the stone even while it was sleeping.
But the head was the worst part, it had a huge and long skull, its mouth was closed, but even in that state, two rows of teeth were sticking out from between its rotten lips.
Not one row, like every other normal creature, but two rows, as if another jaw had grown inside the first jaw.
And there were eight eyes on its face, four eyes on each side and four eyes on the other side and all of them were closed.
Eight long bone blades came out from the back of its head and were placed around its skull like an uneven crown.
But unlike the crown of normal wolves, these did not look natural.
On each blade, thin lines similar to the same Divine of Chaos spirals had been carved.
Huge black chains were wrapped around the creature’s neck, legs, chest and spine.
Some had passed directly through its bones.
Several chains had even entered its flesh and come out from the other side.
It was as if someone had imprisoned this creature.
No ...
This creature had not only been sealed, they had wanted to make sure that even if it tore apart all of its flesh, it still could not escape.
Black veins came out from its spine and entered the floor of the hall.
Lian followed their path with True Sequence, this was the network!
The same thing that was connected to the black bones behind the necks of all the Gravehowl wolves ....the source of the command was here.
The System finally showed its information.
[Wolf Of Eight Disaster.]
[Rank: Fallen ( Unholy ) ]
[Level: 40.]
Lian looked at the panel for a few seconds.
Level forty.
The level difference was sixteen.
And something about this creature’s appearance said that even among Fallen monsters, it was probably not normal.
And the Unholy written in parentheses explained by itself that this creature was definitely different from every Fallen he had seen.
His eyes moved over the chains.
The symbols of the Divine of Chaos.
This was more important than the level, this wolf had not been worshiped by the followers of the Divine of Chaos, it had been imprisoned.
The civilization that had once built the Sanctuary of the Eightfold Paths had buried this thing under the city with chains that were still active after all these years.
But the civilization had been destroyed, although the prison remained and the imprisoned creature had connected all the wolves in the area to itself from inside that same prison.
Instead of escaping, it had built a territory for itself.
Then the young Vorhelm raised his head slightly, another mana strand went directly from Eightfold Fang’s body to the ceiling.
To the crown.
He took out the Celestial Book of Treasures and the pages immediately opened.
[A treasure is located nearby.]
[Final examination requires direct contact with the crown.]
He also activated the World Memory, hoping to see whether he could obtain information with the help of this artifact and the map.
World Memory could practically bring the map to life and add old and historical details to it.
In the end, part of the worn information was recovered.
[Historical structure identified.]
[Eightfold Containment System.]
[The crown is part of the containment structure.]
His eyes narrowed slightly, so the problem was clear, the treasure he had come here for was probably the same thing that was keeping this creature here.
If he took the crown... the chains might stop working.
Lian looked at the huge creature for a few seconds and then let out a short sigh.
"Of course."
And at that exact moment ...Crack!
A small sound spread through the hall and suddenly one of the chains around the creature’s neck moved.
He became completely still.
The first eye on the right side of the skull slowly opened and a thin golden pupil appeared between the black eyelids.
Directly at Lian.
Boom!
The entire black network under the hall lit up.
Hundreds of kilometers away, the bones planted inside the wolves’ necks responded at the same time.
A notification appeared in front of Lian.
[Pack Network activated.]
[Awakening of Wolf of Eight Disaster has begun.]
The other seven eyes were still closed but even that one eye was enough to make the pressure inside the hall several times stronger.
The young Vorhelm did not take his eyes away from the golden eye and the corner of his lips slowly rose.
"I knew taking a treasure was never going to be easy, but come on, seriously?"
