I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 173: Taking Blessings for Granted
Chapter 173: Chapter 173: Taking Blessings for Granted
"Right now, I’m more desperate to remarry Evelyn than anyone, but it has to be done one step at a time, right?"
Julian Sterling wished Evelyn would agree right away, but that just wasn’t realistic.
Besides, his mother didn’t know, but he knew perfectly well.
Evelyn’s relationship with Ryan Sterling had just ended. It was impossible for her to let go completely in an instant.
’She needs some time to pull herself out of... her relationship with Ryan Sterling. Only then can she accept a new one.’
"I know, I have it all figured out! Don’t worry."
"Don’t worry? It’s because I trusted you too much before that this whole mess happened between you and Eve, and I didn’t even know! I really don’t want to talk to you about this. Once you two remarry and your relationship is stable, I’m definitely going to give you a piece of my mind!"
He’d had a good life, but he just had to throw it all away and drag the family into chaos for Jane Jacobs.
"Fine. As long as I can remarry her, you can scold me however you want. I’ll take it."
"You just didn’t appreciate what you had."
Julian Sterling couldn’t argue with that.
He really shouldn’t have hurt Evelyn, personally destroying the happy home he once had.
"Yes. I’ll never do it again."
After hanging up, Julian lowered his gaze in thought for a moment before calling his secretary in.
"Alex Grant’s school... they accept donations, right?"
The secretary nodded. "Of course! What school wouldn’t jump at the chance if a company was willing to donate?"
After all, things like expanding academic buildings or strengthening the faculty all cost money.
A school’s tuition fees alone don’t amount to much. And they can’t expect much from government funding year after year, either.
"Contact Alex Grant’s school. I’ll be the one to fund them." Julian’s fingertips tapped lightly on the desktop, rapping out a steady rhythm. "And keep this quiet. We’ll announce it when I decide the time is right."
"Understood," the secretary replied immediately. ℯ
"Get it done. And have all the best teachers in the school assigned to Alex Grant. I want to ensure his academic performance improves, so his mother and sister don’t have to worry about him."
’If Evelyn’s in a bad mood, it’ll affect my chances of getting her to remarry me.’
...
Evelyn Grant had spent a sleepless night at the hotel.
Not wanting to fall behind at the firm, she didn’t even stop to consider her physical condition before getting ready for work.
All the recent personal drama had already caused her to fall behind on a lot of work, creating trouble for Mr. Shaw.
She just couldn’t bring herself to ask for another day off.
By the time she reached the law firm, Evelyn was already feeling faint.
She moved slowly, her steps light and listless.
"Ms. Grant, what’s the matter?"
Mr. Shaw spotted her and immediately walked over.
"It’s nothing."
"Nothing? Look at you, you’re pale as a ghost! If you’re not feeling well, just go home and rest. I’ll have someone else handle your work."
Evelyn quickly waved him off. "I’m really fine. I probably just got up too early. I’ll be okay in a bit."
"Don’t push yourself. The work can wait."
"Thank you for your concern, Mr. Shaw. Please, go on with your work. If I really can’t handle it, I’ll ask you for time off."
Seeing her insistence, Mr. Shaw could only nod.
Then, he turned and sent a message to his boss.
[Mr. Sterling, Ms. Grant looks terrible, but she refuses to leave the firm. What should I do?]
