I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 172: Partiality, a Fatal Flaw
Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Partiality, a Fatal Flaw
Julian Sterling finished his cigarette and stubbed it out.
He watched the last wisp of smoke curl up from the ashtray and vanish into the air, and a smile crept onto his lips.
’Oh, Ryan... Being too emotional isn’t necessarily a good thing.’
He looked down and dialed his mother, Florence Morgan.
"Mom, are you and Dad planning on leaving the country anytime soon?"
"How could we dare to leave now? Your father and I can only rest easy once you and Eve get remarried! Otherwise, even if we left, we’d still be worried sick." Florence Morgan sighed. "Even though it’s pretty much impossible between your brother and Eve now... that doesn’t necessarily mean Eve will agree to remarry you!"
"Getting remarried will take some time, I admit. After all... Evelyn Grant is genuinely furious this time. But it’s going to happen, we will get remarried! Mom, I might need your help with something."
Florence Morgan paused. "Julian, it’s not that I don’t want to help you! It’s just... I have your brother to consider! If I interfere too much, he’ll be upset. Ryan already gave me a warning about it."
Right now, the most powerful and influential person in the Sterling family wasn’t Julian Sterling, but Ryan Sterling!
And Florence, as their mother, was not about to offend him.
Who knew when she might need a favor from her younger son in the future? A mother and son could bicker over other things. They could argue, she could even scold him, but—
it could never be over "favoritism."
Florence Morgan knew all too well that other minor squabbles would blow over quickly. The family could even sit down for a meal together and smooth things over.
But favoritism... that was a fatal wound.
Once that accusation was made, it was indelible.
Her son would hold it against her for the rest of his life!
Florence Morgan didn’t want that, so she had to weigh her options carefully.
"Relax! After this is all over, Ryan won’t be staying in the country much longer. He might even leave soon! Once he’s gone, he won’t know a thing about what happens here. You know how busy he is with work."
"He’ll actually leave?"
"He knows it’s hopeless with Evelyn Grant. If he doesn’t leave, what’s the point of him staying?"
’The child he wanted is gone, and he’s lost Evelyn Grant. What reason does Ryan Sterling have to stay here?’
"I’m afraid you’re getting ahead of yourself. I’ve spoken with Ryan about Eve, and he’s truly, deeply in love with her! I doubt he would leave even if she rejects him."
"Mom, why do you suppose he’s abroad right now?"
Florence Morgan was taken aback. "Didn’t he say he was just handling some work over there and would be back soon?"
"So, you see? He’s there because work absolutely demands it," Julian Sterling said with a small smile. "No matter how much Ryan loves Evelyn Grant, he’s still human. He’ll weigh his options. If he has half a brain, he knows he can’t lose his career after already losing his love."
’No one’s a fool.’
In any case, Julian Sterling was completely confident that Ryan Sterling would be leaving the country.
Since her eldest son had put it that way, Florence Morgan could only choose to believe him for the time being.
"Alright, fine. I’ll help you as soon as Ryan leaves. As for you, you need to figure out a way to remarry Eve as soon as possible, and don’t stir up any more trouble! Your father and I... our health just can’t take it."
’Florence Morgan was caught in the middle, and it was the most difficult position to be in!’
Especially after Ryan Sterling had already accused her of favoritism.
She had to tread carefully now.
