I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 749: A Little Famous
Chapter 749: Chapter 399: A Little Famous
“These guys are incredibly strong. They’re instantly killing Bag Race pirates of the same level!” someone exclaimed, amazed at the strength of the Starry Sky Guard Team. “As expected of the Nian Race, a second-rate race!”
“But I heard the Nian Race only became a second-rate race by being lapdogs for the Witch Race. They shouldn’t be that strong on their own.”
Ryo shook his head. “It’s hard to say if they’re really from the Nian Race. But they did save our lives. It wasn’t until I met them that I started to believe… there really are good people in the universe!”
…
The “good person” Ryo mentioned, Su Ze, was currently contemplating the slave trade.
‘I wonder how much these Moon Gods will sell for?’
He casually tossed the newly captured Bag Race Moon God into a cell. In the dozen or so surrounding cells, each one held a Moon God from a Weak Race. Most of them were also Bag Race Moon Gods.
There was nothing to be done about it. The Bag Race’s population was simply enormous, and they all seemed to love life as Star Pirates.
Out of every ten pirate crews they took down, at least five were from the Bag Race.
As a result, the members of the Starry Sky Guard Team already had a high degree of completeness for their Bag Race Origin Gene.
So, for the Moon Gods who had little of value to plunder, a cash-strapped Su Ze decided to imprison them and sell them as slaves.
Moon God-level slaves could still fetch a good price, but since they were all from Weak Races, they might not be quite as valuable.
The combat power of Moon Gods from Weak Races was generally pathetic. Even Su Ze couldn’t be bothered to parasitize them.
They were now more than halfway through their journey, and roughly six months had passed. At full speed, they were less than a month away from the Spirit Race Public Star Realm.
Along the way, they had “dished out justice” everywhere, taking down countless pirate crews.
Ryo and his people weren’t the first group they had saved, nor would they be the last.
Naturally, the survivors they rescued spread their name far and wide.
As a result, the Starry Sky Guard Team had started to make a name for itself.
In the hearts of the weak, the Starry Sky Guard Team were their protectors, and they therefore enjoyed an excellent reputation among the downtrodden.
On the surface, this brought a good name to the Nian Race, but in reality, it also made them many enemies and stirred up a lot of trouble.
By helping some people, they inevitably offended others.
In a universe where might makes right, the support of the weak was worthless. Besides, not everyone believed that the members of the Starry Sky Guard Team were truly from the Nian Race.
With the Starry Sky Guard Team acting so conspicuously, it was only a matter of time before they attracted trouble. Their anti-piracy operations naturally offended many, and others began to target them for their own gain.
Su Ze, however, was prepared for this. Each time he launched an anti-piracy operation, he would alter the ship’s appearance. The large words “Starry Sky Guard Team” would only appear on the hull during those times.
After the operation, the Magic Cube would revert to its original form.
Whenever they landed on a Public Planet, Su Ze and the others would no longer disguise themselves as members of the Nian Race.
All of this was to prevent being targeted.
“Our next stop is the large Public Planet, Duobao Star. We’ll lay low for a while. All anti-piracy operations are suspended for the time being,” Su Ze ordered.
Duobao Star was a large Public Planet on the same level as Mengxing and Jade Plate Star, jointly administered by several second-rate races.
It was also the last major Public Planet they would pass through before reaching the Spirit Race Public Star Realm.
Many powerful experts frequented major Public Planets like this one. Combined with the fact that the Starry Sky Guard Team had been attracting too much attention lately, Su Ze decided to lay low for a while. His main goals on Duobao Star were to fence their loot and, ideally, sell a few more Moon God slaves.
Selling too many slaves at once would attract unwanted attention, so they had to sell them off piecemeal.
For most of their journey, they had maintained this rhythm: hunting pirates on the way and then selling off a wave of goods upon arriving at a major Public Planet.
The profits from their continuous anti-piracy efforts were, naturally, quite substantial.
If he could sell all the plundered resources and slaves, and also get a good price for the Bloodline Divine Artifact, he would have more than enough money to buy a spatial artifact capable of containing a Super Star.
‘The only question is whether that Super Star is still there.’
In truth, the greatest reward from their journey wasn’t the resources and wealth they’d accumulated, but the increase in everyone’s strength!
Everyone had honed the combat methods and techniques that best suited them through battle. There were no more “rookie” Star Gods on the team.
Furthermore, thanks to all the plundering along the way, almost everyone’s Origin Gene completeness had reached the standard for their eighth evolution.
But unlike Su Ze, who had the Sands of Time to help him process Evolutionary Material, they had to do it themselves. Even with medicinal aid, it would take them at least a century.
As for their skills, most of them had also met the requirements. They had visited countless Public Planets, large and small, along their route. And even though Su Ze was short on cash, he never skimped on the money his team members needed for upgrade materials.
As a result, members like Lin Hua, Old Waller, and Tano had essentially completed all their skill upgrades.
Once they returned and consolidated their progress, with a bit more time spent on skill fusion, they might even be able to create a Tier 8 divine skill.
The only real headache was how long it took to process the Evolutionary Material. Otherwise, Zexing would soon see the birth of several new Human Race Moon Gods.
This made Su Ze’s desire for the Super Star even more desperate. Super Star Energy, combined with Chlorophyll Capsules, could drastically accelerate the processing of Evolutionary Material, allowing him to quickly create a new batch of Moon Gods for the Human Race.
Of course, Su Ze himself had also made progress. On a major Public Planet, he had bought another suitable upgrade material and upgraded his “Instant Simulation” skill to Tier 8.
‘My “Corpus Cavernosum” skill can hopefully be upgraded by absorbing the Metalization Belt. That means the only skill left to upgrade now is “Knowledge is Power”.’
