Chapter 2636: Story 2637: The Dead Beside the Living
The chamber exploded with crimson light.
Kael charged first.
His transformed sword collided with Veyr’s enormous armored fist, sending a shockwave through the ancient palace. Stone shattered beneath their feet.
Elias attacked from the side.
Lena raised both hands and unleashed a torrent of red energy.
Veyr roared as the combined attack drove him backward.
“You cannot defeat me!”
Kael tightened his grip.
“We don’t have to defeat you alone.”
Behind them, the Sleeping King opened his eyes.
“Children.”
Kael glanced back.
The King pointed toward the collapsing palace.
“Look outside.”
Kael turned.
Through the broken walls, thousands of undead stood motionless across the valley.
Then something impossible happened.
The dead began moving.
But they did not attack.
They marched toward the First Kingdom.
Beside them came the survivors of the Last March.
Living and dead.
Shoulder to shoulder.
Isabella stared in disbelief.
“They’re following us.”
Seraphine raised her staff.
“No.”
She looked toward the three siblings.
“They are following their heirs.”
A massive roar echoed across the mountains.
The undead army raised their weapons.
Then the entire valley erupted into a deafening battle cry.
Kael looked at Lena and Elias.
“We finish this.”
Elias nodded.
“Together.”
Veyr suddenly emerged from the smoke.
His body had grown larger, almost monstrous. Black armor covered his chest, while crimson veins pulsed across his entire body.
He lifted both arms.
The dead surrounding the palace suddenly turned toward him.
Veyr smiled.
“Do you really think your little army can stop me?”
He released a massive wave of Origin energy.
The ground split.
Hundreds of undead were thrown into the air.
Isabella shouted,
“Hold the line!”
The Last March formed a shield wall.
The ancient guardians moved beside them.
Mara fired bolt after bolt.
Ethan’s rifle thundered.
But Veyr kept advancing.
Kael stepped forward.
“Lena.”
She looked at him.
“Now.”
Lena raised her glowing hand.
Every undead warrior suddenly stopped.
Then their eyes turned crimson.
Elias lifted his weapon.
“Command them.”
Lena hesitated.
“What if I lose control?”
Kael looked directly into her eyes.
“Then we’ll bring you back.”
Lena closed her eyes.
The queen’s symbol appeared on her palm.
“Rise.”
The entire battlefield shook.
Millions of undead warriors stood simultaneously.
Their weapons rose toward the sky.
Then they charged.
Veyr’s expression finally changed.
Fear.
The dead crashed into his army.
Ancient warriors tore through the corrupted soldiers while the living survivors fought beside them.
Veyr screamed and launched himself toward the siblings.
Kael met him.
Their weapons collided.
Elias struck from behind.
Lena unleashed another wave of energy.
Veyr staggered.
But suddenly, his body began glowing.
The Sleeping King looked toward him.
“No...”
Kael heard him.
“What?”
The King stepped forward.
“Veyr has absorbed too much Origin blood.”
Veyr laughed.
“Now I understand!”
His body expanded.
“The blood isn’t destroying me.”
His eyes burned like twin suns.
“It is completing me.”
A massive pulse exploded outward.
Kael, Lena, and Elias were thrown apart.
The ancient kingdom began collapsing.
The First Heir stared at Veyr in horror.
“He’s becoming the new Origin.”
The Sleeping King raised his hand.
“There is only one way to stop him.”
Kael struggled to stand.
“What way?”
The King looked at his three children.
“You must unite your blood completely.”
Lena stared at Kael.
Elias stepped beside them.
Kael raised his sword.
“Then let’s do it.”
The three siblings joined hands.
Their blood began glowing as one.
Above them, Veyr transformed into something monstrous.
And across the battlefield, every living and dead warrior stopped fighting.
They all looked toward the three heirs.
The final power was awakening.
