Chapter 2635: Story 2636: The Return of the Sleeping King
The chamber fell completely silent.
Kael stared at the figure standing before the ancient throne.
The face was unmistakable.
His father.
The man they believed had died centuries ago.
Lena covered her mouth.
“Father...”
Elias stood frozen.
“No...”
The Sleeping King slowly looked at each of them.
His eyes were no longer crimson.
They were human.
Tired.
Sad.
Kael stepped forward.
“You’re alive.”
The King looked at him.
“Not in the way you think.”
Kael tightened his grip on his sword.
“Then what are you?”
The King glanced toward the First Origin’s shattered remains.
“I was its prison.”
A tremor passed through the chamber.
The Ancient King lowered his head.
“The vessel has returned.”
Veyr suddenly laughed.
“This is impossible!”
The Sleeping King turned toward him.
“You should have remained outside this kingdom.”
Veyr raised both hands.
“You don’t command me anymore!”
A massive wave of crimson energy erupted from his body.
The King simply lifted one hand.
The attack stopped.
Veyr’s eyes widened.
The energy reversed direction and slammed into him.
He crashed against the ancient wall.
Kael stared.
“You’re stronger than the First Origin.”
The King shook his head.
“No.”
He looked toward his children.
“I am what remained after it was defeated.”
Elias stepped forward.
“Why did you leave us?”
The King’s expression broke with sorrow.
“I didn’t.”
He pointed toward the symbols beneath them.
“I was separated from you.”
Kael looked down.
K-26.
K-27.
K-28.
“The bloodline experiments,” Adrian whispered.
The King nodded.
“Veyr discovered fragments of our blood and tried to recreate what the ancient kingdom had lost.”
Lena looked toward Veyr.
“You created all of this.”
Veyr struggled to stand.
“I created nothing!”
The King looked at him.
“You awakened what humanity was never meant to control.”
Veyr’s body suddenly began changing.
Black veins spread across his face.
His armor cracked.
“No!”
The First Heir stepped backward.
“It’s taking him.”
Kael turned.
“What is?”
The First Heir pointed toward Veyr.
“The Origin blood.”
Veyr screamed as crimson energy poured into him.
His body grew larger.
Bone-like armor erupted from his shoulders.
His eyes became completely red.
The King looked at Kael.
“This is the final enemy.”
Kael raised his sword.
“Then we’ll stop him.”
The King shook his head.
“Not alone.”
He placed one hand against the ground.
Three beams of red light surrounded Kael, Lena, and Elias.
Their blood began glowing together.
The First Heir watched in horror.
“You’re giving them the King’s power.”
“No,” the King replied.
“I am returning what was stolen.”
Kael felt strength surge through his body.
Lena’s red aura became brighter.
Elias’s black veins began fading.
The three siblings stood together.
Veyr roared and charged.
Kael raised his shield.
The impact shook the entire chamber.
Elias attacked from the side.
Lena unleashed a wave of crimson energy.
Veyr staggered.
But he did not fall.
He smiled.
“You think three children can defeat me?”
The King looked toward his children.
“They are not children anymore.”
Kael’s sword transformed, becoming brighter than ever.
Lena raised her hand.
Elias lifted his weapon.
Together they charged.
Behind them, the Sleeping King closed his eyes.
The ancient kingdom began collapsing.
And somewhere beyond the mountains, every undead creature suddenly stopped.
They were waiting.
Not for Veyr.
Not for the First Origin.
For the three heirs.
The final battle had begun.
And this time, the dead would fight beside the living.
