Chapter 2637: Story 2638: The Blood of Three

  • Next Chapter

The three siblings stood beneath the crimson sky, their joined hands burning with ancient light.

Kael felt his heartbeat change.

It no longer sounded like a human heart.

It sounded like a drum echoing through mountains.

Lena gasped as red energy flowed from her palm into Kael’s arm.

Elias trembled.

“I can feel everything,” he whispered.

The dead.

The living.

The ancient blood.

And something beneath the earth.

Kael closed his eyes.

A voice entered his mind.

NOT THREE.

ONE.

He opened his eyes.

“We have to finish the bond.”

Above them, Veyr had completed his transformation.

His body towered over the battlefield, covered in black armor and glowing crimson veins. Two enormous wings of bone spread from his back.

His face had almost disappeared beneath the monstrous shell.

“I AM THE ORIGIN!”

His roar shook the kingdom.

Veyr raised one hand.

Every corrupted creature in the valley charged.

Isabella shouted.

“Protect the heirs!”

The Last March surged forward.

Mara fired her crossbow.

Ethan emptied his rifle.

Ancient guardians smashed into the corrupted army.

The dead marched beside them, forming an endless wall of bone and steel.

But Veyr moved faster.

He struck the ground.

A wave of black energy exploded outward.

Warriors flew through the air.

Kael stepped forward.

The energy struck him.

Instead of throwing him back, the crimson light around his body absorbed it.

Kael stared at his sword.

The blade had changed.

Half of it was black.

The other half glowed red.

“The King’s blood,” Adrian whispered.

Seraphine looked toward the Sleeping King.

“No. Something older.”

The King remained silent.

Then Lena screamed.

A symbol appeared across her forehead.

Elias dropped to one knee as the same symbol appeared on his chest.

Kael felt it spreading across his arm.

Three symbols.

Three bloodlines.

One command.

The ground suddenly opened.

A gigantic red circle appeared beneath the kingdom.

Veyr stopped.

“What is that?”

The Sleeping King finally spoke.

“The Blood Gate.”

Veyr stepped backward.

“No...”

Seraphine’s eyes widened.

“It was never meant to be opened.”

Kael looked at his father.

“What happens if it opens?”

The King answered quietly.

“Everything connected to the First Blood returns.”

The earth began shaking.

Deep beneath the battlefield, something enormous moved.

A heartbeat echoed from below.

BOOM.

Another.

BOOM.

Then thousands of ancient voices whispered together.

THE BLOODLINE HAS CHOSEN.

Veyr screamed and launched himself toward Kael.

Kael raised his sword.

Lena stood beside him.

Elias joined them.

Their blood erupted into one enormous pillar of crimson light.

Veyr crashed into it.

For the first time, the monster cried out in pain.

“NO!”

Kael pushed forward.

“You wanted the Origin.”

Lena raised her hand.

“You wanted our blood.”

Elias lifted his weapon.

“Now face what you created.”

The pillar exploded.

Veyr was hurled across the kingdom.

His monstrous wings shattered.

His armor cracked.

He fell into the ruins.

Silence followed.

Then he slowly stood.

A strange smile appeared beneath his broken face.

“You still don’t understand.”

Kael tightened his grip.

“What?”

Veyr pointed toward the Blood Gate.

“I was never becoming the Origin.”

The ground split wider.

Something vast began rising.

“I was becoming its door.”

The siblings stared into the darkness.

And from beneath the earth, a colossal crimson eye opened.

The dead fell to their knees.

The Sleeping King whispered one word.

“Awaken.”
