Hogwarts: Bloodline Legend
Chapter 1265: The Mysterious Danger
Facing Ian’s direct inquiry.
The cheetah did not answer directly, which in fact was equivalent to a response.
Of course.
Seeing Ian continue to stare at it, the cheetah felt a bit helpless, a mysterious light flashing in its deep green eyes, yet it still did not give a direct answer.
However, it let out a low, ancient-sounding growl: “Deities? Titles are unimportant. We are ancient echoes, guardians of the rules, the dream of all spirits residing here.”
It elegantly flicked its tail, its gaze becoming sharp, and its tone carrying a warning: “Stranger traveler, you possess great power, but on this land, remember to restrain yourself. To be too dazzling will attract unnecessary attention and might even… awaken some ominous entities slumbering in the desert sea and star space.”
Ian felt a chill in his heart and hurriedly explained: “I have always acted low-key, this time merely passing through, with no intention of offending the local gods and rules.”
He recalled his actions in the market, aside from communicating with Master Caleb, he indeed did not overly reveal his power, and Ian was not one for ostentation.
After all, he was a Ravenclaw student, not a Gryffindor or Slytherin student; it is usually students from those two houses at Hogwarts who cause trouble and flaunt.
As for Ian’s assurance.
The cheetah looked somewhat uneasy.
It shook its head, its voice carrying a hint of regret: “Your existence itself is not a threat to us, and your arrival might even be somewhat inevitable.”
“We do not mind your activities here.”
The cheetah’s response was somewhat unexpected for Ian.
Ian was silent.
He heard the condescending tone of the other, which further convinced him that the entity in front of him was no ordinary magic creature, but some kind of transcendent divine spirit.
“Then why did you show yourself?” Ian probed, “Did I do something offensive?”
The cheetah slowly stood up, its silhouette appearing and disappearing in the candlelight.
“No, you are very discreet. You did not summon the undead, did not desecrate the holy land, nor did you attempt to steal the resin of the ‘Tree of Life’. You even… respected Caleb’s skill.”
Perhaps this divine spirit is related to the heritage of Caleb’s lineage.
“Did my alchemy studies disturb it?”
Ian sighed a breath of relief.
But what the cheetah said next sent a chill down his spine:
“But the ‘Divine Grace’ on you… is too bright.”
Having said this, it paused slightly, then spoke again with a shift in the tone, becoming grave, “Yes, the issue lies in the ‘blessing’ you carry.”
“Blessing?”
Ian was puzzled, then immediately thought of the blessing from the Sun God Ra.
The other indeed referred to this.
“The mark of the foreign sun!” The cheetah’s gaze seemed to penetrate Ian’s dream form, seeing the golden divine power flowing inside him, “Under this sky, it’s like a beacon in the night, too vivid, and will attract some ‘unsavory’ attention, just as we are being watched.”
“Certain entities are very sensitive to divine power.”
Its tone became vague, seemingly apprehensive of something, even subconsciously glancing up at the false starry sky in the dream, as if something was lurking there.
“Unsavory attention? What is it?” Ian urgently asked, feeling he had touched on a crucial issue, “Is it the evil gods? Or something else?”
Ian still remembered what happened to him in Ancient Egypt.
It couldn’t be happening again, right?
How could he have such bad luck!
He never thought that the “blessing of the Sun God,” which he hadn’t even had the chance to brag about at Hogwarts, would become a “danger signal” on this land.
He thought it was a symbol of power, but didn’t expect it could also be a double-edged sword—able to dispel darkness, but possibly awaken deeper darkness?
“Do you mean… some existence will be attracted by my divine grace?”
Ian queried further.
For Ian’s probing and inquiry, the cheetah did not answer immediately.
It gave Ian a deep look, a gaze complex and inscrutable, containing warning, compassion, and perhaps a hint of indescribable expectation?
After a long time.
“Not ‘attract’.” The cheetah corrected, “It’s ‘resonance’. Your divine grace shares the same origin with some ancient things. They will mistakenly think you… are a ‘key’.”
“Key? A key to what?”
The cheetah did not answer.
“Can you tell me your name?” Ian decided to find out in another way; if he could learn the other party’s identity, he could investigate after returning to reality.
“Who I am is not important.” The cheetah’s voice was distant, “You can consider me a voice of this land, an observer. What matters is, why are you here, star traveler? Your arrival has stirred ripples in the ancient spiritual web of this place. Are you a passing visitor, or a herald of change?”
“You say you’re lost, yes, you have indeed veered far from your course, the way home is fraught with thorns, the light of the stars obscured by dark clouds.”
This seemed like a display on the level of divination.
Its gaze seemed to penetrate the dream, directly confronting Ian’s essence: “You carry the scent of transformation, and the aura of danger. You have touched time’s streams you shouldn’t have, and bear some divine grace, which easily disturbs those who should not be disturbed. My warning to you has already been spoken.”
Finishing these words, it crouched again on the thick branch, its form gradually blending with the tree’s shadow, and subsequently becoming increasingly indistinct.
