Chapter 725: Chapter 696: Shadow Sword Technique

Ren Bai took a deep breath, forcing himself to stand up.

Although he was severely depleted, he wasn’t completely immobilized. Since Xu Wuyi had arrived and the battle had begun, he couldn’t just sit there and watch. He had to fight too. Even if he could only serve as a distraction, he wanted to help share some of Xu Wuyi’s burden.

But at that moment, Xu Wuyi turned his head and looked at him. Those eyes remained calm—so calm that not a single trace of emotion could be seen.

“Grandmaster Ren, please rest,” Xu Wuyi said, his voice placid. “I’ll handle this.”

Ren Bai froze for a moment, then slowly sat back down.

He watched as Xu Wuyi turned back to face the Tiger-shaped Beast King. Looking at the impending battle, a strange feeling welled up in Ren Bai’s heart. “This kid really has changed,” he thought.

The Tiger-shaped Beast King gathered enough strength and let out an earth-shattering roar. The sound pierced through the area, tearing through layers of spatial barriers to echo far into the distance.

Its massive body suddenly leaped up, lunging at Xu Wuyi. Its speed was astonishing—more than twice as fast as the Ape-shaped Beast King from earlier. It crossed the distance of over ten meters in less than the blink of an eye, arriving right in front of Xu Wuyi.

Its crimson eyes were filled with murderous intent, and its gaping maw opened to reveal densely packed fangs. Each fang was as thick as a human arm, gleaming with a cold, eerie light. A single bite would tear even a Grandmaster to shreds.

Xu Wuyi did not retreat. He simply stood his ground, raising his spear to meet the pouncing Tiger-shaped Beast King, and thrust out his first strike.

It was “Chaos” once again.

The moment the spear tip pierced the Tiger-shaped Beast King’s body, the Power of Order surged in frantically, beginning to disrupt all the Rules across its form.

But this time, the effect was not as pronounced. The Tiger-shaped Beast King’s body merely paused for a fraction of a second before quickly recovering. Its Rules were far more stable than those of the Ape-shaped Beast King, giving it much stronger resistance against the disruption of Order.

However, it still felt that bizarre chaos. That chaos made it highly uncomfortable. It caused deviations in its perception and brought about a slight stagnation in the circulation of its Qi and Blood. While it didn’t completely lose control, its overall condition was undeniably affected.

It let out a furious roar, slamming its massive claw down.

Xu Wuyi dodged sideways, sweeping his spear across and thrusting out his second strike: “Blood Breaking.”

The effect of this spear thrust was even weaker. The Tiger-shaped Beast King’s Qi and Blood circulation merely stagnated for a split second before returning to normal. Its Qi and Blood were far too powerful; that minor seal couldn’t restrict it at all.

Yet, it still sensed the threat. It knew that if this human were allowed to keep stabbing like this, it would eventually spell trouble.

It roared again. The aura around its body surged wildly, transforming into countless dark red energy tentacles that lashed out to entangle Xu Wuyi. Each tentacle was as thick as an arm and possessed terrifying corrosive properties. If ensnared, one would suffer agonizing injuries even if they managed to survive.

Xu Wuyi’s figure flickered, darting through the gaps between the tentacles. His speed wasn’t as fast as the Tiger-shaped Beast King’s, but his Body Technique was far more agile. He always found the openings to evade the tentacle attacks.

At the same time, his spear thrust out incessantly. Every strike carried a different application of Rules, and every strike attempted to destroy the Tiger-shaped Beast King’s Order.

“Chaos” threw its perception into disarray. “Blood Breaking” sealed its Qi and Blood. “Breaking Skill” locked down its Spirit.

The three styles of the Spear Technique were used in rotation. Every thrust caused the Tiger-shaped Beast King’s condition to slip by a fraction. Although each decline was minute, they began to trigger a qualitative change as they accumulated.

The Tiger-shaped Beast King started to feel fatigue. It was a sensation it hadn’t experienced in a long time since becoming a Beast King. This fatigue wasn’t physical, but occurred on the level of Rules.

Maintaining its own Rules required energy, and every time Xu Wuyi’s Spear Technique disrupted them, it had to expend extra energy to restore those damaged Rules. Over time, its energy consumption grew heavier, and its condition worsened.

It realized that this couldn’t go on.

It abruptly halted its pounce, leaping backward with its massive body to put some distance between itself and Xu Wuyi. Then, it opened its mouth and began to frantically devour the ambient dark red energy.

Like a surging tide, the energy poured madly into its body. Its form began to expand, its scales started to glow, and its aura climbed at a terrifying rate.

It intended to settle the battle in a single strike using the most violent method possible.

Xu Wuyi stood right where he was, watching the Tiger-shaped Beast King frantically devour the energy. His expression remained calm.

He knew the power of this impending strike. The Tiger-shaped Beast King was burning its own essence in exchange for a brief burst of supreme power. After this attack, regardless of victory or defeat, it would fall into a state of extreme weakness.

But right now, the sheer might of this strike was genuinely terrifying. The aura grew stronger and more violent, bearing down so heavily that the entire space began to tremble violently.

Sitting on that Energy Crystal, Ren Bai’s face turned exceptionally grave. He knew the weight of this attack; even at his peak, he wouldn’t dare take it head-on.

But Xu Wuyi did not retreat.

He took a deep breath and gripped his spear tightly.

Deep within his sea of consciousness, that pale blue Heart of Order began to spin wildly. The Power of Order surged out like a tide, flowing down his arm, along the shaft of the spear, and straight to the tip.

He was going to take this attack head-on.

He wouldn’t just endure it forcefully; instead, he would use his Order Rules to dissolve the Order of this strike. No matter how powerful the Tiger-shaped Beast King’s attack was, it was still built upon Rules. As long as those Rules were destroyed, the attack would naturally crumble.
