Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Veyra Vs. Gravehorn Reaper (part 2)

The atmosphere around her suddenly changed.

Ragnar’s expression became slightly more serious.

He felt a strange heat spreading through the dead forest.

It was completely different from the cold death energy that filled the second floor. The temperature around Veyra began rising rapidly, and the mist surrounding her slowly evaporated. Even the dead trees nearest to her started glowing faintly from the intense heat.

Veyra smiled.

"Crimson Flame Manipulation."

The tiny flame suddenly expanded.

BOOOOOOM!

A massive pillar of crimson fire erupted from Veyra’s hand and surged into the sky. The flames twisted around one another like living serpents, spreading across the dead forest without touching a single tree that Veyra did not intend to burn.

The Gravehorn Reaper stopped.

For the first time since the battle began, the undead beast hesitated.

Its instincts were screaming at it.

Danger.

The purple flame inside its chest flickered violently as it sensed the power contained within the crimson fire.

The Gravehorn Reaper roared and charged.

"ROOOOOAAAAAR!"

It gathered every ounce of death energy remaining in its body and launched itself forward.

[Gravehorn Charge]

Its enormous horns were enveloped in dark purple energy.

The ground shattered beneath its hooves.

Veyra did not move.

She simply extended her hand toward the approaching monster.

The crimson flames immediately responded.

They surged forward.

WHOOSH!

A massive wave of crimson fire collided with the Gravehorn Reaper.

For an instant, the undead beast disappeared completely inside the flames.

Its roar echoed throughout the dead forest.

"ROOOOOAAAAAAAR!"

The flames burned through its death energy.

Its black horns cracked.

The flesh covering its enormous body began to disintegrate, revealing the bones beneath.

The Gravehorn Reaper desperately activated its regeneration.

[Death Regeneration]

Dark energy poured from the ground and entered its body.

Normally, that would have been enough to restore even severe injuries.

But this time, the crimson flames continued burning.

Every wound the Gravehorn Reaper regenerated was immediately consumed by the flames again.

Its regeneration could not keep up, cracks spread across its skull.

Its massive bones began breaking apart.

The purple flame inside its chest flickered violently before gradually becoming smaller.

Veyra slowly closed her hand, and the crimson flames condensed.

Then they exploded inward.

BOOOOOOM!

The entire forest trembled.

When the flames finally disappeared, the Gravehorn Reaper was gone.

Only a pile of blackened bones remained on the scorched ground.

The purple flame that had once burned inside its chest had completely vanished.

Silence returned to the dead forest.

He looked toward the remains of the Gravehorn Reaper.

There was no reason to waste Soul Points reviving it manually.

The dungeon had its own rules.

Dungeon monsters were not permanently lost when they were defeated. After a certain period of time, the dungeon would restore its monsters after a day. Ragnar could also use Soul Points to revive them immediately, but doing so was unnecessary right now.

----

With the matter settled, Ragnar decided there was nothing more for them to do on the second floor for the moment. He opened the dungeon interface and selected the throne room as their destination.

A faint glow surrounded the two of them.

The next moment, Ragnar and Veyra disappeared from the dead forest.

When they reappeared, they were standing inside the familiar throne room on the first floor. Ragnar’s enormous four-meter-tall body immediately made the room feel smaller, his massive frame towering over the obsidian throne that stood at the center.

He walked toward it and sat down, resting his back against the throne as he looked at the system window floating before him.

For the first time since creating the second floor, Ragnar allowed himself to relax.

The second floor had its own defenses now.

With those thoughts in mind, Ragnar eventually closed the system window.

"Tomorrow will be interesting."

He stood up from the throne and looked toward Veyra.

"Let’s rest for today."

"Yes, my lord."

The two eventually returned to Ragnar’s room.

Another quiet night passed within the dungeon.

---

The following morning, Ragnar woke up feeling refreshed.

He opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling for a few seconds before slowly sitting up.

The first thing he noticed was the familiar warmth beside him.

Veyra was still sleeping soundlessly in his bed.

Her breathing was calm and peaceful, completely different from the fierce woman who had casually destroyed a Level 20 mini boss the previous day. She showed no signs of waking, apparently comfortable enough to continue sleeping despite Ragnar already being awake.

Ragnar looked at her for a moment before shaking his head.

"She really sleeps deeply."

He quietly got out of the bed.

His enormous body made the room feel rather cramped, and he had to be careful not to accidentally knock anything over. After stretching his limbs, Ragnar left the room and made his way toward the throne room.

A short while later, he arrived before the obsidian throne.

Ragnar sat down.

His massive frame settled comfortably against the throne as he looked toward the dungeon system.

Everything was quiet, for the moment.

Then the system notification appeared.

[Intruders detected.]

Ragnar’s eyes immediately lit up.

"Already?"

He leaned forward slightly.

A magical projection appeared before him, displaying the interior of the first floor.

Several adventurers had entered the dungeon.

They were not a large group, and judging from their equipment, most of them were relatively inexperienced. They moved cautiously through the first section, checking corners and watching the floor for traps.

Ragnar watched with interest.

"Please come in and give me soul points."

The adventurers slowly advanced.

They encountered the first group of monsters and immediately entered combat. Their movements were cautious, and unlike the previous large raid, they did not recklessly charge forward. They used their limited skills carefully and worked together to eliminate the monsters.

For a brief moment, Ragnar thought they might actually make decent progress.

Then they reached the maze. The situation quickly changed.

The twisting corridors separated them, and after several wrong turns, the group began moving in circles. Some adventurers triggered traps while others encountered monsters they had already fought earlier.
