Chapter 74: Veyra Vs. Gravehorn Reaper (part 1)
Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Veyra Vs. Gravehorn Reaper (part 1)
Veyra smiled.
"Very well, my lord."
The Gravehorn Reaper slowly rose from its kneeling position.
The enormous undead beast immediately sensed the change in atmosphere. Its purple flame burned brighter, and dark death energy began leaking from between its ribs. Its massive horns lowered slightly as it stared at Veyra.
Ragnar took several steps backward. He had no intention of standing between the two.
"This should be worth the watch."
Veyra walked into the open area between the dead trees.
She did not draw a weapon. She did not activate any obvious skill.
She simply stood there with her hands relaxed at her sides.
The Gravehorn Reaper stared at her. For several seconds, neither moved.
Then the undead beast suddenly released a terrifying roar.
"ROOOOOAAAAAR!"
The sound exploded through the forest.
The mist scattered violently, dead branches shook.
Several nearby skeletons were knocked backward by the force of the roar, while the weaker undead beasts immediately retreated from the area.
Dark waves of death energy spread outward from the Gravehorn Reaper.
[Reaper’s Roar]
The skill was activated.
Any ordinary living creature caught within its range would have felt overwhelming fear. Their bodies would become weaker, their minds would struggle to maintain concentration, and even experienced warriors could find themselves hesitating in the face of the terrifying death energy.
Veyra, however, merely stood there. Her hair moved slightly from the force of the roar.
The death energy washed over her body and disappeared.
Veyra blinked.
"Is that all?"
Ragnar’s mouth twitched.
"So much for testing its intimidation."
The Gravehorn Reaper seemed to understand that its roar had failed.
The purple flame inside its chest suddenly burned violently.
The muscles surrounding its legs tightened.
Then it charged.
BOOM!
The ground exploded beneath its hooves.
The massive undead beast accelerated with terrifying speed.
[Gravehorn Charge]
Death energy surged through its body.
Its enormous black horns became covered in dark purple light as it lowered its head and charged directly toward Veyra.
Ragnar’s eyes widened.
"Fast!"
Despite its enormous body, the Gravehorn Reaper moved far faster than its appearance suggested.
The distance between the two vanished in an instant.
The creature’s horns were already inches away from Veyra.
Veyra calmly raised one hand.
BOOM!
The impact shook the entire forest. Dust and dead leaves exploded into the air.
Ragnar narrowed his eyes as he watched the cloud.
For a moment, he could not see Veyra.
Then the dust slowly cleared. Veyra was still standing in the same place.
Her palm was pressed against the center of the Gravehorn Reaper’s skull.
The enormous undead beast had been stopped completely.
Its hooves dug several meters into the ground from the force of its charge, leaving deep trenches behind it.
Yet Veyra had not moved even a single step. She looked at the massive creature in front of her.
"You have considerable strength."
The Gravehorn Reaper growled. It pushed harder, and its muscles bulged.
Death energy erupted from its body. The ground beneath its hooves cracked.
But Veyra’s arm did not move, not even slightly.
Ragnar slowly grinned.
He already knew that Veyra was strong, but seeing her casually stop a Level 20 mini boss’s strongest charge with one hand was still impressive.
The difference between them was simply too great.
Veyra was Level 30.
And unlike ordinary monsters, she was Ragnar’s subordinate.
Her strength was far beyond what her level alone suggested.
A boss monster of the same level could not be compared to her.
The Gravehorn Reaper suddenly raised one enormous hoof.
It slammed it into the ground.
[Deathquake]
BOOOOOOM!
A violent shockwave spread across the forest.
The earth cracked, and several dead trees shook violently. Large pieces of stone were thrown into the air.
The shockwave traveled directly toward Veyra.
She simply jumped.
Her body rose several meters into the air, effortlessly avoiding the attack.
The shockwave passed beneath her. She landed lightly on the ground.
The Gravehorn Reaper immediately turned around.
Its massive body moved with surprising speed.
Its skull swung toward Veyra again, and its horns swept through the air like enormous blades.
Veyra tilted her head.
The horns passed beside her. She stepped forward, then she struck.
BOOM!
Her fist slammed into the side of the Gravehorn Reaper’s skull.
The enormous undead beast was sent flying.
Its massive body crashed through several dead trees before striking the ground.
CRASH!
The earth shook.
Ragnar’s eyes widened.
"That was just one punch."
The Gravehorn Reaper slowly rose. A large crack had appeared across its skull.
Dark death energy immediately gathered around the damaged area.
[Death Regeneration]
The crack began closing, bone slowly reformed.
Within seconds, the damage was almost completely repaired.
Ragnar’s eyes gleamed.
"Now that’s useful."
Veyra looked at the regenerated skull.
"So it can recover quickly."
The Gravehorn Reaper suddenly charged again.
This time, its horns were covered in an even denser layer of death energy.
Veyra waited.
The creature crossed the distance.
Just before impact, Veyra disappeared. The Gravehorn Reaper’s horns struck nothing.
Veyra had already moved.
Her figure appeared several meters to the side, standing calmly among the dead trees as if she had never been in danger. The undead beast turned its enormous skull toward her, its crimson eyes burning with murderous intent.
It had already used its strongest attacks, yet none of them had managed to injure her. Even its tremendous physical strength, which was enough to crush ordinary adventurers beneath its hooves, was completely useless against Veyra.
Ragnar watched silently from a distance.
He had already understood the difference in their strength, but the battle had made that difference even more obvious. The Gravehorn Reaper was a Level 20 mini boss, an existence that could easily become a nightmare for most adventurers entering the second floor.
Its physical strength, regeneration, and death energy made it considerably more dangerous than the ordinary monsters Ragnar had placed throughout the dungeon.
Unfortunately for the Gravehorn Reaper, its opponent was Veyra.
"You’re quite persistent," Veyra said.
The Gravehorn Reaper released another low growl.
The purple flame inside its empty rib cage suddenly surged. Death energy gathered around its body, causing the ground beneath its feet to tremble. Its enormous horns became covered in dark energy as it prepared to charge once more.
Veyra looked at it for a moment.
Then she sighed.
"I think that’s enough."
