Heavenly Dungeon: My Subordinates Are All Woman Monsters
Chapter 101: Graveveil Wardens
Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Graveveil Wardens
Ragnar continued browsing through the undead monsters displayed in the shop, but the more entries he examined, the less satisfied he became.
He did not want his graveyard to become another place filled with common undead that adventurers had encountered countless times before. If every defensive area contained familiar monsters, experienced adventurers would quickly identify their weaknesses and prepare suitable countermeasures.
Ragnar wanted something different, a creature that could make even seasoned adventurers reconsider whether they should continue exploring the second floor.
Furthermore, he had already decided on an important rule for his dungeon’s defensive areas.
Each area would contain only one type of undead monster.
The Dead Forest had its own distinct inhabitants, and the Graveyard would follow the same principle.
His glowing eyes moved across the list as he continued scrolling. Some creatures possessed impressive strength, while others specialized in ambushes, ranged attacks, or overwhelming enemies through sheer numbers. Yet none of them gave him the feeling he was looking for.
"These monsters aren’t bad, but they’re too ordinary," Ragnar muttered. "If I were an experienced adventurer, I wouldn’t be particularly surprised to encounter any of them in a graveyard. I need something with a more distinctive ability, something that can make the entire area dangerous without relying on several different monster types."
Several minutes passed as he examined one entry after another. Just as he was beginning to think that the shop had nothing suitable, a new entry appeared beneath the familiar list of undead monsters.
Ragnar’s eyes narrowed.
Unlike the previous entries, this monster’s name immediately caught his attention. Its classification was also unusual, and the description suggested that it possessed an ability he had not encountered among the other undead creatures.
He opened the entry.
[Level 30]
[Graveveil Warden]
[Race: Undead]
[Classification: Normal Monster]
[Required Soul Points: 8]
[Description: An ancient undead guardian wrapped in tattered funeral robes and weathered burial armor. Its face is hidden behind a cracked stone mask, while a long, blackened staff rests in its skeletal hands. Graveveil Wardens were once entrusted with protecting sacred burial grounds, but after death, their duty became an eternal obsession. They can manipulate the death energy lingering within a graveyard, making them exceptionally dangerous when fighting within their designated territory.]
[Skill 1: Grasp of the Buried
Description: The Warden summons skeletal hands from beneath the ground to seize the legs and bodies of its enemies. These hands can restrain multiple targets simultaneously, disrupting their formations and preventing them from easily escaping. Strong opponents can break free through sufficient physical strength or skills, but doing so leaves them vulnerable to follow-up attacks.]
[Skill 2: Funeral Bell
Description: The Warden strikes its staff against the ground, releasing a deep, spectral bell toll that spreads throughout the graveyard. Those affected experience a sudden disturbance in their senses and concentration, briefly disrupting their ability to coordinate attacks. Creatures with strong mental resistance can reduce or resist the effect.]
[Summoning Quantity: 3 Graveveil Wardens]
"Three of them for eight Soul Points," Ragnar murmured, rubbing his chin. "That’s not a bad deal."
After reviewing the monster’s abilities once more, he finally made his decision.
"All right. I’ll choose them."
Ragnar tapped the summoning option, and a confirmation window appeared before him.
[Confirm Summoning: 3 Graveveil Wardens]
[Required Soul Points: 8]
[Confirm?]
He was about to confirm the purchase when he paused and glanced at the Soul Points displayed on his status screen.
Thirty.
Ragnar’s expression changed slightly as he checked the numbers again. If he spent eight Soul Points on each purchase, he would not be able to summon as many as he had initially hoped. With thirty Soul Points, he could afford only three complete purchases of the Graveveil Wardens, leaving six Soul Points unused. That would give him nine Graveveil Wardens in total.
’Nine should be enough for now. I can always summon more after collecting additional Soul Points.’
He pressed the confirmation button.
[Summoning Successful!]
[9 Graveveil Wardens have been summoned.]
[Remaining Soul Points: 6]
Ragnar leaned back against his enormous throne, satisfied with the result. He had spent twenty-four Soul Points, but in return, he now possessed nine Level 25 elite undead whose abilities were particularly effective within a graveyard.
"Nine Graveveil Wardens," he murmured. "That should make the Graveyard considerably more troublesome for anyone who enters it."
Veyra and Kaelira stood beside Ragnar’s enormous throne, their gazes fixed on the floating screen displaying the Graveyard. The moment Ragnar finished summoning the nine Graveveil Wardens, the system began transferring the undead guardians to their designated area on the second floor.
One by one, dark figures began materializing among the gravestones.
Their tattered funeral robes swayed despite the absence of wind, and their weathered armor clattered softly as they moved. Each Graveveil Warden carried a long, blackened staff, while a cracked stone mask concealed its face. Pale death energy surrounded their bodies, giving them an eerie appearance that contrasted sharply with the silent burial grounds.
the Graveveil Wardens immediately spread throughout the area. Some stood beside ancient tombstones, while others positioned themselves near the narrow paths leading deeper into the graveyard. Their movements were slow but deliberate, as though they were carrying out a duty they had performed for centuries.
Veyra tilted her head as she observed the scene, her red eyes shining with interest.
"They look strong, my lord. Their appearance alone is enough to frighten ordinary adventurers, but their abilities are what truly make them troublesome.
Kaelira, meanwhile, continued studying the Graveveil Wardens. Evaluating their actual combat capabilities.
"These monsters will probably be able to stop an adventurer group consisting of Level 25 to Level 30 members," she said after some consideration. "Their greatest advantage is that they don’t need to defeat their enemies through direct combat. If the adventurers become trapped by Grasp of the Buried, their formation will be disrupted. Then, when the Funeral Bell affects their senses and concentration, the entire group could fall into chaos."
She paused, watching one of the Graveveil Wardens raise its staff.
"Of course, a group with powerful area-of-effect skills or someone capable of resisting their abilities might still defeat them. But if the adventurers don’t understand what they’re facing, even a team with higher-level members could suffer serious losses."
Ragnar nodded in agreement.
