Chapter 1677 - 1677: The Hypnotized Army of Empress of Xieren (2)
When the melody floated in the silent surroundings, Yu Dong knew at once that there was something wrong. There was a buzzing sound from all over the mountains, it was like a bunch of humans were chanting something.
She narrowed her eyes and sniffed the air, it smelled of blood. Yu Dong turned and glanced at the woman named Master Hualin before saying, “So you did raise an army?”
“Of course,” Master Hualin said proudly. Her expression was calm as if she had done something as exciting as chopping the neck of a chicken. “Empress Xieren is the key to uplift this nation and these foolish people cannot understand this.”
“They have been foolishly asking for her to leave the throne..and I cannot accept their foolishness to continue anymore.”
“Sooo…” Yu Dong narrowed her eyes as she more or less understood what was going on. “This Empress Xieren of yours is throwing a tantrum as she cannot win the hearts of her people. And you and your sect mates who are as morally corrupt as the Empress is unfilial, want to help her regain control through evil means.”
“And you are doing this because—if Empress Xieren continue with her reign, you will have free rein to do anything that you want, right?”
“That’s right,” Master Hualin answered as the sound of footsteps got closer and closer to her. “But what’s the point of asking this?”
“Oh nothing,” said Yu Dong as she looked at the bunch of villagers who had marched up the mountain along with the thugs who were working for Master Hualin.
They looked like zombies, except they did not have rotting flesh on their bones. Their eyes were however just as blank as the soulless zombies. This crowd of people resembled a bunch of evil puppets all of them were carrying sharp daggers and weapons in their hands.
When Yu Dong thought about how many people have eaten the meat buns made of human flesh she suddenly felt sick. This woman truly had no qualms whatsoever to get what she wanted.
“Come my dear ones come!” Master Hualin shrieked with glee as she ignored the look of disgust on Yu Dong’s face. She said to her, “You would have been at peace if only you had taken your children and left the other two behind. Being nosy doesn’t bode well for anyone.”
Yu Dong curled her lips but she didn’t say anything. She had a feeling that this woman was planning something. Given that this woman had no bottom limit, Yu Dong didn’t think that she would have only fed the Hypnotising bugs to just a few people in the town.
If that was the case then—
The children!
She glanced at the crowd of people that was heading her way and took out two tranquillizer guns from her space.
With her feet, she agilely stepped further away from the crowd while shooting tranquillizing needles at the people who were charging at her.
She turned her head to look at Master Hualin but just as she looked at the spot where the woman should have been standing, Yu Dong found that the woman was gone.
Master Hualin had disappeared when she was not paying attention.
As they fell on the ground one by one, Yu Dong turned and ran down the mountains. Behind her she heard the laughter of the woman, most probably she was watching Yu Dong escape from a dark corner of something.
On the other side of the town, Madam Kong and everyone else were hiding inside the small tea house where Yu Dong had left the children. As it had been more than an hour, Kong Pili went ahead and called her mother and the rest of the adults to the tea house before telling them what happened to them and how Yu Dong had saved them.
But who would have thought that just as they were about to go looking for Yu Dong, the entire town suddenly went quiet and —
BANG!
BANG!
“Mother, I am scared,” Kong Li buried herself in the arms of Madam Kong who was already hugging Kong Pili.
“It is alright, the people of the town are just playing a little game,” said Madam Kong while looking at the people who were marching down the streets of the town.
“All hail, her majesty!”
“Empress Xieren is the rising star of this nation.”
“Empress! Empress! Empress!”
The chants echoed loudly in the silent streets causing a great stir. Madam Kong and the rest hid in the private room with the children.
“What is this? What in the world is going on?” Guo Zian whispered as he stared at the black-eyed people roaming on the streets. They all had eyes like that of a beast, it was terrifying especially as they were attacking anyone who spoke against Empress Xieren.
Even Yu Le and Yu Jiao Yu shivered while peering out of the window.
“You all stay inside,” said Madam Kong as she pulled her husband back. “Hide in the room and don’t look at them, what if they come looking for us? It’s better if we pretend that there is no one inside this room.”
She then turned to look at Madam Hea who was sporting a scratch on her face. “How do you feel madam? Do you feel alright?”
“I am fine,” replied Madam Hea as she wiped the blood off her cheek. “I never thought that one day I would see a situation like this.”
BANG!
SCRATCH!
BANG!
The sound of nails scratching on the surface of the door, followed by the banging echoed up at the second floor causing everyone to stiffen.
“Uncle!” Yu Mai threw himself in Yu Le’s arms as he shivered. “I am scared, where is sister?” In his eyes, Yu Dong could deal with anything, certainly, she could even protect him in this situation.
However, Yu Le was not as optimistic. How could Yu Dong deal with these things? There were just so many of them.
