Chapter 1678 - 1678: Either you or us
Madam Kong along with Madam Hea and the rest scrambled to the window that was facing the front. They were simply dumbstruck when they saw the scene in front of them.
Even though Madam Kong and Madam Hea had seen a lot of things while travelling extensively throughout the nation. From battle scenes to people getting smashed under the carriages of the rich, they have seen everything.
But this was the first time they had seen something so shocking. What the hell was even wrong with these people? Why were they even acting like this? They resembled walking corpses. But they couldn’t be dead as they resembled humans and even looked like humans.
“They are trying to break the door, looks like they saw Master Guo,” muttered Madam Hea grimly as she looked at the crowd that was standing in front of her tea shop.
Guo Zian’s eyes turned red as he lowered his head and muttered, “I am sorry. I was just trying to look for a way to go back home..my children and everyone at the house are alone—I don’t know if they are fine.”
What was more, Master Xiao was with them. The kind of mer he was, who knows he might end up letting these things inside of his house.
“It is alright. I am not blaming you, I am also worried about my family,” Madam Hea waved her hand dismissively as she eyed the crowd that was attacking the door of her tea house.
Madam Kong glanced at Guo Zian who looked back at her with a nervous expression on his face. Though he didn’t say anything, Madam Kong knew that he was worried about Master Xiao causing trouble for their family.
And honestly, she had a very good idea that the mer would really make trouble at their home.
THUD.
The sound of something hitting the people climbing the door of the tea house echoed in the silent room and everyone turned to look at Yu Mai who blushed with the attention he was getting all of a sudden.
“My sister said that it’s foolish to wait when in danger. If you can, fight back,” Yu Mai told the rest as he picked up the vase in the tearoom and then threw it on the head of the woman who was trying to climb up the door of the tea house.
Madam Hea was amused by the words that Yu Mai said to her. She studied him carefully before nodding as she said to the rest, “He is correct. Since we are alone, we might as well fight back. There is no point in waiting for help when we don’t know if it will come or not.”
“We might as well fend these things off,” said Yu Le nervously but his expression was determined. “I don’t think we can defeat them but we can at least stop them from entering the tea house.”
There was a murmur of agreement as Madam Hea and Madam Kong rushed to the kitchen and the storehouse from where they brought back long poles and pans.
They were attached through a rope and then without waiting for anyone, they charged at the people who were trying to barge inside the tea house.
And at the Kong house, the situation was just as Madam Kong and Guo Zian were worried about. Master Xiao was standing in the living hall while being dragged by the three mer concubines of Madam Kong while the Second official husband, master Jing looked at him coldly,
“Let go of me, I have to go and look for my family. My parents are old and my sisters are not at home. Thanks to you all, what would happen to them!” Master Xiao screamed as he tried to struggle free from the grasp of the three mer concubines. “Stop pulling me, my mother and daddy are waiting for me to save them.”
“Don’t worry,” said Master Jing with a cold sneer on his face. “Once our wife returns home, I will let her know how you tried to open the door for the sake of rushing out. We could have been in serious trouble because of you just now.”
“If our wife has her wits intact she would send you back home indefinitely. And this time around, I will be the one forcing her! If she doesn’t divorce you, then I will divorce her and take my daughters away.”
Earlier, when these people suddenly rushed to their inn, Master Xiao did not care about the guests, the children or them. Instead, his first thought was to open the door and rush to his parents’ aide.
If Master Pei had not noticed him trying to open the lock in time, this mer had caused their entire family to die today.
Master Pei had told him that Master Xiao would have almost opened the doors if he hadn’t tackled this mer to the floor. Then he would have really thrown their family in the jaws of danger.
Master Jing dared not live with this mer anymore, what if there was another situation like this? Wouldn’t this leave them to die?
Since his heart wasn’t with them, then he might as well return to those whom he cared about.
Master Xiao was stunned when he heard Master Jing’s words. What was wrong with this mer? He was a filial son who was just worried about his parents. Was it such a big sin that he was being threatened by divorce?
“Master Jing…you! So this is your true intention, you want to make up a story and then make our wife divorce me? I am telling you that it will never happen,” Master Xiao shouted at Master Jing while struggling against the hold of the three mers. “I am just trying to protect my parents. What wrong have I done to be divorced?”
“At the cost of ours!” Master Ke kicked the mer in his shin and caused Master Xiao to kneel. He was pregnant and looking forward to giving birth to a healthy baby girl. But if Master Xiao had opened the doors today —
He gulped and glared at Master Xiao. “A mer is supposed to look after his wife and daughters first before his own family. This is the rule. Since you cannot follow it then you don’t deserve to remain married.”
