GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2615: Giving Up.

Chapter 2615: Giving Up.

His suspicion of the true motive of the god of knowledge is why he ultimately chose not to give his summons the location of their true body in the real world and make them kill the god of knowledge there, even though it will be easy to do so.

He doesn’t want to kill the god of knowledge’s true body because the death of the god of death will quicken the fusion of their minds.

He also doesn’t want to kill the god of knowledge in this virtual mental world. He doesn’t even want to fight at all.

What he wants is to take a break from the fight and use the time to think and find a solution out of this conundrum. Unfortunately for him, he can’t stop trying to kill the god of knowledge here because the god of knowledge will try to kill him if he holds back.

He may not be motivated to kill, but the God of knowledge is highly motivated about killing him. After all, according to what the god of knowledge said, whoever wins the fight will become the dominant personality.

Since he didn’t want to kill the god of knowledge, he could only try to stall the god of knowledge while he found a solution. But the god of knowledge was quick to take advantage of his lax attitude to pressure him.

The two of them went back and forth like this many times. The god of history would try to hold back, but the god of knowledge would force his hand. The god of history could only be glad that his summons weren’t going all out in trying to kill the god of knowledge.

In fact, he regretted summoning them because, even though they were not trying their best, their presence alone was enough to divert some of the power of the god of knowledge. So their presence weakened the god of knowledge and made it easy for him to kill the god of knowledge.

Eventually, the god of history gave up trying to find a solution. He said to the god of knowledge, “I didn’t expect that the day would come when victory would be in my hands, but I don’t want to take it. If someone had told me before this moment that I wouldn’t want to kill you, I would have called them senile. But here I am.”

The god of knowledge laughed and said with pride, “That’s what I do. I make the impossible, possible.”

The god of history agreed with him and said, “Indeed. You have won this time around. But I will win next time.”

After saying so, he called upon his authority. The River of History answered his call. All he needed to do was activate it and use it to send information about the plan of the god of knowledge to his past self.

He still had his Past Self divine ability, which would help him recover himself if he dies. It works by reverting his state to a previous state. So it works similarly to the Rewind and Restore divine ability of the pathway of Undying.

But he does not want to use the Past Self divine ability because he suspects that if he dies within this virtual mental world, his current self will fuse with the virtual world and create the product that the god of knowledge wants.

If that were to happen, the product of fusion will have his divine abilities and his authority, so he won’t want to revert to his past and might be able to stop him from reverting.

It might be an exaggeration to think that his life-saving divine ability will fail to save him from this dilemma. But he thinks highly of the god of knowledge and doesn’t dare to underestimate the capabilities of this world.

So instead of risking his life, he decided to destroy the whole situation. Once his past self knows what the god of knowledge is truly planning, his past self won’t go along with the plan and won’t try to ambush the god of knowledge, so this whole situation where he is trapped won’t happen anymore.

He had made up his mind about this. But just as he was about to activate his plan, he realized something important. What he realized made him stop what he was doing.

Then he began to laugh. He also began to laugh.

As he laughed and clapped, he said, “Well done. You have truly cornered me.”

The god of knowledge asked innocently, “What do you mean?”

The god of history sighed and said, “I was just thinking about using my ultimate ability to change the past and make this situation impossible to occur. But then I remembered that you can copy abilities, and you were even able to copy the Mirror of the World, an authority.”

“After I remembered this, I asked myself these questions. What’s to stop you from copying the River of History? What if your plan is to force me to use the River of History so that you can copy it?”

His questions made the god of knowledge chuckle. Then the god of knowledge said, “You’re overthinking things.”

“It is true that I want the River of History. But it is also true that I want everything about you. You can either fuse with me obediently now, or you will teach me the River of History, and we will fight across all of the past to fuse.”

“The choice is yours. But I must tell you that the only difference is how much pain and struggling you will go through before we fuse. So I advise you to give up resistance.”

Then the god of knowledge said to the god of telepathy, “I must thank you for your help. I got this idea when you told me about the pathway of creation and the pathway of destruction.”

“Thanks to you, I realized that the timeline had been tampered with. I truly have to thank you for bringing it to my attention.”
