GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2460: Eliminating The Root.

Chapter 2460: Eliminating The Root.

The only consequence that the person they were attacking created on Legion was to increase the consumption of spiritual energy needed for Legion to remain hidden. Aside from this, the person might as well be dead.

Legion could maintain this level of spiritual energy consumption easily, so they focused all of their might on the neighbor. The fight was made even easier because the neighbor that they picked was also being attacked by someone else.

So it was a two-on-one fight. This was a special situation because both their partner and the single enemy that they were ganging up on didn’t notice them at all.

Even when the Mind Plague collapsed under the combined mind of Legion and their helper, the owner of the Mind Plague still didn’t notice them. The owner of the Mind Plague was only surprised that they had been defeated.

After the victory came pursuit. Both Legion and their helper traced the defeated mind plague back to its source and pursued it to attack it.

Unfortunately, only Legion could fight this part of the baffle because only one telepath could use the connection that the source of the mind plague used to attack the Mind Palace to attack the source of the mind plague.

So Legion was alone for this fight, but they didn’t mind. They traced the source of the mind plague and began to attack it.

Back in the Mind Palace, their helper was confused that they couldn’t trace the source of the defeated mind plague and couldn’t pursue it. But they didn’t think too much about it.

Their helper ignored the fact that they had just missed a good opportunity to eliminate a competitor completely. Then they began attacking someone else.

Meanwhile, the source of the defeated mind plague also ignored their mental attack. They did nothing as the Mind Plague entered their mind and began slowly eroding it.

As a demigod, the telepath has many passive defenses and a thick mental shield around their mind. But all of these didn’t stop the spread of Legion’s Mind Plague at all.

Every mental construct is vulnerable to the Mind Plague. Only a Mind Plague can resist another Mind Plague. This was why Legion didn’t dare make mental contact with the demigod telepath that gave them false information and tried to trap them when they were fighting her.

If this telepath had tried to resist the mental infection with their own Mind Plague, they would have been likely to win this fight because this is their home ground. But they did nothing, so they were easily defeated.

Legion didn’t try to burn the mind to ashes in order to eliminate the telepath. Instead of doing something so wasteful, they only brainwashed the telepath and enslaved them.

They did this instead of killing the demigod for two reasons. The first reason was so that they would complete the advancement requirements to become angels of telepathy.

The minimum requirement to become angels of telepathy is to brainwash nine demigod telepaths. Once this requirement is met, one can become one of the three angels of the pathway.

But if there are already three angels of the pathway, demigod telepaths that want to become angels will either have to enslave more telepaths or kill one of the angels to get rid of them.

According to the information they got from the demigod telepath, there is currently only one angel of telepathy. This was why she was quick to take advantage of them when they asked her for information about the location of telepaths.

They were not the first one that she made a move against. She had even succeeded in brainwashing two demigods before she tried to trap them, but she had ordered them to kill themselves when she was about to be captured.

She did that to spite them, so this demigod telepath that they just brainwashed would be their first brainwashed demigod telepath for the advancement requirement.

The second reason that they spared the demigod telepath’s life is so that he can help them defeat the Mind Plagues of other telepaths in the Mind Palace.

All of these took very little time to complete. Legion traced the mind of the demigod telepath and brainwashed it in less than a minute.

This was even shorter than the time it took them to kill the psychic shrieker, even though that psychic shrieker was bound and trapped by them. This short time was because this demigod telepath didn’t resist at all.

So Legion left the Mind Palace and returned with a new helper in less than a minute. Then they ganged up on someone else and did the same thing they just did.

The process was slow and steady, but they were surely and silently recruiting their competitors to their side. The best part was that no one noticed this change.

On the surface, the battle was still chaotic. But in one tiny corner, a wave with a singular direction was rising and building momentum. It was just a matter of time for this wave to submerge the whole battlefield.

They wanted to speed up the process by creating more virtual flesh to attack with, but they eventually decided not to do that because the more avenues of attack that they have, the more the burden will be on the Invisibility Shield divine ability to keep them hidden and the more the consumption of spiritual energy will be.

There are about 30 demigods fighting on the battlefield of the Mind Palace, but in reality, there are only about 10 true competitors. This is because the rest have been enslaved by the true competitors.

Some of the demigods were enslaved after they became legends and then helped to advance to become demigods. This was what their demigod telepath slave wanted to do with them.

But most of the demigods are talented people who were enslaved as epic godclads through means such as the food and drinks served in the headquarters of the Mind Hunters.

Those talented epic telepaths were then raised to become demigods in order to help their masters fight on the battlefield and advance to the rank of angel in the future.
