Chapter 2461: Back And Forth.
Chapter 2461: Back And Forth.
Very few demigods were actually enslaved after they became demigods. But the point remained that what Legion was doing was not strange or new.
They were not the only ones doing it. So more than half of the people on the battlefield were following the orders of other demigods. This made it difficult for Legion to advance after a while.
Whenever they struck at someone who was in league with another demigod telepath, this person would call for help, which would make the fight more difficult.
The helpers that were called slowed down Legion’s speed of victory and prevented them from using their brainwashed telepaths to gain a quick, overwhelming victory.
Not only that, but this situation also increased the pressure on Legion to remain hidden because more enemies were paying attention to what they were doing. It didn’t stop them from making progress.
And after making a lot of progress and managing to brainwash six demigods to fight for them, this problem mostly disappeared because they now had the advantage of numbers.
There was no other demigod who had six demigods under their control. So even if a demigod called for help, the fight would still finish quickly because Legion outnumbered them.
However, only the speed of progress increased. The burden on the Invisibility Shield continued to increase because they had made too much progress and were drawing the attention of everyone around them.
Then things took a downward turn when other demigods began working together to suppress him. This is usually what happens when one person is making too much progress.
Legion hadn’t bothered to erode the Mind Palace yet and instead focused on their competitors. But the fact that they now had eight demigods working for them was enough to draw public ire.
If it were anyone else, they would fail at this point because they won’t be able to resist the combined might of everyone else. But Legion was an exception because even though everyone was angry at them and unwilling to let them progress, no one was actually attacking them.
Everyone else was determined to do whatever they could to suppress them. But they subconsciously ignored Legion’s existence and instead focused on their eight helpers.
So the best that the ire of the other demigods could achieve was to make Legion lose the advantage of numbers that they just acquired and spend more spiritual energy to remain hidden.
Legion was still making progress. It was slow progress, but they were surely turning the tide by recruiting more and more demigods to their side.
The fight was very chaotic. It should have been the opposite of chaotic, but it was the most chaotic situation on the battlefield in quite a while.
The situation should be orderly because everyone should fall on one of two sides, and they should have one goal, which is to defeat the other side. But this fight was chaotic because the people on one side were constantly switching sides to join the other side.
The outcome of this fight was also meant to be certain. The outnumbered side should be defeated. After all, there was no way that 8 people could defeat 22 people.
But as time went by, the 8 became 12, and the enemies that should have been 18 split into many camps because they couldn’t trust each other anymore.
Many demigods have their slaves stolen by Legion. They were surprised by this and didn’t know how it happened or when it happened. All they saw was that a demigod that used to serve them suddenly switched sides.
Their allies also saw this and thought that the demigod was actually working with the enemy. No matter how the demigods whose slaves were stolen tried to explain that they didn’t know what was going on, no one believed them.
After all, action spoke louder than words. And this action said that they were colliding with Legion.
This misunderstanding caused Legion’s enemies to start suspecting each other and stop working together. This already put them on the path of victory, and they were poised to take that victory.
They targeted someone who they suspected to be the leader of a group of demigods. Once they succeeded in enslaving this person, Legion instantly gained two extra helpers through him. So the number of helpers they have became 15.
But before they could do anything more, the commotion they had made drew the attention of the angel of the pathway. Apparently, what they had done has drawn the attention of the strongest being in the pathway.
This angel didn’t want them to gain victory over the battlefield and subdue the Mind Palace, so he interfered to stop them.
In fact, the angel was very shocked by the turn of events. If he could communicate through the Mind Plagues, he would have roared and asked what everyone was doing when someone made this much progress.
The angel himself couldn’t take control of the Mind Palace this way because everyone would gang up on him. Yet, someone appeared to be doing what he has failed to do for many years.
One on one, no one could defeat his Mind Plague. And even when ganged up on, he could still fight back.
But even if he wins, he won’t be able to take advantage of the victory to trace the source of the defeated Mind Plague and eliminate this source forever because the rest of the demigods would be attacking his own Mind Plague.
If these many demigods fought him in the physical world, they would be defeated. Even if there is a stalemate, there would be many casualties on the side of the demigods.
But this is not the real world. This is the world of the Mind Palace, where only the Mind Plague can work. So he can’t display his full power and the full advantage of his elevated rank.
Anytime he appeared in the Mind Palace, everyone would gang up on him. This had delayed him from becoming a god for many years.
