Chapter 2306: Fake Army.

Her eyes were closed and she was still, but she was busy projecting what she wanted to see into the eyes and vision of the nobles. Her work was why the noble and his fleeing soldiers were standing still like her.

The lady was actually a rank 6 illusionist. She was the one who made the noble and his soldiers see a large army blocking their way.

In reality, there was no army. There was only her and her two assistants.

She also made the noble think that he was being attacked by 11 judges and two warriors. This too is fake. It is an illusion like the fake army.

She did all of these using her rank 3 divine ability called Environmental Illusion and her rank 6 divine ability called Nightmare. So she is the reason why the noble is just hopping around with his horse instead of running for his life.

While she may be standing, of the three of them, she is the one working the hardest. The two men are just assassins. They are powerful assassins, but anyone can do their current job.

Anyone can slit the throats of men standing idly by without resisting. Maybe others wouldn’t be as skilled or as fast as them, but that doesn’t change the fact that they have the easiest job.

So Commander Isaac pursued from behind while the illusionist and her two helpers beheaded the enemy from the front. This way, no one was able to escape.

Everyone in the army of nobles died to the very last man. It was the greatest defeat that the nobles had suffered since the war started. One could even say it was the greatest defeat of the kingdom of Wessex in a thousand years.

The soldiers of the army of justice were happy about this achievement. They even began to cheer.

“Isaac the undefeated! Isaac the undefeated!”

Their voices rose. high to the sky as they cheered their commander. It put everyone in a good mood.

Isaac was smiling ear to ear. No one could see his face, but they could tell that he was happy, but that didn’t stop him from smiling.

The illusionist came over to him and asked, “Now what do you have to say for yourself?”

He was in too much of a good mood, so he didn’t mind saying some nice words.

He said to her, “You were right. It was better to be patient and catch a big fish than to lash out early on.”

The lady nodded and said, “Good. But to be fair, my plan wouldn’t have worked without you doing so well as good bait.”

He looked at her and said genuinely, “You’re not so bad yourself.”

Then he extended his hand to her for a shake. The two of them shook hands. Then they led their soldiers to return to Ivory Town in triumph.

When the noble had first arrived with his army, he had caught the judges off guard. That was the main reason why the judges suffered a lot of casualties and needed reinforcements urgently.

If not for Isaac, the judges would have been wiped out during that first fight. They weren’t wiped out, but that didn’t stop Isaac from being angry.

Isaac wanted to kill the noble at all costs. He was willing to chase the noble to the ends of the earth to kill him. But this lady came and offered him an alternative.

She recommended that they use this battlefield to siphon the soldiers of the nobles from the other battlefields and then take them down in one fell swoop. So she asked Isaac not to kill the noble yet.

Isaac didn’t like her plan at all because it required him to keep an enemy he hated alive, and it meant that his subordinates would continue to be in danger and even die while this tactic went on.

He wanted to put an end to their suffering, but he didn’t destroy the plan because more and more strong enemies appeared on the battlefield to confront him. He killed these enemies, but only barely.

He was pretending to be stretched thin. This allowed the nobles to think that they had a chance of defeating the judges as long as they could hold him back.

This plan worked for a while. But it stopped after many epic beings died at his hands. So for a while, the fight between the two sides became a meat grinder.

This changed when Vakin the mighty arrived. He was the strongest epic being yet. If Vakin also died, only legends would dare come.

So Isaac decided to end the farce once and for all. He went all out defeating Vakin. He did this because if he hadn’t gone all out, he might actually die.

He also wanted to finish the fight early so that his soldiers wouldn’t suffer many casualties and so that their enemies wouldn’t have time to escape. All of these culminated in the complete elimination of their enemies.

Commander Isaac was in a good mood as he watched his men cheer. The lady in white walking noticed this and smiled then.

Then she said, “It is a good thing to fight for the god of justice. But it is even better to fight and win for the god of justice.”

He shrugged and said, “I was just doing my duty.”

She smiled even more. This made her look more beautiful than she already was.

She said, “Still, that doesn’t take away from your achievement. If anything, your achievement should be more appreciated because we needed that victory. Every believer needed that victory.”

Commander Isaac remained humble and said, “I don’t know about believers needing a victory. But I know that what I did is insignificant in the long run.”

The lady sighed and said, “You should learn to take a compliment. Especially this compliment because you deserve it.”

Before he could protest, she spoke up to convince him again, “You don’t think what you did was impressive because you still have unwavering faith in the god of justice and believe that we will surely win this war. Isn’t that right?”
