His martial arts progress had finally increased by another one percent. This was an extremely slow pace compared to before.
Wu Liangchen knew that after reaching this realm, advancement was no longer a simple matter of accumulating Qi and Blood.
It involved something much deeper.
This was also why Wu Liangchen planned to head to the Alliance’s capital.
He wanted to see for himself what the world’s strongest combatants were like.
Meanwhile, various news about Wu Liangchen began to spread. The revelation that he had achieved the indestructible Divine Sight Realm and was about to leave Qing Province, in particular, was like a great stone dropped among the great families, sending ripples through them.
Some celebrated, eagerly awaiting the departure of this "ferocious dragon crossing the river."
But for others, it stirred their ambitions.
Wu Liangchen had single-handedly annihilated the Sun family, demonstrating immense combat strength, but it also meant he might now control the Sun family’s core resources.
Wealth has always tempted the hearts of men, and these pathologically greedy families were no exception.
In a secret club, a conspiracy was underway.
"This Wu Liangchen is certainly formidable, but he’s young and has no foundation. The Sun family had a century of accumulated wealth. Even just the scraps would be enough to elevate our families to the next level. How can we let it all fall into someone else’s hands so easily? After all, we can’t afford to provoke the Tian family, but are you telling me we can’t handle one little outsider Martial Cultivator?" someone said in a low voice, his eyes filled with greed.
"Exactly. So what if he’s reached the indestructible Divine Sight Realm? He just broke through, so his foundation is still unstable. Plus, he’s dragging a liability along with him. I refuse to believe we won’t get a chance," another person chimed in.
"The fastest and most convenient way to get to Zhongjing is by train. We can hire a few assassins, experts in their craft, and have them strike after the train leaves Qing Province and enters a less controlled region."
"If it works, the profits will be immense. If it fails, we’ll just lose a bit of money, but we’ll also get to test his true strength. What’s not to like?"
The last man’s proposal received unanimous agreement from everyone present.
Soon, an invisible net began to close, its target none other than Wu Liangchen.
Although Wu Liangchen was unaware of the specifics, he knew this departure wouldn’t be so simple.
However, he didn’t let it bother him.
He now possessed enough strength to dismiss such petty tricks with contempt.
「The next day.」
Wu Liangchen rose early, then took Song Ling’Er from the factory district, hailing a cab straight to the station.
The Qing Province station was magnificent and cold, filled with the metallic textures and intersecting light and shadow of cyberpunk aesthetics.
Beneath a massive dome, crowds flowed like a woven tapestry, and floating billboards flickered with hypnotic light. The air was thick with the distinct smell of disinfectant mixed with metallic coolant.
Wu Liangchen bought an unregistered ticket. It was expensive, but the accompanying "uninspected luggage" privilege allowed him to safely carry the disguised firearm components.
He and Song Ling’Er carried what looked like ordinary suitcases, calmly passing through one identity scanner and security gate after another.
They boarded the train without any trouble.
The train car’s interior was spacious and bright, exuding a sense of advanced technology from every corner.
It was Song Ling’Er’s first time on a train, and she looked around curiously, taking everything in.
Wu Liangchen, on the other hand, sat with his eyes closed in meditation. His aura was withdrawn to the absolute limit, to the point that he seemed to merge with his surroundings.
After reaching the Divine Sight Realm, Wu Liangchen’s control over his own body had become microscopic in its precision.
Thus, whenever he wished, he could enter a state of absolute focus, free of distractions, where nothing, internal or external, could leak.
It was what Buddhists referred to as meditative concentration.
In this state, the pores all over Wu Liangchen’s body closed, not a single trace of his aura escaped, and his very presence faded to a minimum.
So, even though he was sitting right there, most of the other passengers in the car subconsciously ignored him.
WHIR!
With a soft sound, the train began to move, accelerating to its maximum speed in an incredibly short time.
The scenery outside the window blurred into a flowing ribbon of light, gone in a flash.
The car grew quiet. Some people were resting, while others conversed in low voices.
"Get some rest," Wu Liangchen said softly to a slightly nervous Song Ling’Er beside him.
Hearing this, she nodded and leaned back in her seat, closing her eyes to feign sleep.
Soon, the train left the urban area of Qing Province and entered a region of low, rolling hills.
The atmosphere in the car became more relaxed, and an attendant even began pushing a food cart to distribute meals.
Just then, several seemingly unrelated passengers in the car suddenly exchanged a look.
They had been scattered in different corners, but the moment their eyes met, the look was filled with cold killing intent and a silent understanding.
The next second, everything changed.
A man sitting closest to Wu Liangchen sprang from his seat. With a flick of his arm, a glint of cold light shot toward the back of Wu Liangchen’s chair. Judging by its trajectory, the target was clearly Wu Liangchen’s throat.
The angle of attack was exceptionally cunning; Wu Liangchen, reclining in his chair, would have no way of seeing it coming. It was a truly vicious move.
At the same time, a passenger in a hat sitting diagonally behind them held what looked like an ordinary tablet. The device suddenly transformed, a short barrel popping out from its base. It silently fired a tiny, poisoned needle, gleaming with a faint blue light, straight at Song Ling’Er’s temple.
